Siege was unsuccessful in finding out more about his parents. All he had was a keychain and a letter than was supposed to be for him...
*******
A woman stood in front of Siege's home, holding an expensive tablet. Technology like that couldn't be afforded in Siege's neighborhood...
*DING DONG*
Siege opened the door to find a woman wearing a suit and tie which had the Divine Governments logo on it. She had dark skin and long black hair which flowed down her neck. She wore dark glasses which she removed when she saw the orphan.
"Hello Siege Damon"
Siege stared back at her blankly. He didn't recognize the woman standing in front of him. He didn't understand by the Divine Government had sent someone to Siege's home.
"I will be your escort to the Nafan Training Camp" she continued, waiting for Siege to follow. She had assumed the boy would have been prepared and ready for such an opportunity.
With everything going on, Siege had completely forgotten about the training camp.
"Are you not Siege Damon" she asked, confused. "You gave us a call a few days ago informing us you wanted to take part in the Five-Day Training Course" she continued, checking her tablet.
"Yeah, Sorry... I am the one you're looking for. Let me just get ready" he replied, closing the door. He got his suitcase out from under his bed. He got changed and placed his Blood Stone into the box which he received years ago and packed it in his bag along with clothing and money...
He stepped out of his home, greeted by the woman. She refused to tell him her name as it was 'confidential'
"Let's go" she said, not even glancing up from her tablet. Siege heard the hint of frustration in her voice when she did so. The woman took an immediate disliking to the orphan as soon as she had met him.
"An orphan like him doesn't even deserve a spot in 'The Process" she thought to herself, smiling when she imagined the disappointed look on Siege's face when he would hear that he failed.
"There is no way that kid will get through stage one of 'The Process' she thought, walking towards the car parked outside Siege's house. Just a few meters behind her, Siege was too busy concentrating on the new notification he had just received.
[Quest Unlocked: Do not drink any liquid substances for the next 12 hours]
[Reward: 10 Experience Points]
"What sort of quest is this?" he muttered, bewildered. But he accepted the quest anyway, acknowledging the fact that it will help him in 'The Process'
"Did you say something?" asked the mysterious woman, observing him.
"No...Madam..." replied Siege.
Siege entered a fairly ordinary looking van which was parked on the side of the road. Siege had expected to have seen a much larger military van. Before he entered, he saw Victoria standing in the distance, smiling and waving at him...
*******
The Van conveniently held twelve passengers. The driver, the woman who came to collect him and ten students...
He inspected the people sitting inside the van and wasn't surprised to see that all of the attendants came from a poor background. All nine attendants had an intense ferocity in their eyes. The difference in age gap didn't surprise Siege either. Their ages ranged from twelve years old to eighteen...
The youngest one, who Siege presumed to be twelve, stared straight ahead, her face blank. The girl showed no emotion. She portrayed stone cold determinism. Siege could see that she had suffered in the past. She had the hands of someone who had worked her whole life to pass 'The Process' and he knew she wouldn't be the only one. Siege felt slightly concerned when he realized that the girl would lose her sanity to pass 'The Process'...
He opted for the seat at the very back as it was the only one available. Moreover, Siege didn't want to be too noticeable before he even reached the camp. It could result in him being targeted in the various challenges The Nafan Training Centre had in store for them hence why he decided not to befriend anyone in the early stages of camp...
The van roared to life and started to move. Siege took a deep breathe as the van reached the main road. He was finally on his way to the Training Centre. The whole journey took place in dead silence. None of the students dared make eye contact because they all knew they were going to be enemies at the camp. Occasionally, the driver, a stout, bald man stared out of the rear view mirror, watching the students closely. His uniform made Siege think he was a retired military soldier.
Siege sensed madness in the man's eyes. A deep red scar ran through one of his eyes, making him look even more terrifying. The man seemed to be watching Siege more closely than anyone else on the bus, taking a keen interest in him...
"It will take roughly four hours to reach The Training Camp" said the driver. He possessed a high-pitched voice, which completely contradicted his bold outward appearance. All the students except the twelve year old girl nodded in understanding.
After four hours in to the journey, Siege's eyes started to feel heavy. His mind and body begged for sleep although he knew he had excellent sleep the night before.
"A little bit of sleep won't hurt" Siege thought...
