At night, instead of driving to his house, Timothy pulled over and went to David's residence. He needed to start cleaning up the mess in his life.
Even if he went straight to his apartment, the level of guilt he would be experiencing would prevent him from falling asleep. Therefore, it would be a relief on one side to resolve matters with David this evening.
Timothy sighed with frustration. Despite knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell constantly for a few minutes in front of David's apartment, David would not respond to his knocks.
"David, would you please open the door? Look, I'm sorry for all I said and did, can you please let me in? David, I need you, you're my only brother, and I'm miserable without you. You were right to say I've turned out to be a ruthless creature, and I despise myself for talking trash about Megan or insulting and accusing you of sleeping with her."
He said at the top of his lungs, without caring if anyone else could hear him, "Please, dude, open up. I'm sincerely sorry for everything, I want to make things right, and I'm ready to move on from Alice's betrayal and accept my obligations." Still, David continued to show no signs of opening the door.
He slumped to the ground by David's door, his face buried in his hands in a look of defeat.
After a while, David finally opened the door with some hesitation. Timothy got up in surprise. David led him into his magnificent two-bedroom townhouse. David, who was showered and ready for bed, stood by the door with his arms folded and stared directly into Timothy's eyes, who were still wearing his suit.
Timothy felt David was still angry with him since he did not have a friendly expression on his face.
"I know you heard what I said outside. Please forgive me, bro our friendship means a lot to me."
"Are you here because you need my advice or genuinely want to apologize to me?"
Timothy sighs painfully. He needed his assistance or, let's say, advice. However, his main priority was to get his closest friend back. "I need my brother's forgiveness first, and then everything else can come afterward."
"Okay, maybe I'll give you a chance...." David started to say but Timothy cut him off by squeezing him tightly in a brotherly embrace.
David laughed, "I need to regain my breath, so could you get off from me."
"Sorry," said Timothy with a dejected grin on his face.
David proceeded to his home's bar area. He took two glasses and a bottle of champagne. He sat down on the sofa next to Timothy after pouring some champagne for himself and him.
"So tell me, how's your life going?" David enquired.
Before putting his champagne glass to his lips, Timothy replied, "Terrible."
David glanced at him puzzled. "It turns out that I destroyed my life with my own actions and Megan is not taking things easy with me."
Timothy sighed and started to tell David what had transpired earlier today when he arrived at his office, the documents and what his attorney had to say about them. David let out a satisfying whoop of laughter. He admired the way Megan handled everything. She had undoubtedly imparted a lesson to his best friend that he would never forget.
"I adore her even more now," David admitted, drawing a glare from Timothy.
Calm down, dude. "I don't mean adore her in the sense of what you feel for her, I mean adore in the sense of respect. I haven't even met her yet, yet I already have so much respect for her."
"Damn, I'm extremely amazed, but I never imagined she was someone of such a prominent status. The day she returned the few bucks you gave her from the one-night stand, I knew she wasn't chasing your money."
"You have until tomorrow to return the documents, will you approve them? What are you going to do now?"
"Of course not. I want to be a part of their lives," he replied.
"Then what will you do?" David questioned.
"Mom urged that I go meet her and apologize to her, therefore I should do that," he said.
"Wow, mom knows best."
"She talked some sense into me when I headed over to the mansion this evening to ask for advice."
"She's right, but you've done a lot of harm. You don't expect Megan to throw wide her arms and welcome you as if nothing ever happened."
"I know, but I'll keep trying to ask her forgiveness."
"Lucia currently an intern at the company where she works, told us that Tammy took Megan home from the office because Megan wasn't feeling well and that Tammy was Megan's best friend."
David gasped in surprise, "Tammy, your cousin? The one you've barely gotten along with?"
"Sadly, Yes!"
"Timothy, you really have a long way to go and a lot of hearts to win."
"I know," Timothy whispered. "This is why I need you."
He answered, "To be frank Timothy, I don't think there's something I can do. At least as of the moment. You have to meet Megan personally, and let her realize that you're sorry and that you're a new person. Then perhaps later I can come in and talk to her on your behalf, but most of the work is on you." Timothy nodded in agreement.
"Emma gave me Tammy's phone number, but before I call Tammy for assistance, I'd like to call Megan first."
