IRIS.
We watched as the waves crashed into the rocky shore. I wrapped inside his arms as we looked at the sunrise, werewolves were never cold, but I had never felt this warm before.
I knew how special this place was to him and how much he preferred his own company, which meant a lot to me. He kissed my neck and inhaled my scent. I could hear his satisfied smile reaction, which sent chills down my spine.
"I want to sit down," said Andor. "This view would be more satisfactory if we were sitting down comfortably.
"I want to lay on your thighs," I replied.
He nodded back in response.
We sat down, and I put my head on his lap while. He caressed my hair.
"How was your journey?" I asked.
"Eventful." He replied.
I kept waiting for him to continue speaking, but he said nothing else.
"Is that all?" I asked.
He looked at me like he did not understand the language I was speaking, so I asked. "Won't you give me the full details? Eventful barely means anything."
He searched through my eyes. Hee. Here he was, trying to find out if he could trust me. He must have found what he was looking for because he opened up to me.
"Well, King Isaac's daughter was kidnapped by his former beta, who then sold her to a Vampire who wants to end the world with her blood." Andor blurted out.
"Her?" I asked.
"Yes." He replied. "His Alpha disavowed him, and since he had no reason to be loyal anymore, he did the worse thing that he could think of for revenge."
"No matter how their relationship ended, they were once family; our pack is our family. It is not right to be vengeful towards family even if you are separated." I replied.
"You are right." He replied. "I regret that I did not get a chance to rip his head off."
Andor grew visibly upset just thinking about it, so I tried to remove his mind by rubbing my hands on his jaw if it was scratchy because he had been away for a while. But I wondered if I preferred him like this.
He warmed up to my touch and planted a kiss on my forehead. His lips were so warm that I could have melted into the rugged mountain surface.
We broke the kiss, and he continued speaking. "I tracked the princess down and killed the vampire that bought her from the beta."
I smiled. "Did you get a chance to rip off his head?"
He giggled. "Yes. I did."
I laughed. I knew the man I had chosen was more savage than the average werewolf, but I had no idea that he giggled. He was usually so severe all the time.
"I like the feeling I get whenever I am close to you." He said. "Everything is brighter; even the air feels fresher."
I smiled.
"Then, King Isaac asked that I keep his daughter safe. The vampires still want her; her blood can be used to cast a spell that could end our whole race." Andor continued.
"Did she come with you?" I asked.
"Yes. She is with my mother as we speak."
I nodded.
"Is it wise to bring someone that attracts attacks to our pack?"
"No. But I can keep her safe. And it is unwise for me to make an enemy of the head of the werewolf council so early in my rule." Andor explained.
"But, he would not attack you just because you said no to him. Even his council would turn on him." I replied.
"Perhaps." He replied. "I would rather make him an ally, though, and being alpha means that I have to care about things that do not concern me. This is good practice."
It was the first time that I saw his leadership qualities clearly, and as much as it felt weird to admit to myself, he made a better leader than my father.
"Is she beautiful?" I asked.
He gave me a puzzled look.
"The princess that you have been out there saving. Is she beautiful?" I asked again.
He laughed. "She is okay."
I inclined my head in response.
"You should know that I only have eyes for you." He said.
We stayed up there until the moon came out. It wasn't a full moon, but its magnetic aura was mesmerising. A full moon was coming soon, and the whole pack would gather around and go for a run together while we were in wolf form; we were usually led on the run by the Alpha. And I was a little bit worried that Andor would not be able to perform his duty as an Alpha fully.
"A full moon is a couple of days away," I said.
"Yes." He replied.
"Would you be able to transform with us? I have always wondered about that. Do you shift during the full moon like the rest of us?" I asked.
"Only if I wanted to. I can control my shift; it's how I can choose the form my wolf takes." He explained.
I nodded. His gift was unique. It made him the power in the world; we had not yet come across anyone else with this ability.
"I am sorry that I killed your Father," He said. "I carry the burden of breaking up your family in my heart. I always promise to protect you in their stead."
I smiled. "I have told you that I do not blame you. Things happen the way that they are meant."
"Regardless, I could not beat the thought that I caused you pain."
"You let me bury my father with honour. That is the best that could have happened in that situation; he wanted your power. You had to defend yourself."
Satisfied with my response, he sighed. I recognised his worry and hugged him tightly.
Then, out of nowhere, it began to rain. My clothes got wet and started to stick to my body. We did not get cold, so there was no hurry to leave the rain. We watched the water droplets from the sky from on top of the sea; it was mesmerising.
