Chapter 53 - Chapter 53

Jack's POV

I would be lying if I said I wasn't anxious for what was to come, I mean Jake not even a couple of hours ago was finally claimed, and yet our war was far from over. Alex and Jake said goodnight after cuddling for what seemed like years, but in reality, was just a couple of hours, and we got back in our truck before heading back home. We stopped by a gas station and picked up a couple of sodas, then as we got back in the car I started to bring Jake up to speed on the news from Lucy.

"So, Milo and Gloria, got out and are now in the wider world? What do we need to do then?"

"Lucifer's orders were to find and guide them, to have them join our family so that they don't just spontaneously destroy everything, Milo was stuck in the void for almost as long as I was before I met you. Lucifer fears that if we don't give them structure, something to believe in, a cause worth fighting for then they'll destroy everything in their path; I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to take that kind of chance," I said before flooring the gas and putting the peddle to the medal, and before long we were home with the whole family waiting outside for us.

"Jake, send Alex a message that we're going out for the night, it was nice to spend time with her again but this takes top priority. Johnny, Derek, grab as many guns and as much ammo as we have and pack the trucks. Jade and Nicki, get as much Lucifer's cola as we can pack, it might a while before we come back here and I don't want to leave anything of value to be stolen," I said and it wasn't long before everyone was working as one, we were a family, dysfunctional as we are, and when we're given orders of someone in need we follow to the ends of the Earth. Jake sent the message to Alex before plugging his phone into our truck and got a playlist ready; In the meantime, I was running throughout the building, locking down all the rooms and making sure anything and everything that we weren't taking with us was in a safe location or hidden away, before getting back outside to see everyone in their respective vehicles and Jake looking at a map of the U.S.

Jake's POV

As Jack exited the house, we took a look at the map and started thinking about where to go from here, Jack's idea was to split up into groups as we would be able to cover more ground that way. The issue with that was if we split up and one group found them, they'd have to wait until we caught up with them, else they could scare them off and cause a bad reaction: Not that we were the best-case scenario, but we didn't have much of a choice, they needed family and we were more than happy to provide regardless of how dysfunctional we were.

"What about this?" Jade said before grabbing a marker and drawing a star where we were, taking Jack's divide and conquer idea but spreading it out so that we were as efficient as possible with our time, Jack was pretty sure that they were somewhere in Arizona, and so he and I decided to set our sights there. Jade and Nicki would more or less handle the midwest, while Derick and Johnny would handle the east coast. The rest of our family was split up amongst the two other teams while Jack and I fused and got in the truck.

Jacke's POV

It wasn't a surprise as we got on the highway that Alex sent us a text with half a dozen questions, and while we would normally answer in a heartbeat we were a bit busy at the moment, so Jake grabbed the phone and typed a few answers, not taking a long amount of time so as to not land us in a car crash; Only to resume the music and continue down the I-35 towards Arizona, back to where our entire story began, but we had purpose and meaning behind returning here and we had no intentions of stopping just because of a little trauma.

'Alucard's theme' from the Hellsing OST played and we sang to our heart's content as we traveled down the highway to hell, Arizona was insanely hot during the summer reaching as high as 128 degrees Fahrenheit one year, but the heat was our bread and butter. Jake remembered a time when he had been out on a walk one year, and it was around 9 pm when he did so, while out he was heading towards a Walmart and saw a shooting star.

"I vividly remember how depressed I was that day, and made a wish for a 'Demonic love', a love so intense it was borderline monstrous. I guess I got my wish, huh, Jack?"

"Yeah, and I don't know about you man, but this path we walk has never been easy; But now we don't have to walk it alone, and we never will again. You deserved to be loved then, and you deserve to be loved now, Jake. Never forget that."

"If he is not worthy, then let him be called a bitch!" Jake yelled out into the night sky, only to get a text from Alex that read, "My bitch, Jakey boy, remember that ;)"

"Fuck my life," Jake said, as we were grinning a stupid-looking grin, but we didn't care. We were happy, something we hadn't felt in ages, and we had no intentions of getting off this crazy ride anytime soon.
