Chapter 22 - 022: Experiment

The first question Divyat would have loved to ask right now was that where the hell was he? It was one thing to see demons and demi-humans, but it was another thing for an honest to God Devil to be right here. Legends and myths were and have always been based on facts, and the Divine Sky Dao Sect was not well known for its prowess in combat, but for it's vast repository of rare knowledge. If there has ever been a topic of contention, odds are the Divine Sky Dao Sect had the answer to it. Either way, Devil's were not natives, and not even to the continent, but rather to the entire world itself.

They were creatures of extreme evil from a different plane of existence, one that is known as the Infernal Realm. But up until today it was just myth, a scary bedtime story parents tell their kids in order to have them behave. But here right in front of his very own eyes was a living, breathing Devil. By this point Divyat had no more strength or the mental capacity to be surprised anymore. The Ghadovara mountains perhaps did not need to know too much about an invasion from the Rizal Empire, because it's obvious the empire has no idea just what the fuck they're dealing with.

"You don't look like much for a human… look at him, he's so scrawny the wind itself will have no problem tearing him to shreds." A cacophony of laughter was released at Divyat's expense. He honestly didn't mind, because, at this point laughter was good, laughter meant they found him funny and would not be otherwise inclined to relieve him of his big head. But then again with a Devil involved, there was no telling how this was going to go.

"I don't see what all the fuss is about, you guys should have either just killed him when you found him, or thrown him into the mines with the rest of the slaves and cattle. But Cao Man you drew this to my attention… why?" with that said he turned to look at the Naga who had on an impassive yet somewhat respectful look on his face. Cao Lin was behind him, and to Divyat's look it seemed as if she was trying to make herself as invisible as possible, almost as if she didn't want the Devil to notice her. Cao Man; the Naga unfolded his hands and moved them behind him, taking on a tone and demeanor Divyat recognized as 'Lecture Mode'. Growing up in a sect like he has… like he had would help you notice things like this the very moment it appears.

"My daughter and I intend to study this human My Lord Zeres. There's an experimental spell formula that we have been working that would foster goodwill and subvert the mind of it's intended targets. We intend to use this human as a test subject as invariably the spell itself was originally designed to be used on humans, he's a valuable test subject for an equally valuable spell, but your permission first and foremost is required for this to be carried out properly."

Divyat had his heart in his throat as he heard Cao Man speak, he sounded so convincing, like the words that were coming out of his mouth were the very scriptural foundations reality was built on. And even though Cao Man and Cao Lin had warned him to keep quiet, and he knew vaguely that he was important to them, he would have spilled his guts out of terror in hopes that it would save him from Cao Man and his crazy Rakshasa daughter. But there was even more danger elsewhere with no alternative out of it, who was to say anyone of them would even believe should he speak up, and even if he did talk, none of them were obligated to help him, instead they all would want to kill him for an attempt to gain his thrice cursed powers.

"Makes sense, but why a human Cao Man, you could have used anyone else. Besides for you to go so far it means this spell is important, but is it really?" the Devil asked as he shifted his gaze back to Divyat, causing a chill to dance up and down the spine of the young boy.

"Indeed My Lord Zeres. This spell is for humans because only humans can be planted in human society easily. While many of us have perfected the art of disguise and can blend into human society quite easily, many of their towns and cities have wards on the lookout for Demi-humans and demons. Movement is pretty much limited to small towns and villages. I believe with a human casing the area, we would be able to better track more lucrative targets, and even move up our operations from robbing caravans to raiding villages. Almost all of the information we have on humans and their territories are outdated, even those we trade with purposely give us false or outdate information in order to control us. And that is insulting! The lands they exploit and pollute is ours by right! It belongs to our ancestors, our bloodlines have bled for it! It is about time we took it back!"

Divyat had to hand it Cao Man, the Naga was really good with words, he knew just what to say to get the rest of the bandits riled up. Now they were looking at Divyat not with the gaze of an enemy, but a tool. And honestly Divyat had no idea whether to be thankful or even more terrified for the current change. The Debit nodded his head and turned to Cao Man and asked.

"So what do you plan to do next?"

"For now we're cut off from the Rizal Empire due to the powerful Qi blizzard that has sprung up in it's boundaries. We'll give it some time while I train and indoctrinate the human into our society, by the time I'm done he would hate humans as if he was one of us, and see himself as much Demi-human and Demon as the rest of us. I will foster and reforged his mind and body into one bred to only hate, kill and exploit humans. And since he's young, this is the best time to begin the indoctrination. By your will Lord Zeres, I will create a raiding party with the human as it's leader in 6 cycles, which should be more than enough time for me to show you the results of my effort…I will bring you power unimaginable of any other bandit lord in the entirety of the Ghadovara mountains." The devil was silent for a while, looking back from Divyat and back to Cao Man, his gaze quite unreadable. Then he said.

"Very well, you're to begin immediately, and I want to see results before the year is over, at the very least signs that your 'experiment' will and is working. You will have everything you need, start immediately."
