Chapter 6 - The New World

"What!" I shouted, feeling shocked and angered that the hard work of magical researchers had been thrown out of the window with this new technological advancement.

Being angry at the world for abandoning years of research, I lost control of suppressing my aura as it started leaking into the surroundings. My overwhelming power seeps into the surrounding, causing Samantha to start gagging, choking and suffocating from the pressure I emit.

Realising that, I quickly suppressed my aura and went to help her up.

"I-I'm o-ok", wheeze Samantha as she tries to catch her breath after suffering from a solid insurmountable pressure being released by me.

Once she caught her breath, she continued to explain to me the reason why, "erm…actually, one of the main reasons why we went into this route was to prevent someone like you from popping up again, and if weakening the magic systems doesn't help, at least the weak and helpless now have a weapon themselves to defend against a threat from a warrior or magicians. Well, if they are being taken advantage of…".

As she explained, her voice got softer and softer, fearing that I might not like the reason for such change in the world.

Much to my dismay, I would have never expected that I would be one of the causes of destroying the magical world.

Realising that my actions in the past have caused such dire consequences to happen now, where the entire magical system is declining, made me strengthen my resolve of staying here instead of going back into the sun.

However, a curious nature awoke inside of me when I heard that these so-called weapons could help the weak and helpless fight back; this made me ask, "What sort of weapons are there that could help them stand up against their bullies?"

After hearing my question, she took a weird metal-shaped banana made of many intricate and tiny components out of her strange pouch that seemed to hold the world in it, "This is called a gun, a weapon where we use these pellets to shoot at beast". After, she took out a small black round ball that she introduced as a pellet, placed it in the hole at the gun's tip, and pulled a lever at the bent of the gun.

Bang!

The pellet flew out at an unexpected speed and hit a distant rock making a small dent in it.

Looking at the dent on the rock, I was astonished by its power. Its power was comparable to a first-class spell, the most basic spell of a magician.

Seeing that, I realised the benefits of technology. Now that farmers can defend themselves, they won't be taken advantage of or stepped over by others since most farmers have no magical talent or time to cultivate inner force and become warriors. But now, with these weapons, they can be treated as equals with other warriors and magicians.

Despite that, it makes my heart ache knowing that because of me, the magical system and the particles in the air will soon disappear if magic continues to be on the decline as for magic to prosper, there needs to be a large number of magic users to have a mana core to generate mana in their body and at the same time, tiny traces of it gets released in the surroundings creating more particles in the air allowing a new cycle of people getting awakened with magic talents.

Therefore, the holy lands of magics are where the powerful stay as they can disperse a more considerable amount of magic particles in the air.

If the world is the only one that supplies magic particles, it will take a super genius like in the past to allow the rise of magic again.

Realising that I had not placed my stance, A panicked expression could be seen on her face as sweat dripped down her face.

Before speaking again in a more frantic tone, "actually, other than the technology used for destruction, it has also reduced the number of people dying in winter with the invention of chimneys where we could light a fire in the house without burning it down".

"I understand the practicality of these things, and I don't say that I hate it, but I believe that we shouldn't be too reliant on it. However, using it in moderation wouldn't be so bad" I sighed, thinking how times have changed and maybe I really don't belong in such a world anymore.

Seeing such a look on my face, Samantha quickly changed the subject, "By the way, can I ask if it was true that you broke the supercontinent into six separate continents?"

Turning back at her with a frown, I asked, "What do you mean?"

"Well, right at the end of the holy war, the supercontinent split into six smaller continents and hundreds of thousands of islands all over the world. Legend has it that after you were defeated, using the rest of your powers broke the world apart so that wars will rage for territory, which fuels your power, making you stronger for the day you once again come back and finish us,". Explained Samantha but as if knowing what I was going to say, "but of course, our families knew the truth that you were never defeated. Still, we couldn't figure out if you were really the one who broke the supercontinent?"

This news to me made me interested in this new world but at the same time, angered that those fools I didn't kill started accusing me of something I didn't do and that false victory? I bet they went on living as kings then? Being worshipped as the heroes that vanquished the demon.

However, this time, I controlled myself better; after all, I had already predicted that they would lord themselves as heroes. Sadly it still upsets me about it.

As I calmed my emotions down, I answered Samantha, "No, I did not break the continent apart, but do you think you could explain to me a bit about what has happened now in the outside world?"

She said, "Gladly ", with an angelic smile on her face.
