In one of the hospital rooms, sitting across from Nolan was a man in a white gown. He was Ivan Young, Ruhi's husband and also Nolan's best friend.
"Yes, Shyla came to the hospital. She's pregnant." Nolan's face was gloomy.
It seemed a guy like Nolan was having helpless moments like right now. While he was influential and powerful in the business world, he had some difficulties in his relationships.
His heart was blooming with happiness when he thought he was going to be a father, but his mind was in turmoil when he thought his child's mother was Shyla. He doesn't know what he wants, he doesn't know what to feel.
Ivan Young neglected his friend's gloomy face, as he continued to speak, "I heard Ruhi commenting that you are a jerk."
Nolan didn't care, as he was indeed a jerk when he was involved in Shyla's matters.
"However, Shyla loves you. After so many years, it's time for you to let it go. She's the best candidate for your wife."
Ivan thought that Shyla was the best match for Nolan, so, he tried to persuade Nolan.
Nolan shook his head. There was so much emotional distance between him and Shyla, and they had not interacted much their whole life.
"If I decided to be with Shyla, I would let Ekta down. I've disappointed her once before, so I can't do it again this time."
What about Shyla? "She's been in love with you for so long. Doesn't that mean you've let her down too?"
Nolan pursed his lips and his heart was struggling. He had spent five years of marriage with Shyla, letting her suffer the consequences of falling in love with him. She would regret it now. Falling in love with him was the biggest mistake she made.
"I don't know".
Nolan was indecisive as he suddenly could not bear to let Shyla go.
After running out of the hospital, Shyla hailed a cab to go back home. After entering the cab, she started to remember every word that Nolan said to her. Her heart is in so much pain like many knives are stabbing into her heart directly at a time.
She couldn't breathe properly, so, she started to let her emotions out through the water coming from her eyes.
After reaching the house, she directly went to take a long and refreshing bath so that she could rearrange her thoughts and release the fatigue in her body. After taking two hours of bath, she is in high spirits now. After coming back to her room, she went directly to the wardrobe.
Shyla took out the knitted scarf to admire it. The black scarf should look good on Nolan because of his aloofness. She loved Nolan being cool because he was indifferent to every one. But when he fell in love with someone, he would give all his favors to the person.
She didn't know when to give the scarf to Nolan. She decided to keep it for now and see how it went later.
When Nolan came back, Shyla was sitting calmly in the living room. She was in despair as Nolan was being cruel. He hated her so much that she had a sense of fear. There was no longer passion in her and the determination to save her marriage died down.
Seeing Shyla sitting in the living room, Nolan struggled internally. Shyla's expression was not as enthusiastic as before and she was as calm as a cucumber.
Shyla raised her head and her eyes were swollen from crying too much. In a hoarse voice, she declared, "Nolan, I'll let you go. Let's divorce".
Nolan felt as though he had fallen into a bottomless abyss with a loud thud. The divorce should have been good news for him, yet he was confused to feel so unhappy seeing Shyla shedding tears.
Nolan sat calmly across from Shyla and asked solemnly with a frown, "Divorce? Have you thought it through?"
Nolan didn't love her and Shyla had held on for five years. Although she could hold on longer to their marriage, she gave up when Nolan cruelly decided on a child abortion once he knew of her pregnancy. She couldn't let anything happen to the child.
Moreover, Nolan could stay with Ekta after the divorce. She could wish them well as long as they didn't try to hurt her child.
"Yes, I've made up my mind. Let's divorce. I wish you and Ekta well".
Shyla replied reluctantly and stared at Nolan's handsome face with a lingering look.
"All right."
Nolan said calmly and then left the table.
They slept separately that night. Shyla could not fall asleep, all she could think was Nolan, and Nolan didn't dare to sleep as well, thinking about what Shyla had said during the day. She told him her intention to divorce with a relaxed attitude. Nolan felt depressed as she seemed to be so calm about the decision while she had loved him with all her heart.
Shyla woke up very early the next day as she didn't sleep at night. Looking tired, Shyla simply freshened up to leave and Nolan happened to come out at the same time. They looked at each other. Nolan was staring at her, but Shyla turned her head around indifferently.
After she went downstairs, Nolan thought that she would leave with him, only to notice a car is parked at the gate. Brian got out of the car. Nolan's face suddenly became ugly and his eyes were filled with anger, but he only pursued his lips angrily. He didn't even know that he was feeling so jealous.
"Brian will drop me off and you can follow his car," Shyla said coldly.
Brian glanced at Nolan and chuckled. "Nolan, long time no see. You're still the same."
There was no way for Nolan to remain silent.
Before Shyla could enter Brian's car, Nolan grabbed her hand tightly and said, "Don't meddle with my wife's business!"
