Emily was initially irritated, but when she found out what went wrong with the invitation, she felt more uncomfortable. After all, it showed that she could not manage the staff in her household. One of her maids even dared to steal her invitation and stole her identity.
"How can this be?" She looked at Jude; he was supposed to get reliable people, not people greedy for wealth.
"I have little to say. I knew she was going to all the recent events pretending to be you; I did not expose her because I thought you wanted to live in a low-profile manner," Jude replied. He thought that she could be a layer of protection for Emily. He did not expect her to become an embarrassment instead.
Usually, Mrs Charles would present the invitation to Jude, and he would prepare the gift in the name of their house. Because of the quality of the gifts sent over by Mrs Charles in the past few months, the other women have also been fooled.
