"What the fuck do you mean it's hatching?!" Mystic asked as he ran to Rocky's side.
Rocky just put the egg down and backed away, curious and frightened to see what would come out. As the little beast hatched out of the egg, it was an obsidian creature with tentacles and a mouth that was around the same size as a house dog.
"Ew, that looks gross," Moon said as she looked away, and the next second, the creature leaped in the air with its jaw agape. Nina jumped in front, slamming her fist atop its head, slamming it on the ground with enough force to turn it into a paste.
Duggar saw this and was disappointed they didn't have a sample to take back, and now that he thought about the egg, "If this one hatched, what about the others," he thought as his eyes widened in horror. If they did all hatch, being able to kill them wasn't the problem, but there were thousands of eggs from what they had seen.
"Nina! Focus on the cave!" Duggar immediately commanded the others who went into the cave with Duggar were confused at first, but after looking at his expression, they instantly got the idea and turned to look at the little beast on the floor.
"Fuck, I hope he's wrong," Wayne thought but knew it was highly unlikely.
After two minutes, Nina opened her eyes with sweat trickling down her face and gasped for air.
"They're coming!" She let out as she tiredly looked toward the waterfall. A few moments later, above the noise of the waterfall, there was an orchestra of screeching, and it got louder and louder until, eventually, the first few hundred hopped from the cave, landing in the lake, swimming at high velocity towards the group standing on the other side.
Nina pained through to use her ability until she fell to her knees.
"There's too many! We have to retreat!"
Duggar looked at her and back at the creatures coming towards them in hordes. He wanted to desperately get rid of these for multiple reasons. He would have a higher chance of getting promoted due to the unexpected tier of the mission, and he would be able to impress his sponsor. The major downside to leaving would be if these things got out and caused a riot, they would be the ones responsible essentially.
"NightFall, do you think you can do this?" Duggar hurriedly looked at him, Wayne just shook his head as he went to stomp on the closest one towards their group.
"You have ten minutes, we won't be far, everybody retreat!" Duggar said as he lifted everyone up in the air with his ability and took off.
Meanwhile, in the trees in the distance, Kev and Ben were looking at Duggar, seeing that he and his team had flown off.
"What the heck? Why are they leaving? Should we leave too?" ben asked Kev with a nervous look on his face.
"I don't know, they left a teammate of there's behind, maybe he can take care of it, but I'm having an uneasy feeling about it," Kev said with a bit of worry.
"Well, I've seen enough, I'm leaving!" Ben said as he hurriedly ran to the town while Kev stayed back and stared at the back of Wayne.
"Why are you leaving him!" Rocky said, wriggling in the air, trying to get down.
"If anyone of us can take down all of those things, it would be him," Duggar said with a serious expression on his face, landing on the ground a distance away from where they just were.
"Besides, do you think I like putting such a burden on someone? Especially a new team member, after what happened last time," Duggar said with a pained expression as everyone looked down, knowing exactly what he was talking about.
"His powers are more suited for mobs than what we can do, plus we would just get in his way," Duggar said as he looked in the distance and hoped he was right about what he did and didn't just leave a new member to die.
At the same time, Wayne was at the lake, watching the beasts pour out from behind the waterfall.
[Death Smoke] [Shadow Void] [Dark Flame]
Wayne activated his abilities in quick succession, getting to an area on top of the trees where he could see the opening of the cave and release the devasting fire. The beasts that were engulfed in flames perished even when they jumped in the water to put out the fire.
Wayne's fire went out, and still, he could see more coming out, and now some were even wrapping their tentacles around the tree, climbing up, trying to get to Wayne.
[Torretial Spikes]
Wayne let off a few spikes at the ones on the trees while hopping to the tree next to him.
"Fuck! I don't know if I can do this," Wayne thought as these beasts seemed endless.
He began the outpour of his strongest attack for the next five minutes, burning down all the trees that were within a mile and even drying up the lake from turning it into steam, and his [Death Smoke] was still active.
After he was done, he was drenched in sweat, barely conscious, and had a few scrapes and cuts all over his body. The area looked barren as if it had been devoid of life for years.
The next minute Duggar and the others came back to see Wayne barely standing with the area singed to hell.
"Do you still think he isn't strong enough?" Rocky asked with a sly smirk towards Mystic.
"Mystic just looked at the area with amazement, wondering what the hell this kid did to produce this much wreckage.
"Did you get all of them?"Duggar asked as soon as he landed in front of Wayne.
"I think so..." Wayne said weakly, about to topple over until Duggar caught him. Duggar took a second to ensure he didn't see anything moving, and then he looked at his team.
"Alright, let's head back, I'm going to have to write a report about all of this, and I don't know what will happen next, but this is certainly big news," He said as he began flying away again with his team.

"Sir, it seems that one of the Shebadoo has been killed prematurely with their kin as well," a grey-skinned individual was standing on the deck beside the commander of the Rek'Nee fleet they were on.
"Ahh, it seems they are quick to it, this planet might actually be fun. Prepare the people for Phase three," The commander said with a menacing smile.
