Chereads / Rise of the Reaper / Chapter 6 - -Denied

Chapter 6 - -Denied

Hunter practically ran back to his dorm room, too excited to notice the weird glances pointed in his direction.

Swinging open his dorm room, Hunter thought to himself 'If this is anything like the videogames I and Ethan play then I should get stronger by putting my points into the different attribute classes'

Hunter went to the bathroom to wash off the sweat and grime that was on his body. After drying off and grabbing his school uniform, hunter sat down on his bed.

'Open my status' Hunter thought to himself

[Name: Hunter Rowan]

[Race: Undead Human]

[Title: Reapers Apprentice]

[Level 0]

[Skill Points: 4]

[H/P 10/10]

[Strength 10]

[Agility 10]

[Stamina 10]

"A new tab showed up this time! I guess that's how many points I have after the daily quest" Hunter said to himself.

Hunter decided to even out his stats because he didn't really know the actual impact that the points would have on him.

Hunter once again opened up his stats.

...

[H/P 15/15]

[Strength 12]

[Agility 12]

[Stamina 12]

'That's a bit odd' Hunter thought to himself, 'My health went up by five while the other tabs went up by two'

Hunter didn't feel any different from before but he guessed that with such a small amount of attribute points distributed, he wouldn't notice the effects.

'There's still so many unanswered questions to this wack ass system' Hunter sighed to himself.

Just as he finished his thoughts, his wristwatch alarm sounded, indicating that his first-class was starting soon.

Hunter's first class of the day was a combat-orientated class that included the entire 150 students of his year.

Walking down the corridor to the class, Hunter ran into a familiar figure walking on his own.

"Yo! Ethan what's up!" Hunter said as he slapped Ethan on the back lightly.

Turning around, Ethan was about to greet Hunter before he abruptly stopped, his mouth left hanging open.

"Dude, what happened to your face!" Ethan widened his eyes while looking at Hunter.

"What, is there something on my face other than my usual ugly mug," Hunter said while slightly confused at Ethan's words.

"No man, I mean physically, what happened to your face? Your eyes don't have bags underneath them and your skin looks so smooth!" Ethan exclaimed. "And you look taller than you did last night! Are you on steroids or something?"

'I guess the changes to my body were more than I expected' Hunter thought to himself.

"Are you sure man? You sound crazy, do you hear yourself" Hunter nervously chuckled.

"Don't gaslight me, Hunter, there's something going on with you, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it" Ethan gallantly spoke while striking a royal pose.

"Yea, yea, do whatever you want. Let's get to class before we get yelled at again" Hunter said before running ahead of Ethan to escape from the situation.

...

"Now that attendance is finished I would like to start the lesson for today" A young man spoke in a booming voice in front of the large auditorium full of students.

"Before we start the lesson, we will be conducting our monthly assessment," The young teacher said while approaching a group of jagged crystals sitting on his desk which were connected to several different laptop computers through what looked like standard HDMI cables.

"Everyone gather into groups and form lines, myself and a few volunteer teachers will be assessing your power level"

Sitting in the back of the classroom, Hunter sighed to himself deeply. Getting their power level tested was a standard procedure that happened once a month.

While his fellow peer's power levels started to increase through the years, Hunter's stayed at a mere 0, meaning he couldn't manifest his power at all.

Looking to his right he saw a dazed Ethan, barely staying awake due to a lack of sleep from staying up late playing video games. A tinge of jealousy went through Hunter as he wished he was as powerful as Ethan but the jealously soon went away.

'He's the only person at this school who will stand up for me and be there for me, I cant feel jealousy towards him' Hunter thought to himself.

Hunter's and Ethan's group was soon called up and the power assessment commenced.

Ethan, who was one spot in front of Hunter, was called up to a crystal and placed his palm on top of it. The crystal glowed an electric blue, sparks flew out of the crystal, making everyone in the room take a look at the spectacle.

"Ethan Parker: Power Level 6" A robotic voice responded

"Power level 6!" a student yelled out in the crowd of observors."Last month he had a power level of 5 but now its 6!" another student exclaimed.

'As if he wasnt already overpowered' Hunter thought to himself as he shook his head.

Walking back to his seat, Ethan gave Hunter a thumbs up before heading off.

Hunter was called up, expecting the same result as always, Hunter placed his palm to the crystal.

Like Ethan, the crystal responded to Hunters touch, however the robotic voice spoke something that made the room go silent.

"Hunter Rowan: ERROR UNREADABLE POWER LEVEL"

'What.' Hunter panicked, thinking that he somehow broke the crystal.
