Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Sorrowful Angel

Metatron, while others may believe him to be happy to be one of the most powerful existence in the world and with a strong backing to put the cherry on top. Only he knew that it wasn't all that sweet deal.

How can it be, when you have to watch your father and mother descend into madness, how can you be happy when the love of your life dies giving birth to your son.

That was the existence of Metatron.

Though it wasn't like he was never happy. It was just that he was seeing his happiness, his family, being broken apart by this cruel world.

He could still clearly remember the day he came into existence, the day he saw both his mother and father smiling as they saw him open his eyes. The day he received his name. The day he saw his little brothers and sisters and swore to protect them.

The day he awakened his power the Star Flame. The purest flames in all of existence. The concentrated power of countless stars, ready to burn his parents' enemies to non-existence. Burning to protect him.

But all that power was for naught when his mother descended into madness, only to be sealed by his crying father.

He thought that he could protect everyone when he awakened the Star Flame, but that day he realized how useless his powers were.

But like his mother had taught him, like a strong angel, he got himself together and trained. He trained and trained, growing stronger and stronger over centuries.

He fought his father's enemies no matter who they were, even gods couldn't stand up against him. Only to point his sword at the very people he swore to protect.

He didn't know how it happened, and neither did he care. The only thing he saw was his brothers and sisters fighting against each other, killing each mercilessly.

The day he hoped would never come came again, when his brother descended into madness; believing he could be the better God.

Tired and frustrated with the madness encroaching upon his family, he left heaven to find a cure. Roaming the world meeting, fighting, drinking with new friends and enemies.

Still, his worries for his family were always there because the longer he spent on his journey to find a cure the more of his siblings were slaughtered.

When all seemed lost, and he was about to give up. He found the answer in the form of his one and only love, Ariel Argento.

A beautiful and kind woman whose only wish was to help as many people as possible. That earned her the moniker of The Mother.

The kindness and love that women showed him, one of the most powerful angels in existence, truly moved him.

And it was at that moment he realized the source of madness that is affecting his family. Human Emotions.

When the humans started to worship them they started to give their burdens to the beings like them. Not all divine beings were affected, like the ones who watched over the river called Indus, the Norse, the Greek, the Aztec, Buddhist, African, and many others. They weren't affected by the madness like his family, though they had some cases, nothing too severe.

However, his father and mother created a religion that worked on the belief of believing in God and letting him wash away your sins, making him very close to humans. And because of this closeness God and the Angels were affected by the emotions of the humans, which were mostly negative. Leading to the current situation.

Once he realized this fact he said goodbye to his love and rushed back to heaven to tell his father.

But all this was for naught as his brother had lost, cast away to hell.

He begged his father to forgive him and let him help Samael and his brothers as they were just affected by the humans' sins. But his father denied him, saying that they must receive their punishments.

Metatron was heartbroken as all his efforts were for naught, but remembering his mother's words and his promise he decided to prevent this from happening in the future to his family.

Hence, the system came into existence, the one responsible for the world of DxD.
