After traveling for around 2 hours, they made it to the base. According to Chloe, the guy had been using the building that housed the New York Stock Exchange as a temporary base of operations and had been keeping all of his hostages in a separate room
The twins said that they would have to cuff Cole and bring him to the guy. They said that he would most likely put him with the rest of hostages as long as didn't agree to work for him. He wouldn't be with the hostages long, as the guy, who they said was named Michael Felding, would like to make the new people squirm and be imprisoned for a few days without food and water and then they would normally agree to join him.
Cole agreed and said that it would be perfect and he could use the time he was imprisoned to save the rest of the hostages and once they were safe, he'd take care of Michael for them.
....
(At Entrance of Base)
"Hey jag off it's us, let us in we got a potential with us!!" Chloe shouted as she was obviously the more outspoken of the twins.
"Ah if it isn't the Twin Reapers, what'd you bring us this time?" A voice asked as a makeshift metal gate was opened.
Apparently the base was fortified with barbed and razor wire and walls made of what appeared to be concrete and steel were eructed around the general area and a metal gate that was electrified was the only way in.
Cole noticed some military elements to the surrounding area. This could be an indicator that this Mike was prior military just like Cole. After all not many civilians knew how to get both Razor Wire and Barbed Wire. Hell, most civilians didnt know the difference between the two.
Cole then looked at the twins amd questioned.
"Twin Reapers?"
"We both received similar assassin classes with our systems." Zoe answered succinctly.
Zoe had warmed up to Cole a little during their brief journey to HQ as Michael called it. She still didnt like him, but would at least answer his questions if he asked as opposed to just letting Chloe answer.
'Hmm, interesting.' Cole thought to himself.
The twins dragged Cole inside the HQ and since he never had any Beast Armor as it was called, he looked super weak. Like a total Noob as the guys that saw him said. Even the twins said that, that was the reason they chose him as a target. He looked like he was weak because he had no gear.
Evidently, people could take Cores, that would form inside higher ranked beasts, as well as pieces of the beasts themselves, and use them to create weapons and armor.
Cole didn't know about this because after he buried his family he went and burned all the monster corpses and all the blood and guts that were scattered throughout the city, beast and human alike and left. He also could make his own armor from his skills so he never even thought about using the beasts to make armor.
Cole would never use Beast Armor anyways. He didn't care if they had been purified, he refused to let even one peice of a beast touch him.
Cole also had his Reaper's Scythe which he discovered had kept the strength it had absorbed from the Beasts. Well it kept the strength from their souls, the boost from the blood dissipated with the Scythe itself.
All of Cole's created weapons could benefit from being strengthened by the blood of beasts, but only his Scythe could absorb souls and the strength would remain.
Cole was yet to find out if his scythe could be strengthened by human souls or human blood, but did discover that his spear was barely strengthened by Chloe's blood. Maybe it has something to do with how bad the person is. He would figure it out as used it anyways, so he wasn't going to dwell on it.
Cole was finally brought into a large room and a makeshift throne was sitting in the center of the room made of the same as the walls outside so they were clearly created in a similar way.
"My beautiful reapers. What gift have you brought your master today?" The guy who appeared to be the boss, therefore Michael, said.
The twins shivered visibly and I could see them grits their teeth. Obviously he made them very angry and uncomfortable. But they answered as they had to. They kicked my body forward and I slid on my knees in front of Michael and was kneeling as if he was my king.
The whole situation pissed me off, but I had to save the hostages and couldn't risk an all out assault as he might've used the hostages as a bargaining chip so this was the only way to make sure they were safe.
"We found this noob entering the city early this morning. Dumbass didn't even have any gear, it was honestly a waste to have us take care of him." Zoe said while insulting me as I had instructed her to do as it would sell my act.
"Did you find out what system he has?" Michael asked.
"He was very tight lipped about that but we did manage to find out that it was combat related." Zoe replied with our agreed upon information that we would give.
At the words "combat related," Michael's eyes gained a gleam to them and I could see he was excited.
"Oh, combat related huh? That's great, another member for my army. Depending on what his system is and the powers it gives him will determine what division he will be in. But based on his appearance, he'll most likely be a part of the Infantry Division." Michael said, the latter part of his words were more him thinking out loud.
Michael then walked down from his throne and stood above me. He put his finger under my chin and made me look at him.
"So how about it noob, wanna join my army and be a part of my glorious empire?" He asked with a smug grin.
I was even more pissed so I decided to vent a little. I hocked a lougie right in his eye and started to laugh.
Michael got angry and backhanded me. It didnt hurt at all and if I hadn't moved myself, It wouldn't have even moved my head. He groaned in pain.
"Damn what is that bastard's face made of?? it felt like I slapped metal!" Michael said but wrote it off as he simply hit him too hard and it was own strength who hurt himself.
"Fine, you wanna be like that? We'll see how you feel after a week without any food or water. Depending on your level you can live a little longer without food and water and even sleep, but based on what I see before me, you won't last much longer." Michael said as he snapped his fingers and the guards brought me to what they called "the dungeons" where they held the rest of the hostages.
What neither Michael or the guards could see due to my head being down, was the giant smirk on my face.
'You're already dead. You just don't know it yet' I thought happily.
