Chapter 10 - Two Men in the Game Shop

It was day 50, and the people Diego dispatched to collect intel were yet to arrive. Meanwhile, Diego was away with his men attending to various jobs. Alec took the time and went outside with Diego's car and drove around to familiarize himself with the city.

He went to a street vendor to try Mexican meals. "Hola, joven hombre. ¿Qué quieres comprar?" The chef greeted Alec with enthusiasm. "Uhm, can you give me this?" Alec replied in Spanish as he pointed at a bun that looked like a thin burger.

"Oh, you mean the Panbazo? Good choice!" The middle-aged man said in enthusiasm. Alec ignored him and placed his thought on completing the game.

Moments later, the chef handed the Panbazo to Alec, who collected it and paid him. Then he continued driving along the roads while taking notes of landmarks and street names. Alec could not help but compliment the chef for making such a delicious snack. This was absolutely delicious.

With his mood lifted, Alec drove to a nearby game shop. It had been more than a month since he picked up a controller to play a game, and he missed it a lot. Back in his hostel, he used to play Halo 2 game and Half-life, which was his favorite.

Not that the later versions of the game are bad though, but because his computer was not capable enough to play them, he was stuck on playing the older version of the game.

The graphics card he bought prior was to aid him in playing some current games in the market. Ji Hoon always told him to purchase a new laptop, but god knows where he would get the money to buy one. If he had the money to buy it, would he be using his crappy laptop?

Arriving at the game centre, Alec could see that the place was almost empty. There were two people inside the building, which caused Alec to raise his brow. He dropped down from the car and headed to the game centre.

"Hola. What do you want? You want to play a game?" A bearded man asked as soon as Alec stepped his foot in the game section. "Yeah, I just want to play one game", Alec replied.

The bearded man looked at him from up to down, before making way for Alec to pass. Alec then headed to the nearest computer and sat down. "What game do you want to play?" The man asked again, hovering over Alec. "What game do you have?" Alec returned the question.

"PES 2017 to 2020, Call of Duty Warzone, Shooters from Hell, Halo Infinite..." the man then listed four more games. Alec's mind piqued at the mention of Halo Infinite. "I'll play Halo Infinite".

"300 pesos", the man said directly. Alec was not surprised at the amount. The game was expensive, to begin with, and the hardware requirements were too steep. Even if one met all the requirements of the game, there was no guarantee that it would play flawlessly.

Alec counted the notes and handed them to the man, who gladly took them and left Alec to his peace. Alec proceeded to launch the game and play it.

'Wow", Alec exclaimed softly. This game was a hundred times better than the one he plays on his laptop. The graphics, the latency, the characters were top-notch. Alec had expected this to be the case, but experiencing it for himself was another level.

Playing this game made Alec feel he has been playing old games with his hands chained. Seriously, this was a much better gaming experience. I swear by the time I come back to reality, I will buy a new laptop, Alec swore in his mind.

While Alec was busy enjoying the game, two people walked into the center. The middle-aged man who was sitting in front of a computer immediately stood up and blocked the men.

"What do you want?" The game center owner asked as he sized the two men in black suits. One of the men approached the man and removed his glasses. "Do you have a customer here?"

"Yes, and what do you need that information for? My customers are my business", the man said indifferently. "If you don't want to play a game, leave my shop", he added ferociously.

"Old man, we just want to talk to the person only, and if you want to make it difficult for us, we will have no choice but to use, other means", the second man in the black suit said as he put his hands inside of his suit, taking out something.

The game owner suddenly broke cold sweat. He subconsciously retreated seeing the M6 rifle on his suit. "Come in, please. But make it quick", the game owner struggle to say as he rushed out of the game center.

The two men looked at each other and nodded simultaneously. Then they took their guns and aimed at the door to the game section. The game owner after leaving the building ran for his life in fright. He stopped at a filling station and looked over at his shop and felt sad.

"Joven, ¿qué le hiciste a esta gente?" He shook his head in pity, meaning "young man, what did you do to these people?". While he was feeling sad about him, he heard a gunshot. The game owner covered his face and sighed.

Meanwhile, in the game shop, one of the men was kneeling, his nose completely shattered and bleeding. His other companion was lying dead in a pool of his blood. Alec pointed his gun at him and asked without expression.

"You were sent by the mafia, correct?" The kneeling man coughed up blood and stared at Alec with a wide grin on his face. "You can not keep running forever, godfather will find you, I promise you that. He will avenge his death, so say your last prayer while you patiently wait for your death", the man said and spat another mouthful of blood.

Alex said nothing. He took out a paper from his suit that contained a geological map. Red dots were indicating specific spots on the map. "What is this map for?" Alec asked as he showed it to the kneeling man.

"F**k you!" The man cursed and spat a mouthful of blood and saliva towards Alec's face, but Alec dodged it in time. "Sigh, it looks like you've resigned your life to me", Alec said and took out his desert gun and aimed it at the man's forehead.

"Tick tock, tick tock", the kneeling man sneered as he cackled loudly, before a shot on the head forever silenced him. Alec put away the gun and left the game shop. He would study this map when he gets home. So he put it away and headed for the car.

He then drove away and headed for home. But his problem was yet to end.

While he was driving, he noticed two red cars were trailing behind him. Alec automatically knew who there were, but pretended otherwise. He continued driving and turned left, away from the direction of Diego's house.

"Diego, you hear me", Alec said as soon as the call was connected. "Yeah, I hear you brother, what's up?" Diego answered. "Nothing, I kinda have a small problem here".

Diego already knew from Alec's voice that he was in trouble. "Tell me your location", he said with a hardened voice.
