ALESTER:
After Samantha left the cafeteria, Alester's heart ached more than ever, but his head had become clear. He was certain he knew what he needed to do, and the first step was to get some sleep.
His head hit the pillow, and within seconds, he was out like a light. Dawn came before he woke, but his sleep felt non-existent. Alester gasped and sat up, clutching his chest. His ears buzzed, mimicking the sound of a high-pitched scream. With pain so strong and so real, it took him a moment to realize it was just a dream.
Though his pounding heart and ragged breath pointed to a horror-based nightmare, it wasn't terror that he felt, but a strong sense of agony and loss. A feeling one could only imagine would be possible after the death of a loved one.
'What was that?' He thought. Just what had the dream been about? He couldn't remember.
As Alester left the shower, the pain in his heart wouldn't go away.
