Chapter 55 - Chapter 55

Jacke's POV

Before getting back in the car, Jake gave Milo the link to his music mix on YouTube just in case they wanted to listen to our kind of music, and then we fused and hit the road heading for home. They followed us surprisingly well, but we weren't too worried, one way or another we knew they'd be safe with us; As we continued down the road, we sent a message out to Jade and Derick to head back home, and that we had found Milo and Gloria and were heading home ourselves. 'Open Your Eyes' started playing on the radio, and we got a bad feeling, something had gone down and we were starting to get worried about it. Jake sent a message to Alex, "Make some time, and meet us at home, something's gone down and we don't like it. Not one bit," before I floored the gas and signaled to Milo to floor it too; We couldn't afford to get separated, it wasn't something we could afford to lose here, we opened a portal on the road to speed up and after they got in we closed it behind us as we arrived; But it was too late, our home laid in ruins, burned down to ashes.

Jake's POV

I was at a loss for words, Jack was pacing trying to keep his cool but I was stuck in my head as a storm of questions flew around trying to figure out what had happened. We sat there for an hour or so before the rest of the family got back and saw what had happened, some were angry, others were in tears over what had happened, and Milo and Gloria were sitting on the hood of their car talking.

"Who would've done this?!"

"That's a bold question to ask Jacke, we've made a lot of enemies during our time on this earth, it could be anyone; However, I think I have an idea as to who did this, you remember 'Dia De Los Muertos'? Back in the '90s?" I said, and Jack immediately snapped his head up as it hit him, and for the first time in decades, I saw blatant fear on his face. I didn't blame him at all but judging from the confusion on everyone else's faces, we were the only ones who remembered them. Not that we could ever forget, a day of mourning for us, come back to bite us in the ass.

"Something tells me I'm late, what happened?" Alex said walking up to join me on the hood of the truck, and Jack started telling the story of our greatest defeat, and our greatest enemy we've ever fought. It was a good fight, but we lost many soldiers on that day and remembering it filled us both with dread.

Jack's POV

"It all started 1978, in June, we had just gotten done with a sweep of San Antonio when we got word of an attack going on in Austin. A literal army of the undead was swarming an outpost we had established, and when we got there we found the remains of hundreds of our own men being eaten by these walking corpses, and their leader was being carried on a golden throne; She just sat there, watching as her minions ate away at our friends and family, and when she saw that we were standing there in horror, what does she do? She asks us to join her!" Jack said as he painted the scene in the air, his memory was picture perfect and we both remembered the slaughter we had caused that day. Every single corpse was sent back to hell, only for her to laugh and bring them back, we fought for days and days; It was a battle of the unstoppable force and the immovable object until we thought we had reached our limit, and on our knees exhausted she pushed us further, mocking our pain and claiming us to be a hero. After she said that, we were done and called upon every soul in hell to fuel our rage, only to create a thermonuclear explosion at our feet: When we awoke she was dead, and only her skeletal remains were left, but apparently that was all it took for her to come back.

"Now you see it, huh, kid?" Came a voice from behind us, and there she fucking was, the she-devil that took everything that mattered from us, only for us to shatter what limits we had and beat her. Everyone stood up and stared with murderous intent, except for Jake, he was still sitting down staring this bitch down as if he didn't she would just vanish, "Aww, hello little Jakey, how's the broken heart?"

"Just fine, how's your broken spirit?" He said, and it inspired a bit of confidence that got everyone ready, even if there was nothing left but him he could bring us all back from the brink of ruin with a simple speech, and that's what I admired most about him. He wasn't just a little kid anymore, he was a full-on man, and we both know we wouldn't back down against someone who threatened our family.

"I see you've got yourself a little girlfriend too, does she know about us? About how you once served me loyally, all because I called you nice names and made you smile? Even knowing that I could destroy you with a simple word?" She said, and if it weren't for Jake holding Alex's hand, she might've actually had a bloodthirsty animal on her hands, "I hope you don't think that I'm just going to sit back and relax, now that I've bested you, It may just be your home. But I know how much this little tower of yours means to you, hun."

This bitch was trying to get under his skin and piss Jake off, it was blatantly obvious; Yet, Jake only stood up, lit a cigar, and took a puff. She wasn't ready for whatever Jake was going to say, I don't think any of us were, but I knew he had a plan: Once a planner, always a planner.

"Bold of you to assume that I care about this place, a tower is a tower, plain and simple. Unfortunately for you, we had a lot of stuff in this one that we care about, so I'm going to give you two options: 1, You leave, and go back home, plain and simple no muss no fuss. Or, if you're feeling bold, you can choose the 2nd option. You know, the one where we rip out your intestines and hang you from a noose, only the burn you with the fire of a thousand suns. Your choice, of course, but I don't think you quite grasp the reality of the situation you're in, Mi Amor. I don't love you anymore, you're nothing but a stain on my map now, and I'm going to get rid of you: One way or another."
