"I think you already know the answer to your first question." Sly said after that short silence." And I don't want to get bored talking about the rest." he said nonchalantly.
Mary stared at Sylvester for a while as though she was processing what he said just now.
She pursed her lips and she finally spoke.
"Alright, if you don't want to talk about it, it's fine."
Sylvester just remained silent and continued sipping on his drink.
The man behind the counter had brought the juice Mary had requested and she averted her gaze from Sylvester and turned to take the glass from the man's hand and thanked him.
When she turned to face Sylvester, he was no longer standing there. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air.
Where did he go? Wasn't he just over here, or was she imagining things.
She turned again to face the man and questioned him.
"Wasn't a gentleman just standing over here with a glass in his hand? she said, pointing to where Sylvester was standing.
"Did you see him?" she asked to confirm that she wasn't hallucinating.
The man nodded his head and responded,
"Yes, he was just standing over there, but he's no longer there," he said craning his neck as he looked at the spot where the young man was standing.
Mary felt relieved that she wasn't in a delusion. she turned and left the bistro, with thoughts of that strange, but otherworldly handsome guy still lingering in her mind.
She looked around the room whether she would catch sight of him somewhere in the room but she didn't.
She would have actually thought she was just hallucinating about seeing and talking to him if not for the man at the bistro, who had also seen him.
As Mary walked back, someone bumped into her and she spilled her drink.
"oh...I'm incredibly sorry, I didn't mean to-" the young man who had bumped into Mary stopped talking suddenly when his eyes met Mary's.
He was stunned by Mary's beauty and was lost for words. He stared at her for a while until Mary's voice jolted him back to the present.
"Hello..." Mary said when she realized that the man was just staring and not saying anything.
"O...Oh...I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you and spill your drink" he said in a sincere tone."Let me go get you another drink." he was about to turn and leave when Mary stopped him.
"Don't worry, it's fine."
"Are you sure?" he asked her to be sure.
"Yes," Mary replied.
" By the way, I'm Dexter Clayton." he introduced himself stretching his hand in front of Mary and she hesitated before taking his hand in hers.
"Mary Eveston," She told him her name sharing a handshake with him.
"Nice name" he complimented.
"Thanks" Mary thanked him and retracted her hand from the handshake.
"You're such a beauty" he uttered causing Mary's eyes to slightly widen at the unexpected remark.
She pursed her lips and started to feel uncomfortable.
"Th..thank you" she stuttered causing Dexter to chuckle lightly.
