Chapter 37 - Loyalty

"Madam I would like to talk to you" said the maid as she took a deep breath, and she decided to go on with what she wanted to do.

"About what?" asked Natasha as she eyed the maid.

"About the maid. My friend Lexi" said the maid.

"You want to talk to me about that brat?" asked Natasha as she scoffed, she could not believe this, yes it was true, someone could see everything in this world.

"Madam I would really appreciate it, if you would grant me the chance to speak to you" said the maid as she bowed her head.

"At least this one is not as stuck up as the last one" thought Natasha to herself.

"But then again, you can never know what is truly in people's hearts" she said to herself.

"What is your name?" asked Natasha, in her past life she had never made any attempt to know the names of all the staffs in the house, she had spend her time focusing on something, or rather say someone who wasted her time.

Natasha already had a list of the names of servants in this house, and the first maid who was privileged enough to brand herself as a disrespectful, disobedient, waste of time and space person.

So she had made it to Natasha's list of bad people, and Lexi was now number one on that list, and if this maid claimed to be the friend of Lexi, than that meant that they were the same, as the saying went birds of the same feather flock together.

"My name is Amalia Madam" said Amalia as she bowed.

"I see" said Natasha as she was sure she had never seen or heard of this maid before.

"Madam, I apologize for interrupting you this early morning, but I really have something important to discuss with you, if you would please give me and audience" said Amalia as she bowed her head down.

"It is good that you know you are disturbing me this morning" said Natasha.

"Sit down" she said as she wanted to get whatever this was done and over with. She was not a wicked person, so she was going to hear what this maid had to say.

"Thank you Madam" said Amalia as she looked relieved and she sat down on the seat right across Natasha's desk.

"Now start talking" said Natasha as she looked at the time on her laptop, it was "9:05am" which meant that Joy would be awake soon.

"Yes Madam" said Amalia.

"Madam I came here today to talk to you about Lexi, the maid you punished" said Amalia as she wanted to be sure that Natasha knew who she was talking about.

"Yes I remember her" said Natasha as how could she forget someone as stupid as her who could not even bridle her big tongue.

"A very rude, young girl" said Natasha.

"Yes Madam, that is her" said Amalia, because as much as she would to defend Lexi, that was her nature, she was naturally very rude, and she had always warned her about that, and she never listened, and yet here she was.

Lexi had still been crying all weekend because she was not going to get paid for three months, that was a very painful punishment.

Amalia could not bear to see her friend so devastated like that, so this morning when she saw Alfred preparing tea, she knew that it would be for the Madam, and she quickly volunteered to be the one to serve the Madam's tea. Alfred was sceptical at first since he did not want another Lexi incident, but he trusted Amalia so he let her go.

"Madam I am here to beg on her behalf" said Amalia.

"I will even kneel if you need me too" said Amalia as she got off the chair and she kneeled on the floor.

"Madam, please spare Lexi, please remove her punishment" said Amalia as she begged Natasha and pleaded with her.

Natasha was surprised, she did not expect this at all, this was the first time someone had come to beg and even kneel on the behalf of someone who truly deserved what was happening to them.

Natasha sighed, as much as she would want to say that this gesture did not move her, it did and she could not lie to herself.

"Please get up" said Natasha as her tone changed from a cold tone to a soft one.

"Madam??" asked Amalia as she continued pleading.

"Please get up Amalia, we cannot continue our conversation like this" said Natasha as she sighed.

"So please get up" said Natasha once again, she hated herself for being so soft.

"Alright Madam" said Amalia as she got off her knees and she sat back down on the chair.

"Are you aware of what your friend did to get herself punished like that?" asked Natasha as she looked at Amalia.

"Yes Madam, I am" said Amalia as she nodded her head.

"I know that Lexi was very rude to you, she overstepped her boundaries, and she did not feel remorseful at all" said Amalia.

"It is a good thing that you know all that" said Natasha.

"And that is why on that note, I will not spare Lexi from her punishment" said Natasha.

"But Madam" said Amalia.

"But nothing" said Natasha.

"Look I admire you" said Natasha.

"You are a very true friend, not every friend would go begging on the behalf of someone who truly deserves the rewards of their action" said Natasha because if there was something she truly admired, that would be loyalty.

"You are a good person" said Natasha as she smiled.

"And as much as I would love to spare Lexi, it just is not possible, it is not beneficial to her at all if her punishment is reversed without her suffering at all for a while" said Natasha.

"You are a smart girl, and I am sure that you know what I am saying is correct" said Natasha.

"Yes Madam" said Amalia as she nodded, she knew that Natasha was right, as much as she would love for Lexi to now cry, and for everything to be better, she was sure that Lexi needed this punishment, so she would change her behaviour.

"I am just worried of those that would suffer because of her stupid mistake" said Amalia as she was referring to Lexi's siblings and parents who were all dependent on her.

"I too am sorry about that, but if she had as big of a brain as her mouth, she would have saved some money by now" said Natasha, she had looked at the records, and she found out that they paid their servants more than the normal salary of other domestic workers.

And not to even talk about they get to live in a beautiful estate and their food is always provided for them.

"I wish that was the case Madam" said Amalia as she sighed, knowing Lexi, she was sure that she always spend all the money she received, she never once ever thought of saving.

"I know that you care for your friend, and if you really do, you will let her serve her punishment" said Natasha.

"It is only through suffering that someone can learn obedience" said Natasha.

"And besides, it is not like I will deprive her of food, or a place to live, no she just will not receive her salary for three months, it won't kill her, or her family either" said Natasha.

"Yes, you are right Madam" said Amalia.

Natasha liked this girl, she was sensible, and most of all she had a big heart and Natasha liked that.

"I am sorry for any inconvenience I have caused you by bringing up this topic" said Amalia

"No it was no trouble at all" said Natasha.

"It was good that you came, so you will know what truly happened" said Natasha as she picked up the teapot and she poured tea into her teacup.

"Madam thank you for your time" said Amalia as she smiled.

"It was no bother at all" said Natasha as she smiled, Even though there were bad people in the world, there were also good people too, and Amalia just happened to be one of them.

"Madam, If you would please allow me, I have to get back to doing my duties" said Amalia.

"You may go" said Natasha.

"Thank you Madam" said Amalia as she stood up.

"You are welcome" said Natasha as she smiled.

As soon as Amalia left Natasha's eyes went serious and she picked up her phone and dialled a number.

"Hey Pete, good morning" said Natasha as she smiled as her call was picked.

"Morning Nat" said Peter as he smiled.

"So can we go to the shooting range today??" asked Natasha.

"After what happened on Saturday, I do not think so" replied Pete.

"Oh Pete, come on, that was just a one time thing" said Natasha.

"For some reason I do not believe you" said Pete.

"Come on please" said Natasha.

"*Sigh* Okay fine, we can go there at 2pm" said Pete.

"Thank you Pete" said Natasha as she smiled.

"Don't thank me yet" said Pete.

"I have to go now, something needs my attention" said Pete.

"Okay Pete, take care, see you at 2" said Natasha as she smiled brightly.

"See you" said Pete as he ended the call.
