The manager thought that Emily will come down after listening to their threats. They were about to make more ridiculous demands when they registered the meaning of her words.
"you..." Mr. Adams pointed a finger at her, "Do you think we will back down," Mr. Adams asked.
"I hope you don't, you seem to have forgotten that you signed a contract when you join the company. Of course, I am looking for your compassion for resigning without a three-month notice to the company. Plus you have caused this company to lose money with your behavior. As it is the company lacks funds we will be happy for your voluntary donation, " Emily was calm she was not affected by his behavior at all.
The eight managers felt like they have been poured cold water, indeed they have all signed a contract when they joined the company, and to think they are in the wrong whatever little money they might have gathered in the last five years might not be able to pay the compassion they owe the company.
"Do you have anything else to say?" Emily asked. Her gaze was resting on Mr. Adams she knew that he had instigated the behavior of the other managers.
Mr. Adams's face was red with Embarrassment, when he matched to the president's office he had not expected to receive such a slap in the face. "Then I will see you in court," he had gone too far and was unwilling to leave defeated.
Emily Smiled, as expected she knew Mr. Adams was the kind of man whose pride will never let him abandon a sinking ship.
"anyone else?" Emily looked at the managers that were standing behind Mr. Adams. Many of the managers looked away but two managers came to stand beside Mr. Adams.
"We are in this together, what kind of a boss behaves this way. I will let the whole world know the standards of Steam co." one of the managers threatened.
"Be my guess, remember when you slander us on social media, we can sue you for it. Please ensure you have money to pay for damages. Emily did not feel threatened at all. She wanted to trend on social media anyway. Who would reject a chance for free publicity while earning money?
Seeing the smug smile on Emily's face, the manager who threatened her was furious he felt like slapping it off her face but he did not dare to know that nothing good will come out of it.
"you can leave now, or do you want the security to throw you out?" Emily asked seeing that the men were standing in their place with no plans of moving away.
Mr. Adams turned around without saying anything, he looked at the managers that did not stand by him as fools. Although the case would be hard but without evidence, Emily will suffer some losses. Even if he loses the case Emily will still lose money and customers.
The other managers looked away, they were not foolish enough to think that they can win when they were the ones at fault. It was best to accept the suspicious and lose a bit of money than lose all they own to pay for compensation.
Mr. Adams did not expect many of them to support him, but he was still disappointed by the result.
"We should Steam on social media," the data analysis manager spat. He was angry and was willing to do anything to make steam suffer a loss, even if it was temporal or small.
"That's right, who does she think she is? Fortunately, nobody care on social media, the more noise we manage to make the worst it is for Steam.
Mr. Adams rolled his eyes hearing what he said. It was bad to have donkey heads as a teammate but he knew he needed them, at least with another person there might be a chance to win. Emily already promised to sue them if they dared drag her on social media even if she does not have evidence they have been late for meetings three times. Maybe at first when they started making noise they might win, but when the table turns they would have to forget about getting a job in their lifetime.
After all even if Steam does not have the power to stop other companies from employing them, no company will want people like them.
" No, we have to concentrate on getting any evidence that can be used against us. It is like you said no one care about the truth on social media. Once she fabricates some evidence against us, not to talk of the fact that we are guilty no one will dare employ us again," Mr. Adams refused. The two managers thought his words were correct after all Emily did not lack the bit of money to turn the table there.
When the three men got to the employee car park a sudden reality was done to them, they could no longer drive the car given to them by the company.
They looked at each other and without saying anything they walk out pretending to hold their heads up high. "Let us take a cab," Mr. Adams said. They all nodded their head and walked out of the company gate as if it was nothing.
Steam was located in Que City center so getting a cab around there would not be a problem after all the place was surrounded by companies.
Unfortunately, it was already the close of work, and those who used taxis knew that it was a bit difficult to get one at this hour since a lot of people are getting off work at that time.
The steam building was five minutes from the park where they will take a cab. It just happened that nothing seems to be on their side as the sky suddenly turned dark and a heavy downpour started.
Mr. Adams and the rest cursed under their breath, there was nowhere to hide so they had no choice but to fasten their steps to the cab park, who knew that when they got there will be no cab available.
"There should be more cabs in a few minutes," the man they meet hiding under the shade said. He looked like he also just closed from work.
