The wind blew calmly at the flower fields of Epsilon on a cold and bright night, it was the final rise of the silver moon. Epsilon is the southern province of Antares in the continent of Taika. In here, no humans live as the whole place was surrounded by the dark forest, and in the middle were the field of white flowers. This place was rumored to be where evil creatures lurks; thus, anyone would do whatever it takes to evade this place. The silver moon glistened above the sky surrounded by moon bows.
On the Silver moon, the Lunarians have gathered for a ceremony. A new Lunarian was chosen by the three moon gods to be given the task of saving the world of Tensei from the rising Apocalypse.
"Are the gods serious about choosing that soul? Ever since it arrived, it didn't even dare to interact with us and just watched over the other world and the other moons." A lunarian whispered to another one.
"Yes, but we are all put in the test and that soul was the most compatible one after all. I wonder what was its past life that made it worthy of the silver moon's judgement." Another Lunarian replied.
"Let us pray that soul would be a success." Another Lunarian spoke as they watched the goddess of the silver moon spoke to the chosen lunarian.
Each lunarian looks so identical, they had human-like bodies yet looks like marble statues that moves. They speak using their minds and they move like a regular human.
The goddess of the silver moon stood upon an arch and held the chosen Lunarian's palms.
"You were chosen to save the world from the upcoming apocalypse, I believe you are our hope." She said and kissed its forehead.
Then a flash of light came from the silver moon towards the world of Tensei.
The white flowers started to bloom. In a silent night, a cry of a baby can be heard. Rustling on the grass, a three-feet tall black cat with red eyes and tail split into three had curiously went towards the field where the bright light faded and the white flowers pollen started to fly with the wind. The pollens were silver and were beautiful. However, the cat didn't let itself to be distracted.
It circled around the area curiously as if it was looking for a prey. Carefully using its senses to see if there are enemies around and what is that crying creature that came from the moon.
Little by little, it reached the place and there it saw a baby, the baby was very pale as if it was a mannequin and was covered with thin silver fabric. It was crying and looks like it was just a newborn and the cat— which is a falan — an entity that is formerly a human who forgot its original form came and picked up the baby.
"Hey guys, this baby just came from the moon., but it was a human baby. How is that possible?" It spoke. Its voice was that of a man in his thirties.
"A baby!? From the moon? Does the moon give birth to human babies!?" a three-feet tall brown falan came rushing towards the cat falan. The rabbit's voice was that of a woman and it was shocked as it looked at the baby. "Oh my gosh! A human baby that came from the moon indeed!?"
"It's a Lunarian." A falan owl told them.
The owl encircled them in the sky and landed beside the cat. The owl was five-feet tall with white and black spots on its feathers. Its eyes were red and its talons were equipped with a sharp blade.
These falans looks like regular animals yet they talk like how a human would talk. Falan was taken from the word fallen, that happens when a shapeshifter forgot its original form after shifting to its chosen form for a week. However, these falan's height as human were kept. Some falan can talk and some cannot. Falans were immortal, almost but they can be killed with a dragon's blood which is poisonous. When a falan remembers its human origin and returns to its original form, it loses its immortality and memories of being a falan.
The falan cat carefully walked backwards as the falan owl hopped towards the baby. Somehow after the baby saw the owl, it stopped crying.
"I guess the baby Lunarian likes you, eh?" The rabbit complimented as it was enchanted by the baby. "Look! Each of her irises had different color! Very beautiful!" the rabbit adored the baby.
"Who wouldn't find those big eyes funny anyway?" the cat said jokingly and the owl pecked him.
"Ouch! I'm just joking!" the cat covered its head and the baby found the situation funny.
"Hey! Don't laugh! It's not even funny!" the cat said as it moved a few distance away from the owl.
The rabbit giggled as it watches the baby. "Anyway, what's a Lunarian?" the rabbit asked.
"Lunarians are entities that came from the moons, they were the reincarnations of souls who had proven their bravery and had saved many lives. They were mostly humans, some were ferals— you know those entities that were half humans like mermaids and centaurs? Also, some of them were elves and dwarves. The fact that a Lunarian was sent here means that our world' order and chaos are imbalanced and the apocalypse is coming." the owl explained at them.
The rabbit and the cat looked at each other.
"Well, it's a good thing we had a dictionary with us… but is that true?" the cat looked back and forth between the baby and the owl.
"Of course, it is." The owl confidently replied.
"So, werewolves were ferals too, right? How about vampires?" The rabbit asked.
"Well, speaking of werewolves, yes. But the vampires kill humans and elves. A lunarian must be pure and has a strong sense of justice, thus vampires can't be a lunarian." The owl explained at the curious rabbit.
"I wonder… what is a strong sense of justice…" The cat asked as it seems to be remembering something about its origin.
Many of the falans were afraid of returning to its original form as they would forget everything about being a falan. The reactions of those who returned to its original form were mostly scared whenever they see a falan. For them who had made a close bonds with each other, that is much more fearful than dying, to be forgotten.
"So, what do we do with this lunarian?" the rabbit asked as she poked the baby with her long ears. She did this to distract her falan friend.
"We better ask our leader in that case." The owl replied.
"So, who will be the one to carry the baby?" The cat asked.
The three of them looked at each other.
"I can't." the owl said. "I don't have hands." it added.
"Me either." The cat added. "I use my four legs to walk after all."
"I used to be a nurse so… let me have the baby." The rabbit then carried the baby using her ears as she continued to hop.
"Just how strong were those ears of yours?" the cat asked.
"Oh, they're pretty strong that if she slaps you with it, you'll be sent away like a hundred kilometers per hour." The owl teased the cat.
The cat looked mad at the owl.
"Cut it out you two. Basically, both of you are predators but both of you know I don't like silly nonsense arguing." The rabbit hopped faster towards their hideout.
The two sighed and followed the rabbit.
"We can't tell anyone else about this baby's identity, the forces of chaos will be after her." The owl explained.
"Then what do we tell everyone?" the cat asked.
"Let's just tell them we found this baby on the woods, abandoned by its parents." The owl replied.
"What do we name this cute baby?" the rabbit jolly asked the owl.
"How about Luna?" the cat asked.
"Isn't that too obvious?" the rabbit asked.
"Shirohara, that'll be her name." the owl said proudly.
"Shirohara? Literally means white flower? You serious?" the cat tries to argue as they were heading under a burrow.
"Well, what else? We found her surrounded by white flowers after all." The owl pecked the cat but this time the cat evaded.
"Wait, how did you know this lu— baby is a girl?" the rabbit asked.
"It's just a guess…" the owl stopped as a falan rhinoceros stopped them.
"You three, what is that silver thing you're carrying?" it asked them.
"Its… uh..." the three of them were startled and forgot they can speak.
The rhino then looked at the fabric that the rabbit was holding.
"A human baby!? Why did the three of you brought this here!? It's dangerous! It could be a spy! Humans hunt us!" The rhino's voice was so loud.
"Calm down Pete, a human baby can't hunt nor spy on us." The cat explained.
"Shut up Mac, take him out of here!" the rhino ordered.
"She was abandoned by her parents in the woods, it was clear she was unwanted. And the three of us found her. We, falans are also abandoned. Have mercy on the child Pete, she had no idea, okay? And she was just born today! " the owl explained.
The rhino snorted. The rabbit lowered her ears as she hugged the baby.
"What's this commotion about?" a falan gray wolf about five-feet tall walked towards them, its eyes were glowing gold. It walked with confidence and a powerful aura towards them. It was their leader.
"Sir Marcus! These falans were planning on sneaking a human baby in our hideout!" the rhino exclaimed angrily.
"We're not sneaking her! We're on our way to meet Sir Marcus!" the rabbit explained.
The wolf looked at the four of them and the baby.
"Let's talk about this at my court." The wolf told them and they followed him.
The other falans just watched them as they were doing their own business. There was an alligator, a squirrel, a kitten, and a baby elephant.
"Mokuro, you are my greatest advisor. I would like to know why did the three of you decided to bring this human here? No one followed you guys, right" the wolf asked the owl.
"First of all, I scouted all over the area and there wasn't a human around. Mac here would also be able to hear if there are humans around. Same goes with her." He pointed at the rabbit. Then he focused on the baby.
"Sir, this poor entity was abandoned in the woods. We heard her cry and we decided to check it out and find this baby. It was harmless and I thought that it would be a good idea to keep her than let her die in there." Mokuro explained as he was looking eye to eye with the wolf.
"I would like to hear your side too, Pete." Marcus said after listening to Mokuro.
"Sir, my only concern is our kind's safety, that's all." The rhino explained.
"I understood your concern Pete, this child seems to be just born anyway, it doesn't think like a human and I'm pretty sure when this child grows up, she would be a great help to us." The wolf told them.
"Pardon me Sir, you too Mokuro. I was just worried; you know those humans will do anything just to sell us as slaves. I shall take my leave to guard." The rhino bid farewell and left.
As soon as the rhino exited, the wolf glared at Mokuro the owl.
"So, now that we have a Lunarian with us, we must taught her how life on Tensei works. I hope she would be a great savior of our world." Marcus the wolf told them.
"Sir, how did you know!?" Mac asked amusedly.
"I overheard the three of you earlier so I decided to go and meet you, I didn't expect Pete would meet you first. Anyway, since the three of you found this child, then the three of you will be the one responsible for this child." Marcus ordered.
"Yes sir." The three answered.
And that was the first day Shirohara existed in Tensei.
