After reaching the city, Wayne was shocked to see how vibrant and bustling it was in the nighttime. It was as if the city had never been destroyed but only improved upon. Higby drove into a parking garage to the very top floor and turned off the car.
"Alright, guys, who's hungry?" Higby said as he walked towards the elevators that took them to the bottom floor.
"So we're just going to leave this here?" Arctic asked in a confused tone.
"Ah, don't worry about that, we brought it where it needed to be. Now come on, I'm starving." Higby said, waiting for the others by the elevator.
Everyone got off the truck and headed towards the elevator with Higby. They headed to the bottom floor and began walking.
"So, what are you guys in the mood for?" Higby said as they reached the sidewalk figuring out which direction to go.
"Steak"
"Fish"
"Cake"
"A bar"
"Whatever is good."
Everyone shouted an answer at once, and Higby grew a wry smile.
"Well, out of all those options, cake sure sounds good, but I need some steak," and with that, he started walking in a direction with a purpose. They walked for fifteen minutes and stopped in front of a large yellow and red building with a lit sign outside reading "Motif Protein."
"How do you know if this place is any good?" Wayne asked, looking at the building.
"One of my childhood friends owns this restaurant, and one thing about friends is friends don't serve friends bad food," Higby said while licking his lips and rubbing his stomach.
As soon as they went inside, the host recognized Higby and seated the group immediately. As they were seated, Wayne began looking over the menu, and his eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw the astronomical price for the food.
"Two hundred dollars for a six oz steak?!?!" Wayne didn't even feel hungry anymore, not after looking at the prices.
"Don't worry, young man, you're not paying, so just order what you would like."
"Anything?" Celeste asked as she was also hesitant to order anything.
"Of course! I would say you guys earned that right," Higby said with a light smile.
"Haha, you don't have to tell me twice!" Arctic said as he scanned the whole menu.
Wayne also scanned the whole menu and chose his heart's desire.
After two hours in the restaurant, everybody left satisfied with their stomachs full.
"Alright guys, the mission has been fun, but this is where we separate," Higby said, pulling out five ombre-colored bracelets they started solid black on top and gradually got whiter towards the bottom.
"This is your payment for the mission, the money should all be on these bracelets, just try not to spend it all in one day," Higby said with a chuckle as he handed each of them one.
Everybody took the bracelets and looked at them like priceless jewels.
"Well, what's the first thing you guys are going to do with this money?" Arctic asked as he stared at the bracelet with glee.
"I will probably start a surveillance company or something," Radio said with a shrug of the shoulders.
"I'll live in isolation," Grim said in a monotone voice.
"That's none of your business," Celeste chided.
Arctic didn't pay her attitude too much attention as he was in a great mood, he just looked past her and onto Wayne.
"Well, I will probably just get a hotel for right now and explore the city, what about you? What do you plan on doing?"
"Well, with eight hundred million dollars, I don't have to work ever again, I can live in luxury till the end of my days!" Arctic answered.
With that, everybody began to disperse. Wayne decided to look for a nearby tech store and eventually ran into one about ten minutes later.
"Hello, may I help you?" A man said behind the counter as Wayne walked in.
"Yeah, I just need a phone at the moment."
"Ohh, well, if you look over here, we have a selection to choose from, but I would recommend this one since it's the latest model and has the durability of an ox," the man said as he walked over to a wall of phones and pointed at the selection.
"Two thousand dollars!?" Wayne thought, he knew he had more than enough, but he never knew it would be like this. He ultimately decided to just get the phone since he had no time to research anything, and he then programmed Zeaks' number in it immediately. After that was settled, he pulled out the card Duggar gave him and decided to give him a call while he walked around looking for a hotel.
"Hello?" Duggar said as he picked up.
"Hey, Duggar, this is NightFall."
"Ohh! Whats up, man, how've you been, how can I help you?"
"Well, I'm in the city, and I was wondering if we could chat in person," Wayne said as he finally found a nice-looking hotel and headed inside.
"Chat? is this about the spot?"
"Possibly."
"Oh, okay, well, I'll set something up. What phone do you have? Never mind, it gives the option to send it."
As he said that, Wayne received an invitation to a time and place to meet.
"Ohh, sweet, I got it."
"Good, I'll see you tomorrow, I got some things to prepare." and with that, Duggar hung up the phone. Wayne just put the phone in his pocket and began admiring the lobby as everything was marble.
"Hello, welcome to Saints Retreat, where everything is heavenly. What can I do for you?" a woman behind the desk asked as Wayne walked up.
"Hi, I'm trying to get a room for a week."
"What kind of room would you like?"
"Whatever bed is the most comfortable."
"Ahh, yes, you'll be taking our Ava suite if you can put your wrist right here, and we can get that confirmed," The lady said with a smile.
"Ohh..." Wayne looked dazed when he saw the price.
"What can five million get me?" Wayne asked as that's the price he agreed with himself to pay.
"Okay, let me see." The woman click-clack her way on the computer for a few moments.
"I have a room on the sixth floor that should be available."
Wayne was fine with that, so he put his wrist on the tablet and got his room key transferred to his phone.
Wayne took the elevator and looked at the phone to see some of the features.
The elevator stopped, and he got off and began looking for his room
"626 shouldn't be hard to find," and as he said that, he found it on his left. When he put the phone to the door, mechanical whirring began, and the door opened up.
When Wayne went inside, he was surprised at how big the room was, it was the size of an average house.
Wayne immediately plopped on the bed to see how comfy it was, and when he lay there, he began breathing deeply, the bed was so soft it felt like it was giving him a massage. Wayne lay there excited for tomorrow's test, but within thirty seconds of thought, he fell asleep from exhaustion.
