Chapter 3 - Chaoter 3: The Journey Continues

Cole still had to add his attribute points from leveling up. He had 25 points from leveling up 10 times. He planned to add them to the stats he felt would be helpful to the current him. Before he did that though, he looked at the beast that was slowly dissolving into particles of light. Cole saw that the remenants of darkness were decaying it's body.

'Huh, looks like the darkness has a Decaying Effect on those who are attacked with it. Good to know.'

Cole decided that he was mostly utilizing his dark weapons and that they were better than any weapon he'd seen so far and he could control them so he'd allocate his stats like a Battle Mage. But he won't neglect his agility because it doesn't matter how strong or how much magic you have if you can't hit your opponent. The agility stat affects not only walking/running speed, but attack speed senses and ability to dodge attacks. his new stats looked like this.

Cole instantly felt filled with a power he didn't quite understand, it was different from his innate skill which felt more like he had always known how to use it

Cole realized during his fight that his [Umbrakinesis] skill has a lot more uses than he was utilizing because he was still thinking like a close combat user when he has magic. He spent the next thirty minutes coming up with new uses for the ability and his lack of control was an issue but as long as he can picture what he wants he can at least use whatever he thinks off but only at a basic level.

The most recent thing he thought of with his skill is he used the skill to make a shield of just darkness itself, and pretty much every weapon he had ever used. His most favorite use he found for this skill was the travel. He made wings of darkness based on the wings that he had seen on eagles.

In that instant, giant black wings that mostly looked like wings of smoke sprouted from Cole's back and he jumped into the air..... Then he immediately fell face first into a nearby dirt mound.

'Hmm looks like I don't have enough mastery or control to attempt that..... yet.'

Cole then had another idea he created an armor he had seen and used back when he played videos games daily. It consists of 4 pieces: chest armor, gloves, boots and a hood the armor actually looked physical like his spear and had the same coiling dragon motif on it.

Just as Cole was going to head out he saw there was one more message he didn't open.

'It either appeared at the same time as the others or right before and I skipped over it.'

[Congratulations for being the first Player to reach level 10, you can now select a class that aligns with your current character. Also you may now begin to create skills through repeated practice and patience.]

That was what Cole was waiting for, it allowed him to make his weapon creation ability into an actual skill. So while Cole was heading towards the other side of the city of Seattle where his parents and little sister lived, he continuously created Dark Daggers and practiced controlling them to rotate around him. He did this for a couple hours as he walked around avoiding the beasts for now as he built up his strength, until finally he received a notification from his system.

[Congratulations Player for creating your first skill.]

[Skill [Dark Dagger] has been created.]

Cole continued to do this for the rest of the day, for all of his weapons that he thought of making before. He did it for different Spears and Swords, Bow & Arrow, Bo Staff, Axe, Scythe, and even Tonfa which was one of the last weapons he trained in. Although he created all these weapons, he was most experienced with his spear so he will mostly use it. He only created the others just to give him more versatility, to react to various situations.

Cole then focused on the new skill to see it's description.

[Dark Dagger] (Active) Create a Dagger of Darkness that can be remotely controlled by the Player. Can increase number and strength of daggers by increasing mastery over [Umbrakinesis].

Now Cole knew he didn't actually need to create these skills because he could use the darkness ability with just his inherent skill, but the repeated practice would help increase his mastery. There were multiple skills with a nearly identical description as his Dark Dagger for each Dark Weapon he created and after that something interesting happened.

An unexpected series of messages popped up in front of him.

[Multiple similar skills detected, now merging skills together]

[Unique Skill [Dark Weaponry] has been created].

[Mastery of inherent skill [Umbrakinesis] has increased].

[Congratulations player, for being the first to create a unique skill awarded +1 to all stats].

Cole was feeling a mix of shock and happiness. He is getting stronger. He is now just one step closer to being able to save his family.

Cole opened up his skills list to see the description of his new skill.

[Dark Weaponry] {Unique} (Active/Passive) Can create multiple different weapons of darkness. Using a weapon of darkness gives 10% increased damage and 3% chance to inflict [Paranoia] on target.

Cole looked at the status effect and it showed it's use.

[Paranoia] Target becomes susceptible to mental attacks and will start to attack allies out of fear.

This was a great addition to his power. Although it has a low chance to be inflicted, it will definitely be something that will be useful in a team battle.

After assessing his gains Cole started his journey once again. He started heading downtown where his parents and little sister lived. It took longer than Cole would have liked, because of the many beasts he had to fight but he finally reached his destination.

Cole looked at the state of downtown Seattle, it was utterly destroyed. The streets were overrun with beasts, and he became increasingly worried for his family's safety. He started running towards his parents home, which was about 5 miles from the Space Needle.

He didn't have time to be careful of the beasts around so he just used his wings by just flapping them to get up into the air and reach a fire escape and started jumping from building, using the wings to give him a rudimentary double jump to make it from building to building to avoid the beasts on the ground.

He reached his house, and saw something that will haunt him forever, the house had been destroyed, there was blood everywhere. He immediately ran to his parent's rooms, and what he saw made him just stop and collapse on to his knees. He saw peices of them in every corner of the room. Whichever beast did this, didn't eat his family but simply ripped them apart. Cole didn't know which he prefered, and was just starely blankly at what was left of his family.

Cole then heard a familiar scream that snapped him out of his stunned state. It was his sister's voice, he knew it. She was still alive and she was in danger. He will make sure she is safe and he will never let her go again. Even if she hates him for what he will do, he doesn't care. Whether beast or man, he will kill them all to keep his sister safe.

'Please.... If there is still a god, please let me get there on time, because I don't know what I'll do if I don't.'
