Rowena continued her studies until dinner time. She hoped Daimon would be finished with his duties as well. She wanted them to enjoy dinner together without interruption tonight.
Rowena didn't wait for him to show up at dinner this time. Punctuality was second nature to Daimon. When 10 minutes had passed after the agreed-upon dinner time and he had not arrived, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Taking the cloth-covered basket used to keep the oven-baked rolls fresh and warm, she filled it with a mixture of sliced ham, roasted vegetables, and a few of the flaky buttered rolls. She covered the food with warm cloth and tucked in some silverware. She grabbed a few slices of different cakes and a bottle of wine for good measure. Then she hurried off to Daimon's study hoping to find him there.
