Chapter 25 - The Cargo (Part 4)

"Whoa, bro, what the fuck are you doing?"

"Have you lost your mind?"

"Oh, Heavens!"

Everyone was shocked and speaking simultaneously as Wayne pointed the gun at Rose without explanation. Some were even ready to attack.

"WAIT!" Celeste yelled, hopping off the truck and going to Wayne's defense, and she continued.

"Let's just see what he has to say," Celeste then gestured to Wayne to hurry and speak.

"Well, I'm sure you guys haven't noticed, but it seems like we're going on a loop with the attacks, and this one is the cause."

"A loop? You sound crazy!" Rose pointed to Wayne while laughing.

Everybody still wasn't convinced and did the only thing he could think, "Alright, since you want to hide, I'll just make you go to sleep again," Wayne said inwardly as he got mentally prepared.

Wayne looked at Rose and laughed, even putting the gun away. Everyone had a confused look and thought Wayne was a mad man, but then he startled everyone when he lept towards Rose the next second clutching her face with one hand and simultaneously activating his skill.

[Abyssal Nightmare]

When Rose succumbed to Wayne's skill, her long red hair turned white, and she grew shorter. Everyone watched with wide eyes wondering what was happening. Rose had turned into someone completely different, having everyone on guard.

After three seconds, the woman shot up with disheveled hair and worry on her face as if she had seen death grace her.

"Well, what do you have to say?" Wayne said, kneeling beside her, at the ready to activate his ability again if she made any threatening moves.

She turned to look at her hands, and she quickly comprehended her situation. She couldn't think of a good lie, so she decided to stall for time, hoping that would be good enough.

Before she could even answer, a loud voice resounded over the situation.

"Who the fuck are you?! Are you telling me that Rose wasn't a real person?" Arctic chided as he was annoyed because he had been fantasizing over Rose and had planned to ask her out after the mission, but now that he thought she was a fake, he was crushed.

"I-I, I'm Lucid," She said as she was thinking about how to get out of this.

"So Lucid, what do you say you get us out of this, and we'll take it easy on you," Grim said as a human skeleton appeared out of the ground next to him with a sword and shield.

Lucid kept her mouth shut as her skill only had five more hours, and she knew she needed to keep them in there for the whole time, as on the outside, a different situation was going on. She was used to pain, so she was sure she could handle whatever they threw at her.

"Looks like she wants it the hard way," Arctic said as an ice spike formed in his hand, throwing it towards her hitting her shoulder and making her skid across the floor a few feet away.

Everyone looked at Arctic as if he was too hasty to attack, but he just shrugged off their looks and spoke.

"She is the reason we are in this, and I'm sure if we kill her, it'll release her abilities."

"He might be right," Celeste said, looking at the situation.

After her words, Arctic didn't hesitate and threw another ice spike at her head, killing her on the spot. But when they looked around, they saw nothing had changed, and Arctic worried for a second, thinking he had killed their only way out of this.

Wayne was disappointed to see Lucid just lay on the floor unmoving, so he went to the body to inspect if she had any items on her, but when he walked up to her, he was shocked and grew a wry smile, instantly yelling out.

"She's alive! She's faking! Come over here and look."

Lucid instantly opened her eyes and gave Wayne a glaring look "I'm the only one that can give the command for us to get out of here, and there's nothing you can do about it."

She gave a taunting grin to everyone. All she needed to do was hold out for her team to finish what they were doing.

When she finished her statement, arms grabbed her from underneath and drug her beneath the earth. After a few seconds, she was spat back out with pieces of her body missing, but as she laid there, her body healed right in front of their eyes.

"We're going to have to make her submit," Celeste said with a serious look.

Then for the next thirty minutes, everyone took turns torturing her, leaving her unable to move or react to what was coming at her, but every single time she would come back unscathed with a smug smile on her face.

"This is getting us nowhere!" Arctic complained as if he was bored of the situation already.

Even Wayne stood there frustrated as he used [Dark Flame] to burn her body to nothing, and she still came back. At this point, Lucid sat on the floor with a straight face as if all the pain she felt didn't faze her.

"Aw! Are you guys tired already? Why don't we be good boys and girls and just sit here and wait." Lucid said in a playful tone, but this frustrated everyone more as they were at a loss of what to do.

Wayne pulled back out the gun and casually walked up to Lucid. Lucid didn't flinch as she saw Wayne's action as futile.

"I see you still want to keep trying. Nothing can kill me in my domain," Lucid said as she stood up, gesturing her arms wide to the surroundings.

"That's not the point," Wayne said with a smirk as he pulled the trigger and watched Lucid drop to the floor like a bag of sand.

Lucid's eyes were wide as this pain was different. When the others would kill her, she always knew there was an end, and she just needed to have strong willpower and hold out.

As she wreathed on the floor, Wayne continued to shoot her for the five-minute switch, no breaks, thinking this might be able to break her. He could see her eyes dwindling from the pain.

"So, how do we get out of this?" Wayne asked as he paused a moment to get an answer from Lucid. She was gasping for air when he asked, and after two seconds, he continued shooting.

"Too late"

Everyone was looking at him with winced faces wondering what gun Wayne was using and how they would ask him later so they could get one themselves.

After another five minutes, Wayne paused again, and before he could ask his question, Lucid cried out.

"RELEASE!"

As she said those words, her body disappeared, and the surroundings faded to black. The next moment, Wayne could hear a woman yelling not too far from him.

"What's the fucking codes for the truck, old man!?"

Before he could answer, she hit him across the face as she continued.

"I don't have time for your games!"
