A body wrapped in patient clothes there still kept her eyes closed. Ignoring the one person who had been crying beside her since a few hours ago. A bandaged leg, and one hand receiving an IV. There were no serious injuries but one person besides the girl kept on letting out voices and tears of sorrow.
Araya. The girl with the blonde hair was so disappointed with herself. She was incompetent to take care of her best friend until the girl was injured again, even Araya knew of Michaella's accident a few hours later. She felt even more guilty for letting Michaella go alone and ending up like this. Araya felt useless.
"Micha wake up. Forgive me." Araya still hasn't stopped uttering her apologies since she came here.
Michaella was still closed a eye. Her breathing was regular with one hand tightly gripped by Araya. Sleep is comfortable without feeling any burden. Ignore all fears and focus only on comfort in sleep.
A knock made Araya turn around. She saw a doctor and two nurses approaching with some equipment. Araya wiped away the tears.
"When will Michaella wake up?" She asked so close to the young doctor who was staring at Michaella.
The doctor gave a faint smile. "Who knows? There should be nothing serious from this accident, but her arm received a shot and her arm was shot despite being treated and bleeding profusely. It could have made her consciousness last a little longer because of the pain she was detain on to befored."
Arya rolled her eyes. "Shot?"
The doctor nodded. "I found traces of a bullet lodged in her right arm. She was bleeding because the wound was added to the accident she received this morning. She has a strong metabolism, she will wake up."
Araya looked at Michaela. Her heart ached to know that Michaella was so good at hiding her pain. Even when her body received a lot of injuries, the girl would just stand still. Araya doesn't know how else to take care of Michaella who is a little selfish.
The two nurses changed the bandages on Michaella's arms and legs after the doctor checked. It was late afternoon, but Araya seemed reluctant to just leave this all-white room. She just wanted to see Michaella open her eyes again, and then she asked which part is injured. But for now, all her shadows seemed to have been deliberately destroyed with Michaella's condition still closed.
"I go first."
Araya nodded in response to the young doctor's words. Two other nurses also left after confirming that the bandages had been changed. Araya drew closer. Staring fully at Michaella who was still closed without feeling the slightest bit disturbed. The girl smiled wryly. Why Michaella's life path is so different from a week ago?
Everything seems to have never been thought of before and reality speaks emphatically that this is her destiny.
Araya took a deep breath. She sat back in her chair and watched Michaella from her position. Silence with all the thoughts that keep bothering her, but she also can't just ignore them. Michaela and her life. If it was Araya, maybe she had given up since seeing his family members abandon her. But it all happened to Michaella. Such a strong and tough girl.
"Why are you so strong, Micha? Here I am the one who feels even more guilty if you keep hiding all your pain. I'm sorry for the loss of all your family members, but promise me you'll survive. Please don't go."
Araya looked at Michaella's fingers, hoping for a miracle to come and Michaella's fingers moved. She continued to observe the finger but there was no change at all. Scenes in a film or a story are not like in reality. The proof is that Michaella's fingers still don't move like in a scene in a movie. The girl still did not show consciousness after a full day lying in bed.
Araya fiddled with Michaella's fingers. Don't want to think about when Michaella will wake up. She just hoped that her best friend would soon open her eyes and live life as usual. Forget all the pain and live much better than before. Araya only hoped that Michaella would not think about giving up and instead hurt herself just to hide the pain.
"I found a letter from your drawer. Why didn't you tell me if you got a letter from a handsome guy? I will support your relationship if you don't ignore the guy but the problem is why did you reject him, huh? What a strange girl."
Araya chuckled remembering the contents of the letter she read while cleaning Michaella's bedroom earlier. "If it had happened to me, I certainly wouldn't have refused. After all, he's a rich man. Ah, do I look like a slut now? Just think of having a handsome and rich lover. But, to be honest, I also just accepted a guy recently."
Araya looked at Michaella who was still closed. "I hope you find a good man and love you so much. Divert all your world until there is no more fear and disappointment. A man who always makes you happy no matter what the circumstances and accepts you as you are. I can only wish you a speedy recovery and find your happiness again. I will always be Araya who will support you."
Araya nodded slowly. She stroked Michaela's head affectionately. "Hurry up and wake up. Don't you feel sorry for me who can't calm down? I even got tired of crying and you just ignored me. My best friend Michaella never gives up, and that's you."
Araya smiled. She left after that, took the compress, and started to clean Michaella's body with clean water. Ignoring Michaella who is still asleep with her unconscious. Araya was just trying not to escape reality and trying to realize that everything would be okay. Michaella will wake up for a long time and she will continue to wait. Yes… Araya will continue to wait until Michaella regains consciousness.
Araya reorganized Michaella's clothes and blanket. Wrapped the girl's body to keep it comfortable then sat back down. Her eyes darted around the room. It's lonely and there's no one. If only Michaella's family was still around, they would be here and try to comfort Araya not be sad even though Araya herself knew they were sadder than her. Araya missed her second family along with laughter from Michaella. Unfortunately, now she can only indulge in fancies and smile at her reflection.
Araya took a deep breath. Calming herself not to keep thinking about people who are gone for good. Although the longing will still be there, that does not mean trying to keep on remembering and the heart feels pain again. It was just a pointless act that would self-harm.
"When will you wake up, Micha?"
Araya's hand again grabbed Michaella's finger. Her smile tugged. Her eyes felt heavy from crying too long. She even forgot she hadn't eaten since noon until she felt hungry. Foolishly, she ignored them and refocused on Michaella's situation. Araya would not leave this room until Michaella realized.
"You're not hungry, Micha? You also didn't eat the food I sent you this morning and even kicked me out. I'm okay because of what you did this morning, I know you still need time to be alone and think of a way out of your problem. No problem. I will support all your decisions."
Araya again tried to invite Michaella to talk even though she knew Michaella would not listen. She just wanted to say what she was thinking without caring if anyone heard her. She was also sure that if Michaella realized, the girl would always listen to her and even give a good response. Araya misses Michaella.
