DAMIEN POV
During my conversation with Mr. Langston inside the principal's office, I smelled something alluring. It's like a scent of vanilla; flax and a bit of ginger rounded out with a spicy note of musk.
'The smell... you think –" My word was interrupted.
"It's her! That's our mate!" My wolf got frantic.
'It's so heavenly." I sniffed again.
"We need to go.' My wolf commented as we both zone out to whatever Mr. Langston is saying.
"Lewis, is everything okay?" I felt a nudge on my shoulder.
"I... uhm... Mr. Langston yes everything is okay." I answered after recovering from the smell.
"Did you get all the things I am telling you?" Mr. Langston eyed me a little confused.
"I did… can I please go to loo for a while?" I excused myself hoping he would allow me.
"I'm giving you five minutes then you need to go back here because you need to check all your subjects that need to be settled and credited." He permitted.
"I will, thanks." I headed out as soon as I heard his permission.
At the hallway, I noticed that the scent is starting to fade away so I did my best to look for our mate. I went to check the girl's restroom but felt disappointed because nobody was there. I made a thorough check to each floor trying to catch the smell but I failed.
'I think she already left the campus." I let out a frustrated sigh.
"We didn't catch her again. I was so excited to see her this time but got nothing." Crimson whimpered disappointedly.
"I know me too I was imagining her face, how beautiful she is best of her smell." I told him.
"It would have been nice if we knew her name or even a glimpse of her face." My wolf added.
'We will find her tomorrow at least we already knew her scent and she is studying here. I bet it will be easy to find her.' I gave him hopes.
"Yeah you're right." Crimson agreed.
"We better get back to Mr Langston otherwise he will report us to our parents." I suggested.
I felt Crimson timidly nod as we proceed to Mr. Langston office and get our schedule before I can properly attend the class. I have to spend whole day inside the faculty just to catch up with all the lessons I missed after that I can proceed to my actual class. The Principal recommend attending my regular classes tomorrow so I complied. Exactly five in the afternoon I was done and just piling up my things when our gym/football instructor came in.
"Lewis, it's nice to finally see you after two months for pack business." He greeted from the door way.
"Same here Mr. Thompson, I guess I'm back for good." I continue with my things.
"By the way I haven't seen Steve, where is he?" Our gym/football instructor asked.
"He is not feeling well since Saturday so if you will be kind enough to give me all his lessons it will be easy for him to catch up too." I replied politely.
"Of course I'll get the notes ready," He walked over to his desk.
"Thank you." I genuinely stated.
"Oh, did your mother tell you about joining the team?" He questioned me while handling the notes.
"Yes Mr. Thompson we will be joining the team again I hope the team is okay with that." I confirmed.
"Of course the team is in need of a great Captain! Anyway you will be off the track today but tomorrow I expect you to be at the field." He demanded.
"Will do Mr. Thompson thanks again." I took the notes and put it inside the bag.
After our conversation, I bid goodbye to him and headed to my parking lot to head home. It was almost Sunset when I reached the pack house from school since it's about 45minutes driving. I parked my car and saw my Dad by the driveway the same time.
"Hey Dad! How was your meeting?" I called him from the car window.
"It was great." He answered while getting out the car.
"Is everything okay?" I sensed that he was a bit off.
"Yeah, just tired from driving for 2 hours." He complained.
"2 hours? Did you visit Grams?" I assumed he did since that's the only place we always go to.
"Yeah I did." Dad faced light up a bit.
"How is Gram's?" I missed her suddenly.
"She's fine but you know eversince your Pops died, she prefers to live away from here to forget the memories." Dad answered tiredly.
"Yeah right." I nodded as we both locked our cars.
"She's sending her greetings to you and Steve." He added.
"I just wish we can do something to convince her to live with us." I sighed.
"You know your Grams, once she is set to something no one can stop her not even your Pops." Dad stated a fact.
"That is correct." I chuckled because Dad is on point.
My grandfather Tommy was a great Alpha leader but totally submissive when Grandmother say her piece. Grandmother Dehlia loves my Pops so much and so as the pack, they saw her as the loving Luna but can be cruel if needed. I remember it was a peaceful pack before the battle starts with hunters and rouges. Pops died from fighting till his last breath giving us the freedom that we have right now. As for Grams, she funded an orphanage for kids and ill wolves that were abandoned from the attacks or just simply those who lost their mates.
"Did you find anything about the pack?" I referred to our conversation yesterday.
"The meeting was actually at your Grams I found out that the Alpha of Nightshade Moon pack was your Pops friend." Dad opened the front door.
"That's why they sounded familiar to me, so are there any sign of threat from the pack?" I commented.
"Nope they are not as per your Grams, the pack is led by Alpha William's son since the eldest daughter denied the position because of personal reason." He pointed out and I analyzed it.
"Any alliances they are involved with?" I inquired while towing Dad as we sat on the receiving area.
"It's an independent pack and they always stay neutral with every battle against hunters and rouges. From your Gram's point of view, that's been the pack's stand for the past 30 years." Dad went to details.
"I just can't dissipate my thoughts on why they are helping rouges? In fact they are the reasons of the attacks that has been happening here and even at the southern part of Yorkshire." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"I was wondering myself but your Grams was certain that after the battle only 20 people survived including Sebastian and Sylvia. Your Gram's helped her friend to raise the heirs secretly." Dad ended the story.
In the pack law when the Alpha dies and there's no successor to take place they will be considered rouges. But if there is an heir, he/she will take over the position when turned eighteen whether man or woman. Moreover, the pack will be once again recognized.
"Now I understand." I acknowledged his doings.
The conversation we had ended when he head Mom hollered from the pantry saying the dinner is served.
"I want you both at the dinning in five!" Mom demanded in our end.
"Coming!" Dad and I both answered the same time and rushed to the dining area.
After the dinner, my thoughts went back to Dad's information about the Nightshade Moon pack. I don't know why but I felt the need to know more about the pack. Something tells me that there has to be deeper reason for that why they opt to be an independent pack.
'Maybe our mate is there?' Crimson cut my thoughts.
'Could be but what if our mate is rouge as well?' I retorted.
'Whatever or whoever she is, I love our mate and don't even think about rejecting her." My wolf grunted.
"I don't plan too I just thought about the possibility." I explained.
"That can happen but my view on this will never change regardless of her status in the pack.' He insisted.
'I know me too even though we haven't met her personally I'm already inlove with her. I have to admit that I have been thinking about her scent all day.' I confessed.
'Exactly what my thought is, why don't we come early tomorrow to school and look for her?" He suggested.
"That's brilliant! Tomorrow it is." I agreed.
"We will not end the day tomorrow until we find her.' My wolf is determined.
'Yeah we will, let's call it a night.' I almost yawned.
Before I knew it my wolf is already snoring at the back of my head so I hit the sack as well. I just hope that we can really find our mate tomorrow.
