"I cannot believe that you would plan something this incriminating with a stranger!"
If her sister's shock was not conveyed enough with her words, her expression did so perfectly.
"He's not a stranger."
"Well then who is he, your secret boyfriend?" Her incredulous retort was something Fran didn't know how to respond to.
She had opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
She couldn't exactly say anything.
Blake was now dating her, after all.
"Um, well-"
"Oh my God!"
Sam was rendered speechless.
Her brown eyes were blown wide in exasperation but she looked more ready to pass out right then and there; in the car seat ;than anything else.
"How did you even meet?"
Francis still remembered exactly how she met the guy a few months ago and she found herself immidiately stuck in her memories.
It was after her mom's funeral. She was on her way to her new school when it started pouring outside. It had made it a lot harder to see. When the car started swirving, she hit the breaks only to hear a big thump on her back left.
Her mood had completely plummeted.
She had immidiately Bern soaked the second she stepped out of the car, her copper hair mostly sticking to the back of her neck and sides of her face. She opened the car trunk and closed it with a slam after grabbing the spanner.
She moved to the place she heard a thump and put the spanner on one of the bolts, hands shaking.
Why would the damn spanner not fit!
She hit her head on the fender and let the planner slip out of her hands.
There was no signal where she was, so far away from town, in the middle of nowhere!
She was stuck in the middle of nowhere, nerve wrecked and almost outright sobbing, eyes blurry from both the tears and the rain.
When had she started crying?
She heard the engine before she could even see the dull light coming from her side.
She glanced sideways to see a car parked behind her.
A man's silhouette came out of the car, but she could only see his features as he walked closer.
Messy black hair stuck to his forehead and eyes as green as the forest surrounding them with a jaw that seemed sharp enough to cut paper.
He was getting more soaked the closer he strode towards her.
The man took off his jacket, pulled it over her, and bent down to eye level with her and asked if he could help. She was almost taken aback by his deep voice.
She only nodded.
He took the spanner that had slipped from her hands and started taking off the bolts.
The white shirt he wore gave way to his lean body.
Francis watched him take the tire off and turn towards her.
"Where are your spare tires and where can I put this?"
"The boot," her throat felt as dry as sandpaper.
It burned even as she breathed.
After he had finished replacing the tire and putting away the busted one, she shakily got up again. She got in as he opened the door to the drivers seat.
"Thank you."
She meant it.
He smiled kindly and closed the door,"Of course."
"Be careful on the road. It gets dangerous when it rains."
She nodded her head in agreement and started the engine. The man's figure faded the further she drove.
She only realised as she parked at the school that she still had his jacket at the top of her head.
"In a storm."
"Wow. Just, wow. The information-" Sam cut herself off and glared at her older sister. "That's all your giving me?"
"He fixed my busted tire. In a storm."
Sam eventually calmed down and agreed to help after her explanation of how she met him, with the condition that she would meet him.
