I woke up after a restless sleep, saw that I was in my bed, and not in hell or a dream. I sat up, tired as all hell, and walked over to my window to see that it was indeed still night, so I did what any rational person with supernatural powers would do...I opened the window and jumped. Before I hit the ground I spread my wings and up I went, sky-high as fast as a plane almost, this was why being hell-spawn was amazing; you can do things that no other supernatural can do without fearing whether or not it will lead to your demise. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and turned on some music before diving to get some momentum, then pulled back and I was flying at the speed of light...almost, to wherever I felt like going. It wasn't long before I was at a truck stop just south of San Antonio, it was a twenty-four-hour place so I knew they'd be open at the crack of dawn, or whatever time it was.
"Hello, how can I help you?" I heard from the checkout, behind it there was a burly guy, maybe 5'11 to 6' tall and looked like he had one too many gas station burritos.
"Just getting a fountain drink, ya mind if I pay upfront?"
"No problem, what size?"
"Fifty-two ounce, if ya have it."
"That we do, it'll be a buck sixty," he said and I handed him two ones and headed towards the fountain drink area, it was just like any other fountain drink station, the different soda brands, the huge fountain cups, and the additives like flavorings and caffeine shots. Whenever I get a fountain drink, I make Lucifer's cola, Cola with cherry flavoring and caffeine shots, which gives me enough energy to turn myself into a miniature nuke...probably. I made my drink, waved goodbye to the clerk, and left the building out into the cold, yet comforting night.
"How did I know that I'd find you out here?" I heard from behind me, and turned around to see Alex standing there with a smirk, almost as if it was the only way her face was.
"Maybe scent? Or just that I go to gas stations to get sodas a lot."
"One of those two, I'll let you figure out which one it is, pup," She said, leaning against the building wall, I felt that there was something she wanted to talk about...probably Detroit.
"You're still mad about the whole Detroit thing, aren't you?"
"You mean blowing up a police station in Detroit because you were fucking bored?! Yeah, I'm just a bit pissed about that, just a wee bit," She said, sarcasm seething through her tone, I could tell why I was mated to her.
"I can see that you are upset, I just don't know why. Is there some connection between you and the city of Detroit, or do you just not like that I blew up a police station?"
"I don't understand why your first instinct when you're bored is to blow shit up, is it really that fun to you?"
"Meh, the force of habit," I said, taking a sip from my soda while trying not to laugh at the glare I was getting from Alex, I knew she was serious but it was funnier than anything else. She clearly wasn't having fun though, she was completely deadpan, which only made the situation funnier to me.
"You know that you're not going to be able to blow anything and everything up when you're my Luna, right?"
"Yeah, but that just makes it more important to get the explosions in now while I still can, I mean who knows when the next time I'll be able to blow up part of a city will be. Besides, it's not like I'm purposefully killing every innocent life there is, cops aren't that innocent, and most bystanders are just because they're too close to the action," I said, trying to put some kind of a sarcastic note in this, mainly cuz sass and sarcasm were my fluent languages aside from English.
"I like that you focused entirely on the explosions part and paid absolutely no mind to the fact that I brought up you being my Luna."
"I don't even know what a Luna is, is it some fancy word for boyfriend? Or maybe comrade?" I said, genuinely confused, and in hindsight, I really wished I hadn't asked that question.
