Chapter 52 - Issues

' What's the issue, Emma?'. There and then, Emma became aware of the teacher's presence. His eyes darted around the class and saw all active, except for one pair of hazel eyes lingering on him.

He saw her...

She saw him...

Their gazes locked.

All the while he was thinking of her and here she was bodily looking at him. And what was that in her eyes?. Concern?. Was she concerned about him?.

' Emma! '. The teacher's voice removed him from her gaze. He swerved to look at the teacher and when he met the teacher's questioning eyes, he faced her again. She was no more looking in his direction and was now asking the girl by her side, questions.

'I am fine, sir'. He answered the teacher's question. As expected, the male teacher left him after making sure his words matched his actions. Returning to the board, he asked the question again.

'Sir, the answer is 64.438. When approximated to 2d.p, the answer is 64.44'. A female student answered from a corner.

'That's correct, Linda. You may take your sit'.

Emma struggled within himself to not face Diva again and looked forward. What happened to all those water splatterings he did in the toilet?. Were they to go to waste?. To the words, he uttered to himself?. Were they trashed?.

He had tried envisioning Diva as the enemy. A distraction. A pretty distraction sent to him. Where did all the imaginations go to?.

He sighed for the umpteenth time. He was really losing it. Now he longed for the break period where he would regain his sanity.

When the period was over, the next teacher entered with the next following immediately. Emma did not care to pay attention. How was he to pay attention with his distracted senses? He frowned when felt Diva staring at him again. This time it wasn't just her. Her friend was also looking like Diva had lent her some gossip. Now, this was why he never wanted anything with a girl. They would always find something to talk about.

' Do you think he is okay? '. Hailey, who had caught Diva staring at Emma occasionally, asked.

' Hmmm? ' Diva's cheeks flushed red with embarrassment as she was caught staring at Emma.

' I don't know. He had been acting strange since morning. Something very rare with him '.

Rare?. When the teacher had asked Emma if he was okay, she saw him look at her. Like he was telling the teacher, he was not and she was the reason. She turned abruptly to talk with Hailey, the moment he faced the teacher again. Luckily, she heard him tell the teacher he was fine.

' Perhaps he is going through... What do they call it? Yeah... some adolescent things, you know?. Or maybe some family problems. He's a guy with issues. Everyone has issues '. Hailey could only agree with a nod and continued listening to the teacher, but Diva was disturbed.

She retreated to Emma again. Why did he look at her?. She noticed the hatred that used to be in his eyes had dissipated into something she could not fathom.

A bit of confusion, panic, and something more she could not decipher. It was confusing to her. One thing she failed to recognize was that his eyes had brightened up a little when he saw her.

Time can fly. It flys.... then it flew. The break period arrived with shouts and screams. Diva's ears itched. She would never be able to

get used to this.

Hailey was not packing.

' Why? Are you not eating? '. She asked to see the textbook and notebooks on the table.

' No. I won't be joining in the hall today '. She started as she pushed the glasses up the bridge of her nose. ' There is this competition, I was introduced to last week and expected to attend. So sorry, I did not inform on time. It escaped my mind...'. She would have continued if she did not see Diva going through her things.

' Ok then. Do you need assistance? '. Diva offered questioningly.

' No, not really. Can you grab a sandwich for me on your way? '. Diva did not want to admit how lonely she would be in the hall without Hailey. She hoped to meet Dawin.

' Yeah. I can. I should leave you alone then '. She said, masking the sadness in her voice perfectly, and was now along the hallway to the dining hall. New faces everywhere and no friends to talk to. How boring her day would be!.

Walking a few steps, she halts when she noticed a gang of four boys talking at a corner in the hallway. Three surrounded a buzz haircut boy that had his knee folded against the wall. His tie was loose, two buttons up his shirt opened and his sleeves were drawn up to show his thick hand muscles. He was smiling at what they were saying. He lifted his right brow a little but Diva was convinced it was not higher than the one she had that day.

She let her gaze stay on him. He was breathtaking in every way. He was...

He turned to meet her gaze. Again, Diva held her breath when she saw those red eyes looking at her. There was something very intriguing about those eyes. They brought fear to the beholder. diva was scared

He was not removing his eyes and neither was she even when he started stalking to her.
