After being informed that they needed to form groups for the in field experience, Milo and Zach immediately made eye contact.
"You don't have to pick me, I know without being able to use my ability I'll be useless," Zach said.
"Nonsense, you're one of my best friends, of course this is something I'd rather have you by my side for. Ability isn't everything, and based on what I see in combat training you're anything but useless," responded Milo.
Zach, just like Milo, used an uncommon weapon in combat training. The weapon Zach wielded was a sort of combination between a sword and shield. It had two straps that were attached to the forearm, the shield part was approximately 18 inches wide at its widest point and on the end closest to the hand a blade protruded out of the shield, making it appear to have the shape of a teardrop. The blade extended out around 20 inches before coming to a sharp point with a sharp edge on each side of the blade that ran until it widened out into the shield, making it good at both slashing and stabbing.
After Zach joined his team of four, that left two more members he needed to find. After considering who else would be a good fit, Milo was considering both Luke and Chloe. The only question would be how to convince them.
When getting up to go and look for the other members he had in mind, he was caught off guard by the association president, Richard Brand, "Hello, I love to meet all the up and coming gatecrashers here at the academy," the friendly tone was surprising to Milo, as he expected someone of his status to be more uptight.
"If you wouldn't mind, could you let me in on what your abilities are? I'm a bit of a connoisseur of abilities you see, and I love to see if any students use any particularly interesting or strong ones," Mr. Brand continued.
Zach and Milo went on to explain their abilities, and hearing what their abilities were, Richard Brand's eyes lit up like sparklers. "Oh, those are indeed strong, Frost can be extremely powerful due to how flexibly it can be used, I really like your ability as well Zach, it seems quite interesting, it's a shame that it can't be used to its fullest yet, but maybe you can use it when you go on your field experience," Richard said with a wink.
After talking a bit more, the association president thanked the pair for their time, and allowed them to go out and find their last two group members, while he walked around introducing himself to more members of the class. While on the way, Milo and Zach talked about how interesting of a person Richard Brand was. He seemed much younger than he really was with how he conducted himself, he definitely seemed like an eccentric man, but didn't seem like a bad person.
Milo then told Zach his plan for their last two team members, the reason for selecting Luke and Chloe for their group, was due to the balance he was hoping to achieve in the team. Milo himself would act as the dealer of the group, Zach and Chloe would act as secondary dealers/support and lastly Luke would act as their support. While his plan didn't involve a tank, due to the level of the Gate they would be attacking being so low, they should still be able to close the gate fairly easily without a tank.
Once they found him, they approached Luke and asked his thoughts, he thought that they would make a good team and agreed to Milo's proposition. Chloe was a little more difficult, not because she didn't want to join them, but because she was so friendly to everyone that she felt bad telling one team no. Eventually, with some help she had declined her other group invites and joined Milo's group. With this, Milo had finalized his group of four.
