Looking at Jake's skeptical expression, Ray lifted his right hand and made a holding something gesture. A moment after, a book titled "The Book of Origin" formed on his grip.
"This book was a basic guide for a beginner Magian, just like you. After this, you should have one, understood?"
"Yeah, I will," replied Jake.
After putting the book on the coffee table, Ray drew a big circle on the air using his spiritual energy with red vermillion in color, then draw another smaller circle inside the big one. He kept drawing until there were nine outlines of circle shapes, just like a target board.
"This is a Somnia. It is divided into nine-level from the center, 1...2...3...." While explaining, Ray wrote numbers from 1 into each section that bordered by two circles, until the last circle. "...nine. These numbers refer to the level of each region that Phobeon occupied. Level one filled by the weakest Phobeons, the higher the level, the stronger the rank of Phobeons."
"Phobeons have their ranks?"
Ray Winfield grinned after hearing his son's dissatisfaction. "What? Are you afraid of encountering high-ranked Phobeon?"
Jake shrugged off, "whose not? The first time I met them, they pounded me to die!"
Ray Windfield laughed, after failing to hold his laughter.
"However, when I'm getting stronger and succeed in grasping my true power, It would be my turn to crush them!" Muttering in a serious tone, Jake's eyes lit up as they filled with ambitions.
"Good spirit! Worthily to be my son after all!" Ray gave him a thumbs up. "Nevertheless, the most important is how did you get in here?" Swift back to his composure, Ray drew an X sign on the number 5 written on the circle sections. "This is the section we are in right now." He added.
"If my speculation is right, that means you have an Irregular brain because it would be for a youngster like you to reach level 5 Somnia in a day since you awoke your Psychomagic. And the Irregular brain was quite different from special brain, it gives the owner an ability to enter other's Somnia!"
Hearing Ray's explanation, Jake was dumbfounded, then he imagined as if his ultimate nightmare came true. Of course, it was about if somebody would find out his identity as Lee Changmin. That would be fucked up for him.
"Did something bother you?" Ray's voice sounded, pulling Jake back from his thought.
"No...nothing." He answered stuttering.
"Okay. As I said before, The Irregular brain gives the ability to enter someone's Somnia, but it was not just trespassing. Inside the Somnia, The Dreamwalker–that's what we called the person who has that ability, can do several things such as reading memory, analyzing behavior, digging some secret, and also implanting fake memories if The Dreamwalker had a Psychomagic related to mind manipulation."
Jake shuddered in horror as his face turned pale. He kept getting nervous while realizing that there was the ability that might be able to uncover his true identity.
"Don't be afraid, there are not many Dreamwalker around the world. In the Roenith Kingdom alone, there are under two hundred, where 72 of them are in Arcadia Province, and several of them are in our city, Kyros, including me. This is a classified file, so you better keep it for yourself."
'Fuck me! This is not going well, my path would be a lot of struggles!' Jake cursed inwardly. Didn't have any other option but to swallow his disappointment, Jake sighed. "The way you talked about it, you made it sound like a secret information of the Imperial, and I'm impressed."
"This stupid son! It wasn't a joke, and you guessed it right... I'm actually a secret agent of the Imperial."
Jake raised his eyebrows but quickly frowned. "Impossible, right?! I'm not dumb, as I remembered mother once said...." Jake stopped as several thoughts surged inside his mind.
"Yeah, that was my undercover job, even I speculates your mother still believed that I was working as an employee."
"I can confirm that. But, if what you said was true, then it explained my suspicions...." Jake muttered to himself.
"What suspicions?! Did someone follow you or stalk you?" Hearing Jake's muttering, Ray's face became grave.
"No, it was not me, but... you, fifteen years ago," said Jake stopping in the middle while looking concerned.
The silence filled the air for a moment until Ray rested himself against the sofa backrest. He was understood what Jake was trying to say, he guessed it.
"I know, son, I already know... you don't have to say it." Drawing a warm smile on his face, Ray spoke calmly.
Snapping his fingers, Ray turned the room into the darkness with the couches, the coffee table, and the vase that glowing neon like a lamp remained.
"Listen carefully, Jake. This is the reason why... I'm gone. At that time, I was on duty to protect a baby, she was from the Imperial family. But, because of a certain reason, her life was in danger, and securing her life was my mission. Given the fact that I'm gone, most likely, I failed the mission."
"According to the report, as far as I remembered there were indeed two bodies inside the car," said Jake hesitating for a moment.
Ray's whole body trembled, after hearing Jake's confirmation. He, for the first time in his life, failed a mission, and it cost his beautiful life as a husband, as a father, as a young master of a second-grade family.
Ray looked down as he facepalmed to cover his teary eyes. Even just a consciousness, he could feel and think like an actual person. Even though killing was part of his job, Ray Windfield was still a vulnerable human.
Seeing his father, Jake could feel the vague sorrow radiating from his father, made him show empathy as Jake remembered that it might be the first and last time he meet his father.
However, Jake struggled so hard not to show it, tried to battle the surged emotion within. If this was his last chance to see his father, at least, he left a good impression that Ray Windfield's son was a strong man, hoping Ray would feel rest assured leaving him.
After a few minutes, Ray regained his composure. He straighten his back and asked, "So, what about your Psychomagic? Did you awaken the inherited power, divine lightning of Windfield bloodline?"
"Divine lightning? That sounds cool, not gonna lie." Jake's mood lightened hearing the power of the Windfield Family.
"If you saying that, I guess it means no. Okay, tell me about your power then," urged Ray.
"Truthfully, I didn't know yet. As I said, I had awoken my power last night, not much time to comprehend, let alone train using it. But, from what I learn so far, I guess my power is related to augmentation."
"That sounds great. I could see it no less powerful than the Windfield's divine lightning. I believed you will grasp the true potential of your innate Psychomagic. You are a good observant, know how to make decisions within seconds, and always try to keep a cool head in a crisis. What I wanna say is that I'm proud of you, my son."
Hearing such praises from his father, Jake's eyes lit up with pride, wearing a smile on his lips.
"And-oh, I almost forgot. The reason why Ray Windfield placed his consciousness inside your Somnia was that he wanted to protect you. This room...," Ray snapped his finger and the darkness turned again into the living room, "...was an external Somnia he created to leave you an important message. You can see that classic music box?" Ray pointed his index finger toward an old box on the small cabinet near the window.
Jake look over where the music box was placed and nodded.
"I strongly advise you not to open it now, not until you strong enough to carry the burden of information you will get. Yes, you could say that it was indeed a classified file related to my death."
"Okay, I promise. I will open it at the right time. But, do you have to go? Can you remain as a consciousness here just like this? I need to learn many things, and you would be a perfect mentor for me." Jake replied, his lips were trembling a little.
"No, I can't. I'm just a tiny part of my greater consciousness, I can't keep lingering around in your Somnia. When you got inside, you made a crack, and this world was slowly consumed by your Somnia from the outside. However, this living room would remain the same cause I built this Somnia on the exact spot of the living room in your Somnia. The one thing that would remain was the sealed music box because you hadn't opened it."
"Okay, I understand." Jake nodded in approval, even though his chest ached a bit. "Before you go, can I see your power?" asked Jake in a low tone, curious about his father's true ability that made him a secret agent.
Ray smiled at his son's curiosity, but maybe that would be all child does, trying to seek attention and to know about their parents more. Ray couldn't blame Jake for doing so.
"Okay. My Psychomagic is the same as yours, an Innate one. I named it The Phantasm; gave me the ability to create a projection of my memory. With this power, I can create a person figure, beast, innate object, and event based on my memory in optic illusion or even in concrete form. Like this young lady...."
As Ray explained, he created a beautiful figure of a young lady with a graceful face with a cold gaze and long red wavy hair, making her look like Eos, The Goddess of the Stars.
"You got a good taste, Dad. I'm impressed." Jake smiled awkwardly as the beautiful figure keep looking at him with a mysterious smile.
"Don't you feel familiar with her?" Ray asked with an odd expression.
Looking at his father's borrowing face, Jake was muddled. Did he suppose to know her? Jake had no answer. "What do you mean?" He asked.
"What the fuck? She is Claire Edevane! Are you sure you have never met her?!"
"Absolutely, never."
"What? She is supposed to be your future mother-in-law since you would be engaged to her daughter–wait, judging by your clueless reaction, it didn't happen?!" Ray exploded, throwing his composure away upon hearing his son's shameless response.
