Scarlett felt herself dying a little inside from sheer embarrassment. To get caught kissing, even if it was her mate… They weren’t doing a very good job at hiding the nature of their relationship!
At least it was Greta. The older woman seemed to have a good head on her shoulders and to care about Rowan, seeing as she had gone along with his blatant lie about them being related.
Still, they needed to be careful. As much as it upset her, Rowan wasn’t wrong that their relationship had to be kept a secret.
He was the crown prince, and she wasn’t exactly some princess from another kingdom. She doubted the king would find their relationship politically acceptable, let alone support them going public. Besides, the last thing she needed as a red wolf was the king’s attention.
So, while she didn’t like the fact that their relationship needed to be hidden, she at least understood and could live with it. It still sucked, though.
