Lily rested her head on Matthew's shoulder as she continued to hug him. She took a deep breath as she inhaled the scent of Matthew's body that she had not been able to smell for a long time. Meanwhile, Matthew continued to rub Lily's hand while closing his eyes.
"Are you calm now?" Lily asked.
Matthew opened his eyes and took a deep breath. He then nodded slowly. "Thanks, Lily."
Lily straightened herself as she let go of Matthew's arms. At that moment, Matthew suddenly held Lily's hand.
"What's wrong, Matt?" Lily asked.
Matthew turned to Lily. He then stood up from his seat and hugged Lily again. "Let me hug you for a moment."
Lily took a deep breath and let Matthew hug her. She then rubbed Matthew's back. "I can stay if you ask me to stay."
Matthew tightened his grip on Lily. "Please, I don't want to be alone tonight."
Lily nodded her head. She stroked Matthew's head and back so his ex-boyfriend could feel comfortable.
