Chapter 18 - Classes I

For the past three days, I was with the boys and I found out that this event is called 'Battles' it existed for about three years, and the school allows it and even encourages these gatherings, but sadly battles are split in two currently, between silly and serious while 'silly' battles are mainly silly and entertaining the 'serious' battles are more serious and more for training purposes and or for dueling, there are no rewards for these games and you can always reject them if you so wish. But sometimes the school runs tournaments with these games as the basis and they reward them with rank increases (Academy individual ranking) or resources.

I've been participating constantly participating and playing the male-run Battles. I'm basically addicted to them, there were some cases where I had to rap, and I don't really know how to do so. So I became a laughing stock in rap battles, but my popularity increased significantly among boys, and sadly now that the summer break is over these events will only be held on weekends.

Anyway, now that school started I needed to focus on learning and gaining strength.

The first day was one the most important ones as one would do a check-up, and some tests to measure ranks, not only that most students didn't have weapons so they also needed us to choose the weapons.

"Damn I wonder what kind of class I got it's written here that my class is 24-A" I was currently talking with Ryan, sadly the other guy already left, and it appeared that he was quite introverted.

"Frick! I have 17-B I guess we aren't meant to be classmates." You'd think that roommates would be put in the same class but for some reason not.

"Truly a shame, anyway, after the day is over wanna grab something to eat as a celebration?" I asked Ryan, which he thought proceeded to think about.

"Hmmm, I guess I'm free, but you're buying" That sentence left me with one thought 'Shameless!'

"Fine, I'm buying. Anyway, this is where we split. See ya later"

'Where the hell is the classroom' I was constantly searching for the class until I gave up and asked a receptionist, which kindly showed me the way. Thanking her I stepped into the classroom.

The classroom was quite full and full of chatter, then I proceeded to sit most left in the second row seeing that the back row was full, and I actually wanted to learn, also I learned from my experiences that the best place to sit is the either most left or most right, second or third row. Because the teacher is focused mainly on the back row and front row, this strategy is optimal for cheating, which in this case is still impossible.

Waiting for a few minutes I notice some familiar faces from 'Battles,' but sadly I didn't interact too much with them, so I was still uncomfortable talking to them. Soon the class teacher entered the class and introduced herself.

"Hello, my name is Amanda Croft," hearing her name I abruptly stood up and pointed a finger at her, soon Blaze snapped me out of my daze and I sat back down while apologizing.

"Ahem, this is my first year teaching here and I hope to learn as much as you guys," As she said that she winked at me, I already knew what she meant by that. She thoroughly ruined my mood.

"While we have time to talk let's all introduce ourselves starting from the back row, when we finish introducing ourselves we will be heading out to do your check-ups and then later and after that doing the written tests to determine your ranks, and lastly you'll be picking your weapons later," people slowly introduced themselves, but I didn't bother listening as I was screaming in my mind.

"Second row most left, please introduce yourself" she purposefully didn't say my name out loud. I was beginning to rage, but I held it in.

"I'm Oscar Blake" I introduced myself as shortly as possible.

Soon everybody introduced themselves and everybody started heading outside the classroom towards a building, following Amanda.

'How the hell did she even get the job!!' I was internally screaming.

'Simple really she is a certified researcher who is also an A-Rank Mage, I don't think I need to explain how she got the job,' Blaze answered me, and slowly calmed down telling me that we had to expect this.

Realizing he was right and that I also had student rights I knew that she couldn't force me to sell out my knowledge.

'You mean mine right?' Blaze snapped me out of my thoughts and I could only agree, as he was the one who created the theories.

Soon we reached the testing room and were told to put our hands on a crystal ball that was connected to a massive machine.

The first student called put his hand on the crystal and soon he was given a watch that supposedly displayed many things like health, mana, and stats. Although it didn't really matter because most stats and health could be checked through the systems most had.

[Name: Oscar Blake]

[Rank: F+] (Bottlenecked)

[Attrbutes]

[Strength:28](+11)

[Agility:30](+9) [Intelligence:26](+12)

[Mana:13](+4.1) (Mana cap=15) [Charisma:25](+6)

[Physique:29](+7) [Reflexes:30](+12)

I had the most impressive stats out of anyone sadly I couldn't brag about it too much.

'Are you seriously thinking about that?' Blaze commented

Soon I was given a watch that I instantly put on and went back and sat down.

I was curious about the bottlenecks but I couldn't find anything on the internet, so we were probably going to be taught about it. So I wasn't worried, although I knew that if I wanted to I could definitely research and breakthrough, I didn't want to surpass too many of my classmates, because I wouldn't learn too much from dueling then and I would also gain much less XP.

Next was the written test which I wasn't ready for, but if anything I could always cheat with my skill.

The test seemed a bit hard but it didn't require me to cheat, and I also didn't want to cheat as cheating would make me a top student, and top students have a lot more responsibilities, and as I also need to program (Auto mana collection program) and I don't really have the time as I also needed to make money, and play 'Battles'.

After finishing the test, next was weapon selection, I already knew what I was going to pick others either planned or didn't have their weapons, although most academies required a Hunter certificate most students didn't really participate in any tournaments and mainly just did the tests and got the certificate. As I was stupid to read the contract I thought it was required to enter the tournament to gain the certificate.

Entering the selection room I found piles and piles of weapons also students trying each weapon, apparently, every class will soon come here and pick their weapons.

As we were the third class to come here there weren't that many students in the massive room, I went to pick up a one-handed sword and a pistol, my setup was quite unusual as most either picked melee or ranged, for ranged they picked bows and or guns, and for melee, they pick swords and shields.

Soon everything I wanted was picked and before Amanda could even ask questions I texted her that I picked the weapons I wanted and left. As she already told the class that as soon as the weapons were picked you could register them and then leave.

I left and waited for Ryan, when Ryan came out we went out and celebrated the beginning of a new semester.

While celebrating I realized that my 'Adventure' began and that I would need to fight a lot, I could only wonder what was in store for me.
