Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - The Mysterious Scent

SOPHIA POV

"Where is he?" My wolf was first to react.

"I don't know there is nothing... empty... nada... zilch or whatever term I can come up with. There's no one here." I felt disappointed and it is not enough to describe the word.

"Maybe we are just being paranoid because nobody is here Ruby.' I sat to the nearest bathroom cubicle.

"I'm sorry Sophie we failed again; maybe we are just imagining it too much." Ruby also felt deflated.

"It's okay we did try to find him and if we smelled it again then we grab the chance." I try to make her feel better.

"I promise this will be the last time we will let it happen." She swears with a guilt tone.

"Let's head back to the class Ruby." I walked out of the hallway.

For the rest of the day we didn't encounter the scent again and my wolf remains quiet I know she's still upset for what happened earlier and so do I. After class Vanessa offered to carpool with her since I don't have my car with me yet and my Aunt is still stuck at the faculty meeting. As soon as we're inside the vehicle, she began telling me about her conversation with her wolf while I sat idly and thinking about my day.

"Are you okay Soph?" She nudges me.

"Sorry I'm conversing with Ruby about our mate too, what were you saying again?" I apologized and listened this time.

"It's about Rein's opinion." I placed our bags on the floor.

"What about it?" I faced her.

"She thinks maybe Anthony is my mate but then I saw him earlier at the field with a girl. It could only mean that Edison will likely be my mate." She sounded disappointed.

"What if she's not her mate? You know girls are always after him." I made her think twice.

"I don't want jump into conclusions Soph; Edison can be my potential mate if that girl is Anthony's mate. They are also both Pura Lupus the only difference is Anthony is a Prince." My bestfriend pointed out.

"Wait, enough about me what have you and Ruby talking about?" Vanessa probed.

"Well, earlier I thought we smelled our mate…." I decided to her about my day and sensed my emotion.

"You're still lucky you have that ability unlike mine." She sighed.

Vanessa understands what I'm going through but I think her situation is worse than I do. If I can smell or sense my mate it's opposite in her case because she needs to turn eighteen and then shifted in front of her mate to determine if the guy is her mate. When we reached their kingdom, we immediately went to her bedroom and started working on our assignments while talking here and there about school fair. I helped her with planning and called few people to help with the events.

"I can't just sit here and watch you talking to your brain alone so spill." She started.

"I have an idea on how you can find your mate." I started.

"Whatever that idea, let's forget about it." Vanessa said dismissively.

"Hear me out before you complain." I insisted.

"Your smile is giving it away." She gave me a pointed yet playful look.

"Promise this can be helpful." I surrendered both of my hands in the air.

"Fine, shoot." Vanessa nods while closing the laptop.

"The only way to find out is if you shift. I'm sure Rein will recognize who your mate is." I advised her.

"I can't just shift to every guy that has the same birthdate as mine that's insane!" Vans exclaimed.

"I didn't say on every guy, do it on your birthday ball that's your chance. Idiot!" I held the pillow and throw it at her playfully I hit her head.

"Ouch!" She reached the other pillow and hit me as well.

"Stop being dramatic!" I dodge her incoming pillow attack.

"I knew your idea is crazy." She made another attack leaving me no room to shield.

She gave the meanest smile and I knew what I'll get next, so I grabbed another pillow and our pillow fight started. I don't know how long we are doing that until we saw feathers went flying everywhere. We stopped advancing when Vanessa managed to float them in the air it's as if she's communicating with it. We watched it move in circular motion until our breaths became normal.

"Wow! Your power is really amazing Vans." I complimented her ability.

"Perks of being an air bender." She let her fingers play with it for few minutes.

"You are so blessed with gifts." I told her.

"I believe everyone has their own gifts, just like you wherein you can smell your mate but I can't." She pointed out.

"You're right, I didn't realize that." I agreed.

"By way, I made this list of ideas for the booth designs. Check this out." Vans changed the topic.

"What will I do with it?" I scan the paper quickly that she handed to me.

"I have decided that you will be the event coordinator." She broke the news and I made an "o" face

"You know I'm not comfortable with other people." I felt tense.

"No worries I got it covered, Macy and Michael will be there to help you out that way you won't have to deal with so much people." She assured me.

"Did they agree on that? I don't want to become a burden to them." I asked.

"I already discussed it with them and they agree besides fair are fun." She stated with facts.

"Thanks Vans." I hugged her.

"Welcome Soph." She hugged me back.

"I really don't know what to do without you." I pulled away.

"You better not figure that out because I'm here to bug you forever." She stuck her tongue out.

"I have an idea since our home works are done, can we run to the field?" I suggested.

"You are a genius Soph! I think that's great it will help us unwind." Vans agree.

We were just tidying up the bed and about to get ready to open the balcony when we heard a knock from the bedroom. It was Macy telling us that Vanessa is needed in the library so we bid goodbye and decided to do the running next time. I chose the time to talk to Macy about the fair while heading out of the room.
