Daimon and Rowena arrived arm in arm, looking every inch a happily married and newlywedded couple. Daimon and Rowena, both thought it best to present a united front to his father.
Since he had no choice but to attend this dinner, he had hoped to use this opportunity to glean some clues as to why his father wanted him to marry her. But his father was a very guarded man, so he wasn't expecting much.
Its not that he was disappointed with Rowena. Quite the opposite, in fact. However, he knew his father cared nothing about his son's happiness. And he couldn't shake the impression that despite being the woman chosen for his bride by the Emperor, Rowena wasn't exactly what the Emperor wanted or expected. And that made him like her even more.
The Emperor glared as the Imperial Couple arrived and took their seats one on either side of the long rectangular table. The Emperor, of course, sat at the head so he was flanked on each side by Daimon and Rowena.
