"H-How ... ?" Vidus looked at Lyanna in full of disbelief.
Wild ideas and theories are created by the people about the princess's whereabouts.
"Miss L-Lyanna." Radan swallowed hardly.
He kneeled before her and pushed his forehead to the ground.
"Miss Lyanna. I want to make an oath to live and die for you!" He said out loud.
'The people are so unreasonable.' Lyanna thought as she take a peek at both men.
"Make an oath?" Lyanna's cold and emotionless voice resounded in their ears.
Lyanna had a reason to ask this. Inside her heart, she already stated the people who once turned their backs on those who they were supposed to protect will do it again if needed for their survival.
Vidus killed many people for his life, even his wife, and lied to his best friend who was also his brother-in-law. His soul and heart suffered a lot, but his aura was also strengthened by these tortures.
In Lyanna's eyes, Vidus soul was similar to a dirtied cloth that had been tossed to the corner of the room.
She then looked at Radan. He also left his duties and in a way, betrayed his home. Maybe his hands were not soaked in blood, he still seemed to be a stranger on the streets in her eyes.
"I won't ask nor pleased with an oath. Open the cell and let me meet the city lord." She said nonchalantly.
"The city lord?" Radan raised his head, ignoring the first part of her sentence.
"Miss Lyanna, the city lord don't live in Lakron. Also, his title is not city lord either anymore." Vidus spoke after a short silence.
Lyanna raised her eyebrows and this statement increased the currently suppressed turmoil in her heart. It was as clear as the freshly fallen snow that the city lord of Lakron sold his loyalty and let the armies of the empire invade the kingdom with an opened door.
"Where is the city lord?" Dreadful pressure appeared in the room around Lyanna.
"He lives in Morakhon and he controls the area around the city, including Lakron." Radan replied with sweat on his face.
Lyanna didn't say any more words, she just casually stepped forward and lifted her arm, and gripped her fingers around the bar.
"Wait, Miss Lyanna!" Vidus jumped before her. "We can't let you out for now because of the incident that happened ... And the lady should let rest her body to recover ..."
Vidus slightly lowered his head because Lyanna's exhaustion was mostly caused by his aura after she killed Dave.
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
"Excuse me, commander. The gate guards have an urgent report."
Someone knocked on the door of the prison's entrance in a nervous voice. Radan turned and looked at the door with interest.
"Please, milady. Pretend you are unconscious and lie down in the cell." Vidus whispered to Lyanna.
"Come in." Radan picked up his sword quickly and put it away.
Lyanna looked strangely and instead of following Vidus' words, she simply sat down on the floor in the darker corner of her cell.
The door opened and a normally equipped armored man stepped inside with a bow.
"Commander. The gate guards reported that two scouting squads appeared before the western gate."
"Let me speak with the guards." Vidus walked towards the man and together left the building.
It was the commander's duty to welcome the military guests and higher-ups.
Radan turned his head toward the cell where Lyanna was. He was confused about her and began thinking about what could happen if the people will know about her existence.
"How the lady got here?"
That was the first question in Radan's mind, since if she was that strong, how the hell did she fall into this state?
"I don't know. I just felt my body is weak and I collapsed." Lyanna answered casually, didn't pay any attention for the reasons.
"Hm ... Maybe I know the reason." He said.
"..."
None other thing but the silence and the quiet breeze crossing the iron bars could be heard inside the wall of the prison. Lyanna's heart pounded in a slow rhythm as she immersed herself in her thoughts while Radan felt a little uneasiness and uncomfortable pressure inside his chest.
"My lady ..."
"Do not call me 'your lady'. I do not belong to anyone in this world." She interrupted him with a sudden, cold explosive wave of flat voice.
Radan scratched his head as he didn't know how he should behave when a girl is near him like Lyanna. He became completely puzzled because the two women he whenever interacted with in his entire life were only his sister and wife.
'Hah, please, help me, dear Goddess!' He cried inwardly.
