Ryan carefully landed on top of a building after spending his night flying and gathering information. He would have continued but the sun was about to rise in an hour. The building coincidentally belonged to his father who owns a guild known as Night owl.
"How the hell did they manage to find such weird names? Just call it Miller guild. So embarrassing." Ryan was acting like a hypocrite after giving his attack a name which belonged to an anime character.
"Fucking simp! Want me to bring you a mirror?" Umbra was ruthless like always.
"Hey you are supposed to be my supporter, not my mortal enemy." Ryan found himself at loss while talking with Umbra, who somehow was too good at roasting.
"Now! Now! We were so invested in arguing that we didn't greet our little friend who is sneaking in my shadow." Ryan said in a calm tone.
Getting the hint, a blonde woman stepped out of Ryan's shadow. She didn't look like a loli anymore and looked like someone who was in her mid 20s.
"Kirkwood, I think you were supposed to protect my family." Ryan said in a manner that held no malice.
"Your father and sister were capable enough to protect themselves and your mother. My intervention was not necessary." She said in a nonchalant voice.
"Then why did you convince him to risk his life? Do you really think I would not notice that you used your charm skill to change his mind?" Ryan's body started releasing a dark aura as he turned around, his pupils turned into fine slits and eyes glowed silver.
"Mika Kirkwood, I don't care if you are my friend's servant. You have made a grave mistake." Ryan disappeared from his position and appeared before Mika only to grab her by her throat.
"I understand why you wanted my father to go there but you tried to control him and that is not acceptable." His grip tightened as Mika started to feel immense pain.
Vampires were beings who were one of the most prominent supernatural species. Creatures blessed by the night. Even normal Vampires had regeneration abilities more powerful than elite dragons but they were easily wounded so they had to develop tolerance to pain.
Mika being a vampire count was naturally tolerant to most kinds of pain but the creature who was about to crush her throat was someone with the bloodline of a dragon god.
A being who can create his own unique dragon civilization if he wanted.
Suddenly Mika started screaming as Ryan crushed her neck into a pulp as her body fell down while blood splattered around Ryan.
"It should start now." Ryan counted to three and Mika's body started regenerating. This was a speciality of vampire counts, they cannot die even if you crush their head.
"Why?" Mika's saddened voice reached his ears as he crouched down to meet her half opened eyes.
"You overstepped your boundaries." Ryan said in an apathetic tone as a smile bloomed on his face.
"Just that?" Mika's body shuddered when she saw his crazy smile. Inside his mouth she could see red flames ready to burn her to death.
"I'll forgive you this time but I still can't let you roam around freely." Ryan said and a fist size magic circle appeared in his hand.
The magic circle looked small but it was not its power that was scary but it still horrified Mika who liked to be free.
The magic circle covered Ryan's fist as he struck her chest with his fist. The magic circle quickly imprinted itself on her body.
"Don't worry, I am not taking away your freedom. Just stay away from my family." Ryan said with a friendly smile.
"If you want you can still kill me, but that won't be something you could do alone. So my tip is that you bring a whole army of vampires to fight me. That would be more interesting." He started laughing like he made the most funny joke.
"NOW SCRAM!" He said with rage bursting out of his body.
Mika didn't delay and left before Ryan changed his mind.
She quickly went to a nearby shadow of a building. She sighed in relief and took out a bottle of blood. She quickly drew a magic circle with it and muttered a few words.
[Blood Projection]
The magic circle started glowing and a projection of a dark throne room came to life. She looked towards the throne and bowed before her queen.
"Did you find him?" An impatient feminine voice came through the projection.
"Yes, my lady." She said while huffing in exhaustion. The magic circle completely drained her mana, making her really vulnerable.
"Is he fine?" The vampire queen asked in a slightly delighted tone.
"My lady, he has grown too strong in this short span of time." She said while her head was lowered. Her legs were still shaking as she remembered that expression. How can she not recognise that expression, it was an expression of hate she was very familiar with.
"I want to talk to him!" The vampire queen had grown really impatient and could not wait any longer.
"I don't think that's possible for now." Mika said with a tinge of fear in her voice.
"You are hiding something." The vampire queen could easily tell that she was hiding something big.
"He has changed." She said as she bit her lip so hard that blood started dripping, only to heal a moment later.
"What do you mean by changed? Explain yourself." The queen's eyes glowed blood red as mika felt her organs rupturing.
It was the authority, an authority only the ruler of all vampires holds.
"He almost killed me." Mika said while gripping her neck which was still hurting somehow.
"What did you do?" The queen leaned forward and her luscious red lips were revealed by the moonlight. The perfect word to describe them was "Seductive"
"I used mind control to manipulate his dad but Amaya, believe me, I just wanted him to gain power. It was supposed to be something that Ryan appreciated but he-" She stopped midway and lightly punched the floor.
"Big sister, you shouldn't have done that." The queen leaned back on her throne.
"Amaya, I'll try to fix my mistake." She said and the projection lost its power.
"Easier said than done." Last words were heard from the location of the disappeared projection.
On the other hand, Ryan was back in his room. He was setting up the Phone which was brought to his room by Dawn.
"Hmm…..so these social media apps are still running. Oh, one of them was bought by a man named Musk, before the cataclysm." Ryan knew about this man, apparently Musk was a billionaire who smoked on a live podcast.
He was scrolling through the news section and he noticed an article about Elijah. It was titled "Speculated S ranker."
The article also had a video of Elijah Saving people from a collapsing building. Elijah, although a bit fickle mouthed, was still known to be very kind hearted.
"When everyone was fulfilling their duties, we were holed up in a burrow." Ryan said with self disappointment.
"Shut the fuck up! Don't ruin my day with your pathetic ramblings." Umbra was in the form of a black cat with a crescent mark on her forehead.
"Umbra, I think you are forgetting that you still have that drunk problem." Ryan looked back with a vicious grin.
"Fine, I won't think about bygones." He stood up from the fluffy bed and started walking towards the door.
"Hey wait for me!" Umbra quickly jumped on his shoulder.
"Umbra, if you stay out, they will make you wear a Hawaiian dancer costume and they will even upload it on social media." Umbra quickly returned to his mind space, clearly hating the word costume.
Ryan laughed out loud before leaving his room. After bickering with Umbra on his way, he reached the kitchen where Dawn was up before dawn.
Dawn was completely oblivious and was preparing stuff for breakfast. She was singing a song which Ryan heard a long time ago. It was a song that he enjoyed a lot. It was from a singer named Bruno Mars.
"Jump in the Cadillac,(Girl, let's put some miles on it). Anything you want, (Just to put a smile on it). You deserve it baby, you deserve it all. And I'm gonna give it to you," She sang with a voice full of passion.
Ryan was about to cheer on her but refrained from it because she might get startled. After all, when a person is trying to sing alone they should not be disturbed.
"Gold jewellery shining so bright
Strawberry champagne on ice
Lucky for you, that's what I like, that's what I like" She took a cooking utensil in her hand and started assuming it was a mic.
As if it was not enough, she even started to dance to the song.
"Sex by the fire at night. Silk sheets and diamonds are all white. Lucky for you that's what I like." She was replicating the classic vibe perfectly.
"My god! She's adorable." Umbra exclaimed as her head in cat form came out of Ryan's chest.
'Well, she's quite a character. Just get some crowd and this can easily be a concert.' Ryan was half amused and half impressed by her performance.
"I know you like concerts, I remember that once you sneaked out to watch a concert of a very famous performer." Umbra acted like she was stressing on her mind to find that particular memory.
"I think it was Shakira...Oh, now I remember. It was Beyonce." Umbra pointed a smug expression towards Ryan.
"Listen, at that time I was discovering things, Beyonce is a phase many go through." Ryan tried to justify his actions.
Ryan chose to give Dawn some privacy and let her do what she was trying to do. He went back to his room and scrolled through the internet for 2 hours.
After glueing his eyes to the screen he learnt quite a few things which would be useful for him in the future. One of the interesting things he saw was the walkthrough of the registration exam.
He wondered why people made such a big fuss about such things. He didn't linger around and went inside the bathroom to take a nice and cold shower.
He then left the room after wearing a pair of white pants and a black shirt.
Ryan entered the living room and saw his dad and sister having their breakfast. He sat beside his sister who still had the habit of eating like a hamsterWell...he was not complaining.
"You ready?" Rebecca asked after swallowing the food. She had breadcrumbs on her cheeks which Ryan wiped with his handkerchief.
"Ryan, will you please deliver a package to Rachel for me?" Emma asked as she served Ryan his food.
"Hmm….Sure." Ryan didn't bother asking what was inside it. He stored it inside his mind space.
Ryan then took out the pearl bracelet and gave it to Dawn who reluctantly accepted it. After discussing a few things with John, Ryan and Rebecca left for their destination.
They passed through many mansions which belonged to many government officials and a few S rank guardians. Guardian was a term given to people who awakened powers. Rebecca and John were S ranks, Rebecca ranked 5th among the national ranking and John was firmly holding the 4th rank. Although Rebecca was physically more powerful than John, one cannot ignore the years of experience in fighting.
America had a total of fifteen S ranked guardians, followed by hundred and fifty A ranks. The numbers kept increasing with each lower rank. Current number one awakened, Arnold Bridgestone has almost achieved the miraculous Ex rank and is speculated to have a breakthrough in 6 months.
Ryan reached the examination hall which is also the association building. The association was funded directly by the government. Guardians who joined the association were given a lofty signing amount and a fairly decent contract.
Ryan stepped out of the car and looked around with a calm expression. Rebecca asked in a teasing tone "Big brother, are you nervous?"
"Not really, but this place is interesting. They have numerous magic circles protecting the building. They must have spent a lot of money for the resources to keep these spells active.
