At the same time in the far north, a castle sat on a hill. It's beauty springing from the elegance of its surroundings.
The majestic waterfalls that cascaded down the sides of the castle, filled the below, transforming into a small lake that served as a home for white ducks that quacked and swam happily on it. The trees at the edge of the lake, ran tall, evergreen and blooming with leaves and fruits that represented life up to the border of the hill again. The sky, brightest blue, hovered over the entire Kingdom, comprising of the castle up the hill and the villages down below; beyond the forest of trees and across the lake.
Up the hill, the castle loomed over the town in all it's splendour. From below, one coukd see the walls that surrounded the castle and still see the castle peeking from beyond. But when close to it, far from the tall trees that clustered together and the lake that flowed never ending, the castle stood erect with the high walls matching in height of the castle with only the tower that accommodated the castle's guards, protecting the royal family from exterior attacks and some times watching the town below, the few houses at close range.
The heavy metalled black gates with no space or interstice, stood in-between the walls, tall and high with spikes on the top. Everyone that visited the castle knows that the in and out of it was through the gates when it has been raised high.
Moreover, these were not the things that caught the eyes of people when metres away from the castle. No, it wasn't. It was the icy-cold atmosphere around it. To say it was something of interest, was an understatement or a divergence from the full truth. A partial truth.
Before anyone would notice the bone-chilling atmosphere, they would've been absorbed in it with their furry coats becoming their only solace.
It was said that this was the coldest kingdom amongst the seven kingdom because they held the 'ice gem'. The rumours had it. Their enemies would freeze to death before laying a finger on the royal family. The market women would add to it.
The castle's guards armed with sheathed swords and halberds, positioned themselves around the castle. Though they were rumors for the cold, chilling atmosphere, the walls paint was in contrast.
The milk colour paint started from the outside to the inside, up to the throne room. Every single room that was visible to the eye was without white or blue, colours that send cold down the spine. Instead on the sight of the cream color, warmth filled the entire being of those that looked upon it.
Strangely, it was true. As those who entered the castle, noticed the fall in temperature. They noted that as they regard the wall, they suddenly feel warm. As though the entire castle was heated by an invisible inferno.
The ceiling was high, the ones in the hallway and the little passages that ran inside the castles and the sides of it, respectively, but none of them was as high as the one in the throneroom.
The throneroom did not only have high ceiling as it's high item, no it didn't. The tinted floor-to-ceiling windows, the chandelier on the ceiling and the portraits of the past and recent kings held in high esteem was hung on the high walls. The high throne stood obviously with blue gems adorning it.
It was the best the people of kingdom and other kingdoms, mostly the nobles and other esteemed people that were privileged to see the castle, the interior of it, would describe the royal castle of the king of the Sapphire kingdom.
King Frederick of the Sapphire Kingdom.
