While Umbra was waiting for a chance to harm them, Ryan was explaining the situation to Olivia and his friend.
"So you are saying this whole gaining power from drop materials was just a distraction and we were just helping out enemies?" She said in a sharp tone.
"No, there was no way you could know that. They framed these portals in a way that resembled games and novels. We humans believe what we want to believe." Ryan said as he used healing magic on both of them.
"They even had minions inside our civilization." Elijah said with a pondering expression.
"They turned humans into minions by luring them with certain tricks." Ryan said with a deep frown.
"I'll explain later. For now we need to fight and survive." Ryan said as he picked both of them and flew away.
"Why are we going to the next floor?" Olivia asked with her same calm attitude.
"We still need to kill the boss." Ryan said as he stopped before the 2nd floor gate.
"Won't that cause this portal to break?" Elijah asked.
"Yes but don't worry I won't let anyone get hurt." Ryan summoned Umbra and made multiple slashes at the door.
"Don't rely on your memory, think of this like a new labyrinth. One you never cleared." Ryan rushed forward followed by Elijah and Olivia.
"Don't use your eyes, supply mana in your skin and let it lead you." Ryan ordered.
"Elijah dodge!" Ryan said as he saw a tarantula bigger than the previous ones creep up behind Elijah.
Elijah quickly moved and side kicked the spider before it could bare his fangs. He immediately moved forward and smashed its head.
"This will be hard." Ryan said as black scales started running up his body and covered almost all of his body.
"Both of you keep attacking and leave the defence to me." Ryan darted off to the tarantulas which kept on appearing no matter how many you killed.
"Bullet Barrage" Ryan said as countless [BOA] appeared and moved to take shots simultaneously.
The popping sound resounded throughout the place as Ryan kept on using his attack which put the least burden on him.
"Fuck these restrictions." He screamed as Umbra turned into a spear and Ryan threw her towards the seemingly endless army of spiders.
The golden-black spear made a deafening impact with the ground and released a black flame which covered the spiders.
"Grip of time." Ryan said as his eyes turned draconic and the black fire entered their bodies.
"Die." Their bodies turned and twisted until they were turned into nothing.
"Ryan, are you okay?" Umbra came back and floated beside Ryan.
"Yup, just these flames are really shit." Ryan cursed.
"You should not use it, you don't have enough divine power to support it." Umbra was fidgeting in worry.
"We will rest for 5 minutes." Ryan said as he started thinking about the situation.
"How about we break the entire place and go directly to the boss room?" Ryan transmitted to Umbra.
"And how do you plan to do that?" Umbra asked in a serious tone.
"Hey, with each floor door, do we go down or up?" Ryan asked Olivia.
"This one goes straight." Olivia said while pointing towards the door ahead.
"We can avoid the army if we move underground." Elijah said.
"That won't work, these bastards have nests below ground." Olivia said, shaking her head in denial.
"Then we only have one choice." Ryan looked at them, his face had a disgustingly huge grin.
"We will charge like a bull. We only need to go straight. Then why bother with planning?" Ryan closed the distance Between them in an instant.
"And when it comes to speed, even the fastest aircraft would not be able to keep up with me." Ryan said as two giant draconic wings erupted from his back.
"Don't scream." Ryan picked Baros siblings and streaked through the floor as Umbra slashed the door before them.
Clang
An army of spiders welcomed them with streaks of poison. Their poison hit Ryan's left wing but the poison spit immediately fell down from his wing like water falling off from a raincoat.
"This is fucking cool." Elijah was given his own pair of fire wings while Olivia was carried like a sack of potatoes.
"I really missed my wings." Elijah blurted out.
"What do you mean Elijah?" Olivia picked it up real quick but before he could get in more trouble Ryan sped up.
"They are chasing us." Umbra transmitted through their mind link.
"Let them do what they want, I'll burn them all at once." Ryan replied with a slight smile.
"Ahhh….. piece of shit." A streak of poison hit Elijah's armour.
"That was expensive, Ryan I want their cores." Elijah was itching to kill them but if he went down, not even his bones would be left undigested.
"I will give you something better than cores after we return." Ryan said as he dodged a spike attack from the spiders.
"The gate." Olivia pointed out with her finger.
"Umbra." Ryan shouted and a moment later a sword flew forward with a clang sound.
The doors seemed to be more reinforced as they went further inside the labyrinth.
"They stopped following us." Olivia looked back and saw the spiders disappearing, almost like they were not allowed to enter this floor.
"This is meaningless, this many spiders on every floor, how the fuck did you guys survive?" Ryan was confused because they did not have unlimited stamina to keep moving forward without stopping.
"Like I said, they increased in number every time we cleared it." Olivia felt her body slipping.
"I am about to fall." She said as she gripped Ryan, almost ripping his clothes in the process.
"Hey, don't rip them, people will really call me an exibitionist." Ryan almost dropped her.
"Drop me and I'll haunt you till death." Olivia said with a deadpan expression.
This minute bickering kept going until they reached the 19th floor.
"I have to say that was really amazing." Elijah said as he was finally standing on the ground.
"This is the boss room." Olivia said as he unsheathed her sword.
"I don't like spiders." Elijah said as the door was kicked open by Ryan.
"Or maybe not." Elijah gulped down after he saw the 'boss' room.
"Now, don't forget why we are here." Ryan smacked the back of his head.
"It hurts." Elijah started to scream in non-existent pain.
"Let's finish this, we have more things to do." Ryan moved forward while Umbra kept floating beside him in her twin-headed spear form.
"I assume that getting any information from you is not possible. How would you like to die? Fire? Wind? Or simple cold metal?" Ryan really liked to provoke his enemies.
His intention is not to disrespect them but to enrage them so that they make mistakes. Mistakes that can be exploited.
The boss room had statues depicting many questionable female Arachnes, Arachnes are pretty much half-spider and half-human.
Elijah was staring around the room with half flushed cheeks. As far as Ryan could remember, Elijah was an extremely lustful guy but at the same time he had the morals of a saint. He would never do anything that is not morally acceptable.
He is so much of a saint that he never asked a woman out for a date.
Huh? Did you say something?
What do you mean he's a p#$$¥? He's just love-shy.
Anyways, Elijah slapped his cheeks with both of his hands to bring his distracted mind on track.
"Puny distractions cannot bug me." His eyes turned sharp as he looked straight at the throne which was above a pedestal at the far end of the room.
"Lord have mercy." Elijah was dazed again.
"Elijah!" Olivia's furious voice reached his ears which gave him an immediate sense of danger.
"Hahaahha." A sweet and seductive laugh resounded throughout the boss room.
"You guys are funny." The woman sitting on her throne which had a spider inspired theme.
The woman had extremely pale skin which would have looked sickly if not for the light glow permeating from her skin. She had complete black eyes which had a powerful shine in them.
"Ugly bitch." Olivia mocked the woman sitting on the throne.
"I like this thief." Umbra said with a mind equivalent of thumbs up.
"I don't like to ask the same question twice." Ryan's voice was extremely cold as he didn't seem a bit bothered by the beautiful woman.
"Was that supposed to be a question? I thought you were just joking." The woman leaned forward, revealing a deep cleavage.
"Umbra." A bone chilling voice came out of Ryan's mouth as Umbra disappeared from Ryan's side.
"A friend of mine always said that a person with a weak mind can never win a fight." Ryan said as blue flames erupted out and surrounded him.
The woman sitting on the throne felt sudden danger approaching her so she quickly jumped out of the throne.
BOOOOOOOM
A three metre long spear struck the throne and released attacks of multiple elements. Her eyes went wide when they didn't stop erupting and continued to destroy the very existence of her precious throne.
"Bastard." She screamed, her voice didn't seem seductive anymore, instead it sounded almost cracked.
"Wtf is wrong with her?" Elijah was confused because the woman just jumped out and started screaming while looking at her throne.
Which was in perfect condition.
Ryan was successful in enraging her. A woman on her throne. Why would she not be proud of it?
"And now." Umbra started laughing when she appeared from the woman's side and managed to land a surprise attack.
The woman turned her head and saw a sharp edge of a sword approaching her head but it was too late to dodge. She quickly twisted her body to move her head away from the trajectory of the seemingly unstoppable blade.
Slash
Black blood gushed out of her arms which were severed by Umbra. She bit into the blade to stop it from moving. Her hands started to heal at a visible speed. A vicious grin appeared on her face as her hands were now back to normal.
It was a moment of happiness for the beautiful lady because a second later the sword turned into a man.
"Peek-a-boo bitch!" Ryan said as he punched the woman with his left hand.
She flew away and crashed into the wall far away from Ryan. Ryan looked at his sleeve and saw his clothes were torn.
"Tsk." He was annoyed.
The woman came out of the debris of the wall which had an imprint of a person crashing to it.
The woman was unscathed, the impact did almost negligible damage to her. She had a strangely beautiful smile on her face as she moved forward towards Ryan but right at that moment her head was struck by a bolder.
"I don't like your smile." She said after hitting the woman with a boulder which was lying beside her.
The boulder didn't pose any threat to her so she just ignored it, or that's what they thought. The woman with purple hair lifted her left hand and started chanting in some weird language.
The Arachne's statues started moving until the rock-like layer on them started cracking and falling off. Beneath that rock-like layer were real Arachnes.
"Kill both of them, I don't want nuisances in my lair." The woman said with a weird smile on her face.
"Sorry for not introducing myself before, I am Arachne, queen of all spiders." She licked her lip in a highly questionable manner.
'Umbra, which month is this?' He asked in a half panicked tone.
"Mid December, why did you ask about it now?" Umbra replied in confusion.
'The place is connected to our world and replicates the seasonal cycle.' Ryan thought with a blank expression on his face.
"Selene would have killed this bitch if she was here. Now do you want to become a father to thousands or kill her?" Umbra finally caught on to what Ryan was thinking and she couldn't be more annoyed.
"Nah, she should just die." Ryan grabbed Umbra, who was in her sword form and slashed at Arachne who didn't even flinch from the attack and just blocked it with her hands which now resemble sharp claws.
A few metres away, Olivia and Elijah were working as a team and were successful in defeating one of the half-spider monsters.
"Elijah, are you sure he's okay?" Olivia asked as she dodged one of the sharp blade-like pedipalps of the spider monster.
Pedipalps are sort of like hands in spiders but for these hybrids these worked like sharp blades.
The half spider screeched and thrust the spear on her hand towards Elijah's chest.
"F#ck, I hate spiders." Elijah repeated his previous words.
