A small camera was watched as Siege and Daniel entered the room in pitch black darkness. Their every motion was being analyzed and studied by an expert group of scientists. Winning wasn't the ticket to getting accepted into the Training Camp, although it was rare anyone who came out alive got declined.
The students were told that in order to get into camp, you must kill your opponent. Although there is truth in this, it was a psychological test to bring out the true nature of the students in a life or death situation.
The cube room was made of steel on all six sides. The door was sealed shut and only Violet had access to open it. If the Death Duel was not finished within ten minutes, a toxic gas called X-b12 was to be put into the cube in mass quantities through the millions and millions of tiny holes in the steel chamber.
A duel taking longer than ten minutes was a rare occurrence. The desire to win or the thought of dying to X-b12 gas would push one of both sides to kill.
The Divine Government only cares about the people who are physically, mentally, and psychologically strong. Before the test, all students were examined, anyone who had visible disabilities and signs of social aggression were automatically rejected. But they would be made to go through the trail anyway, without knowing they have already failed...
*******
Siege tried to keep cool and calm, not showing any signs of weakness. He knew the Duel was being monitored, and so he tried his best to seem like a good candidate, but at the same time, trying not to look too smug.
A voice announcement came from a speaker inside the steel chamber:
"The time will start in 20 seconds..." came the voice of Violet. The noise echoed throughout the chamber, breaking the eternal silence between Siege and Daniel.
Siege found it difficult to see the opponent in the dark room. Daniel's eyes showed signs of uncertainty and anxiety. Siege smiled when he saw the boy's eyes. He had already made his decision...
"I will never progress if I feel pity for weaklings like you!" Siege shouted, a surge of power rushing through his body.
[Prepare for battle!]
"Inspect" Siege whispered.
[Wish to use Potential: Inspect?]
"Yes..."
[Name: Daniel Wang]
[Species: Illusionist]
[Strength: 10]
[Agility: 25]
[Stamina: 10]
[Intelligence: 15]
[Rank: 1]
[Potential Unlocked: Blood Control]
[Information: Blood Control: Allows User: Siege Damon to use the blood of opponent to boost stamina 2x]
Siege gawked at the new Potential, momentarily forgetting about the Daniel, who had moved back into the shadows. He was still unsure about attacking Siege.
"I'd rather die of gas than kill someone..." Daniel whispered, tears rolling down his eyes.
Siege burst into laughter, feeling no pity for the boy. It reminded him of himself, weak and unable to use magic.
Looking at Daniel's stats, Siege could see that he was a weakling. "He has to heavily rely on his magic because he is physically weak" Siege thought, analyzing Daniel's stats once more.
"I'm a Magic User now! I'm going to use it to my full potential!" he shouted, running at the boy. Daniel didn't move. He was terrified of the boy, who was acting completely out of character from before.
"No, please..." Daniel said, closing his eyes and bracing for impact.
This made Siege flinch for a split second, therefore losing the momentum of the attack. This gave Daniel enough time to dodge the attack...
"Don't hurt me" he said sarcastically. Moments later, he started laughing hysterically.
"Why are you laughing?!" Siege shouted, confused. He thought his opponent had gone insane.
"Nothing..." Daniel said, snickering. "You said those who can't kill, people like me, don't deserve to get into camp" he continued, his face intense. "You thought I was...weak?!" he said, laughing. "Sure, my strength may not be the greatest, but that's not my specialty, is it now?"
"You really are stupid!" he said, resting his back against the cold steel wall.
"..."
"Well, let's see if you're right, huh?" he screamed, raising his arms into the air. A faint green ball of light appearing in his hands.
"Huh, what are you doing?!" Siege asked, startled by the sudden change in Daniel's attitude. Only a few seconds passed and Siege watched as the green ball of magic energy grew. He wondered what Daniel was doing. But the realization hit him too late...
"You're not trying to attack, are you?"
"You'll see... Welcome to your worst nightmare!" he shouted, laughing, releasing the attack. The green ball of light spread across Siege's skin.
"It doesn't hurt..." he murmured in a split second of dizziness and confusion. The world grew dark around Siege as Daniel's psychotic grin grew wider and wider.
"What you're going to go through will be much worse than pain..."
