When Vidus looked at Lyanna's blood-red eyes, cold sweat flowed down on his back. He fell back on his buttocks as her aura regained its power with her consciousness.
But after a few seconds, later Lyanna's head fell on the floor again with turned-up eyes.
Vidus looked at the cell as he saw a figure from a horrible nightmare. In his eyes, at the moment when Lyanna woke up, a thin layer of strange, bluish flame waved like a second skin.
"Haaah, haaah ..."
A few stabilized breaths later Vidus wiped the sweat on his forehead and stood up with trembling legs. Without turning his back to the cell where the girl was, he walked back to his chair and sat down with a pale face.
'What a terrifying aura she has ... If I didn't deactivate my aura I think I would become insane at least ...' He unbuttoned his chest plate on his left side, throwing it on the floor while his mind was in a complete mess.
Vidus buried his face in his palms while he looked at the cell between his opened fingers. He had no idea what happened nor who is that girl. Such an indescribable and unimaginable should not exist at this point.
"What a lucky bastard I am? She exhausted her body and depleted all of her mana ... if she had a little more ..." He talked to himself, scratching his head.
A new day arrived while Vidus deeply sank in his thoughts.
*Cling*
Someone hit the iron part of the doorway with a dagger and the noise pulled back Vidus from his sea of thoughts.
"Waah? You, piece of ...! Arghh ..." He nearly jumped off his chair.
As he turned his head in the direction of the noise, he noticed Radan's unfitting smiley face.
After Radan made this little scary thing as a joke, he realized that something was off at the very moment he saw Vidus' face.
"Did something happen?" He asked with a serious look.
"If you wanted to give me a heart attack, then you walk on the right path!" Vidus released some of his stress with this sentence as he sat back on his chair.
Vidus rubbed his tired eyes and started to talk again.
"What do you wanna be?"
"What are you talking about?" Radan asked back.
"Warlord Aura." Vidus activated his aura with a whispering, as low voice as much as would possible.
He murmured his words like he whispered, even Radan couldn't hear him, while Vidus eyes turned at the cell where the unnamed girl lay.
He gulped a slightly bigger one because he noticed the girl woke up and listened to what did they speak. Vidus gave out a huge sigh before he spoke again.
"Huuhh ... Radan. Do you wanna be a hero or a traitor." He said those words as casually as it sounded some kind of statement instead of a question.
Radan looked at his friend with a puzzled expression.
"You mean 'that' event?" He asked in a little nervous tone.
Vidus just nodded without a word.
"I regretted. But at that time, huh ... why did you bring it up? I thought we talked about it years ago." The weight of the words that left his mouth made his every heartbeat painful.
Vidus didn't say a word, just looked at his friend with honest eyes. Even a drop of tear appeared in the edge of his eyes that slowly flowed down on his face, fell on the cold stone floor.
Vidus and Radan experienced something that they never imagined could happen after that event.
Vidus slightly shook his head as he raised to look at Radan.
"D-do you think if I have a chance, they would forgive me? Even if they would take my life?" Vidus eyes shined in happiness and sorrow.
Radan became completely pointless.
'What happened to him? I only saw him like this when ...' Radan pondered a little, but after some thinking, even his thoughts froze down.
"Do you think they would forgive me if I give my life to them?" Tears flowed down Vidus' face.
"What are you talking about?!"
Radan couldn't hold back himself grabbed his friend's shoulders and shook it hard, hoping that Vidus' right mind would come back after it.
A half-minute later when Radan exhausted his arms a little and released Vidus, Vidus stood up and slowly walked to the cell where the girl was.
Without any sign, he fell on his knees, pressed his forehead to the floor, and opened his mouth.
His voice was filled with regret and sorrow.
"Your majesty! Please, forgive for my sins!"
