Chapter 6 - Chapter 5. Outcast.

A prisoner, he called me.

Well, it's not like he was lying. I really was a prisoner. For a minute, I took my time to look around the room and now that I did so, I wish I never did in the first place.

It was a storage room, filled with boxes and abandoned stuff. The paint in the walls had gone cold and were starting to peel off, the roof also looked like it was faulty and worse of all, there was no bed.

This was my new room.

Helio did not let me do as much as pack my belongings before dragging me here, and now that I was here, I get to face a harsher treatment because I was the daughter of the man who robbed him, for this reason alone I began to curse the day I was born as well as my father. It was all his fault that I'm now stuck in such a horrible situation. But, what do I do about this room?

Knock! Knock!

I turned to see a young slim olive skinned woman at the door, she held in her hands a change of clothes. "Change up to this as soon as possible, then come upstairs and meet the head maid." She instructed. All the while as she was saying this, I couldn't help but notice how she looked at me with scorn, her upper lip would sometimes raise high towards her nose while she rolled her eyes. It was rather terrifying I'd have to admit. "Hey." She yelled at me.

"What?!"

She shoved the clothes forward. "Take the dress, or do you want me to change your clothes for you." Embarrassed as I was staring at her, I quickly grabbed the clothes and smiled awkwardly at her as she hisses before angrily storming off. It's not even a day here but I'm already getting enemies, I doubt I'll be making any friends here.

Still, what am I going to do about this room.

At the end I left my new room unattended to. I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror because of that, it's not like I had any mirrors in the first place but still.

I tried to find my way out by remembering my way in here, because my room was positioned at the innermost part of the house, that way, I doubt anyone would come searching for me should anything happen and after a long time of wandering and taking turns, I arrived.

As I approached the hallway, I spotted the one who gave me the clothes and knew I was in the right place. "New girl, you're late on your first day already." A middle aged woman with grey hair and a dry appearance said, before her stood a long line of roughly about twenty girls. "It's better you get used to your new life soon. It'll be best for you, believe me." She said. "Please stand over there." I nodded in accordance and stood with the others. "Everyone, since today is almost over, I'll like to brief us about tomorrow's schedule. The maid in charge of the young master for this week should please remember to wake up by four o'clock in the morning and assist him, it's important to remember to throw away today's clothing and prepare tomorrow clothings before he is done with showering, and also do not forget to check his meal, but most importantly do not go near him. The other maids should carry on with their tasks, divide yourselves into groups of fours so I can share the house chores." She instructed.

As she said, everyone began clinging on to their partner, all the while I couldn't understand anything. I wasn't introduced, and although I was told that I'd be his personal maid, I got to find out that everyone has turns behind his chauffeur and by the number of girls here I'd probably have to see him at least once every five or six months. That's good for me.

No one was choosing me, at the end, only me and a lone girl were paired. All together there were five groups and with us, we were twenty two. "Since it is only the both of you left, I'll give you a different chore." She said. And with that, we joined the kitchen staff. "That's it for tonight, you can go to bed now."

Before I returned to my room, I decided to meet with the girl I was going to be working with. "Hello." I greeted her. "I'm Rebecca. Nice to meet you." I politely said. But then she looked towards the opposite direction where I spotted a bunch of other maids who were eyeing us and knew she was a target. It was either because she spoke to me or because they don't like both of us.

"Edith." She finally said, "I'll get going, you have a busy day tomorrow Rebecca." She told me. I was so happy that she at least spoke to me that I walked happily to my room. It wasn't until I arrived that I remembered the horrible scene in my room.

Shit!

This isn't fair. I'm treated worse than an animal for god sake.

Squeak!!!

A small creature outta nowhere ran out of my room and I jumped up and down in fear. A mouse. Frightened I ran out of the room immediately, and slammed the door shut behind me, breathing heavily as I tried to calm my racing heart. Ha! This is worse than I thought. My living here is going to be hell, what have you gotten me into, father. I wanna go home.

As I rest my back against the door, the door throws itself open and I find myself collapsing to the floor. Now the door is in bad condition as well.

I sit on the cold floor for a while, and then wrap my hand around my knee, and then my emotions that I had been holding in all this while, flooded through.

Sniff, sniff.
