Upstairs, Mary and Little Wendy were getting ready. Martha, a plump woman in her forties was helping them with their outfits. She was a kind woman who had been working for the Evestons for years now.
Mary had already worn her silver gown and was fixing her hair, she tied her hair in a neat bun and let strands of her loose hair at the sides of her head.
Martha was helping Little Wendy with her gown and after she was done, she went to her hair. She made her hair into loosed waves behind her and placed a tiara on her head. Little Wendy looked into the mirror and was delighted at her reflection.
"You girls look so wonderful, I'm sure no one would be able to lose sight of you," Martha said happily with a smile.
"Thank you, Martha."Mary responded looking red.
When they were done dressing up, they proceeded out of the room to the party grounds.
Downstairs, Mr.Jonathan and Rooney were back from their work as promised and were greeting the guests. Diana took the microphone and welcomed everyone to the party again.
"Hello everyone, you are once again welcome to the birthday party of Miss Wendy Eveston." and before another word could fall out from Diana's lips, Mary and little Wendy made their appearance.
A loud gasp echoed in the room at the sight of the two lovely ladies.
As they descended the grand staircase, all eyes were fixated on them.No one could deflect their gaze from the lovely pair. Most of the guests...no all the guests were awestruck by the elegance of the duo. There were incoherent murmurs among the people.
Mr. and Mrs. Eveston were equally gobsmacked by their two daughters, so much that they almost couldn't recognize them.
"Are those Mary and Wendy?" Mr.Jonathan asked his wife who was now standing by him, unbelievably.
"Haha...Jonathan, they sure are your own two daughters." Portia replied, a wide smile on her lips.
Sylvester who had turned around to take a glimpse of the birthday girl was left dumbfounded at what met his eyes.
His gaze was not on the birthday girl but the girl beside her.
He was utterly mesmerized by her beauty and as she gracefully descended the stairs with the little girl beside her, he could only stare at her in utter amazement and intrigue.
Her long black hair was tied in a neat bun with loose strands by the sides of her head, her cute dimples, and that lovely smile that graced her lips. The gown she was wearing brought out her curves...and oh my God, she looked so...breathtaking. He couldn't take his eyes off her even if he wanted to.
Looking at her closely, her face looked somewhat familiar and he didn't take long to recognize her. She was the girl he had bumped into earlier today!
She looked so dazzling right now that he almost couldn't believe that she was the girl at the mall today. she sure looked beautiful then but this... this was way beyond his imagination.
Mary and little Wendy walked elegantly toward the small stage that had been set up and the guests slowly walked up to little Wendy to wish her and present their gifts to her.
"You really look amazing, "Kylie, Little Wendy's best friend praised her.
" Thanks, Kylie"
"And Happy Birthday once again."
"Thank you"
Kylie gifted Wendy a BFF necklace which looked so nice around her neck and Little Wendy appreciated it.
Mia, Josie, and Aiden -little Wendy's other friends were also invited and they came to wish her.
As more people surrounded little Wendy, Mary left her side to get something to drink at the bistro.
Mary strode toward the bistro in her glass heels and went to stand in front of the counter where drinks were served. She was yet to notice the handsome guy who stood not so far away from her.
"Can I get a glass of orange juice please?" Mary requested from the man who stood behind the counter.
"Yes please," the man responded hastily and went to do as asked.
"Orange juice?" a deep voice startled Mary from behind.
Mary turned to look at the person who had startled her from behind, and probably berate the person not to creep up on people like that, but when she turned, her words got stuck in her throat. Her eyes slightly widened and her lips parted.
"You" was all she voiced out.
Was this not the handsome guy he bumped into earlier today? What was he doing here?
"Do you really want to take orange juice on an evening like this? he questioned her, completely ignoring what she said earlier while twirling the glass in his hand.
" Wh...Why? what's wrong with it? she managed to say looking at his azure blue eyes that looked so captivating.
"Nothing, just saying." He replied shrugging his shoulders.
"Were you not the guy I bumped into earlier today? What are you doing here?" she questioned him ardently, her bright hazel eyes prying for answers.
He looked very alluring right now in those clothes and it took Mary some effort to not go blabbering nonsense because she was flabbergasted by his charm.
Sylvester just remained silent for a while and continued sipping on his drink, as if he had not heard her question him.
