Mr. Adams also got the suspension and was on his way to meet the vice president when he received calls from the other managers, when he realized that a he was not the only one he decided to use the numbers to pressure the vice president so he asked them to accompany him to the vice president's office.
Gabriel just returned from a meeting when the group of managers walked into his office, "vice president we have been a part of this company since it was founded what is the meaning of this?" Mr. Adams demanded as soon as he got into the office.
When Gabriel heard his complaint he could not help but shake his head. He knew that the man has been taking advantage of him for a long time but there was nothing he could do in this situation as everything was in the hand of Emily. "I know this but deliberately disobeying your superior you should have expected some consequences," Gabriel replied. He was calm and composed because he knew this had nothing to do with him.
"what do you mean deliberate? We were late because of different reasons, if I remember correctly the company has a rule that permits an employee to be fifteen minutes," Mr. Adams argued.
"that rule only applies when a person has a good reason to be late, like a major traffic jam,'' Gabriel said looking at the group of managers. During the meeting this morning Emily already collected evidence against these managers.
"what do you mean? We do have…" Mr. Adams wanted to go on but Gabriel stopped him. "if you have any complain send them to the president, as you can see the suspension came from the president's desk,"
"I know that? I am only here to discuss with you because of our many years of working together," Mr. Adams did not sound as arrogant as he did when he just stepped in.
"I know that, but this had nothing to do with me, I can not get involved," Gabriel replied.
"what do you mean cannot be involved, although she is the president of the company it will not be where it is if you had not been building it in the last five years,'' Mr. Adams said. Gabriel missed having the final say on the surface but he will never let this show as he did not want to show his weakness.
"no matter how right you are, it is her company, as the major shareholder she can make the final decision. There is nothing I can do to change it," Gabriel replied. Mr. Adams did not expect Gabriel to be so weak but seeing the way the other managers were looking at him he was unwilling to give in so he walked out.
The other managers were anxious so they followed him out. "what do we do now?" one of the managers asked. Mr. Adams frown his brows looking very upset "let's go meet the girl" he declared, he did not believe he could not win against Emily.
When they got to Emily's office they found out that Emily was having a meeting, so they had no choice but to wait. It was already past work hours the people she was having meetings with went out.
Emily send the potential investors out, she stopped outside the door, while Kevin followed them out to the park lots.
As soon as the group of managers saw her they surrounded her. They were asking different questions deliberately playing down their action.
"There is a labor law in the country, how can you suspend us without pay,"
"How can you deduct from our salary for only a few days' delay."
"Steam is just a small company, with my qualification I can easily get a job somewhere else,"
"I will take steam to court,"
Emily just looked at the group of Manages who were behaving like gangsters. She knew that the managers will not take the suspicion lying down but she had not expected them to behave like this.
As a matter of fact, she had wanted to just to quietly deduct their money at the end of the month but when she found out that the managers had spread the news all through the company giving her the name paper tiger. No matter much she wanted to turn a blind eye, she had to deal with the manager as even the other staff were not taking their work seriously.
She heard that some of the managers even promoted women just because she was willing to spread her legs. This was not the kind of work environment that she had hoped to create.
Gabriel was not a strong leader he just let these managers do as they please because they had the certificate. This leads him(Gabriel) into working overtime. After all, he was moved by praise.
"Then we will meet in court," Emily's voice was very calm. None of these managers had the company secret. She knew that ABM in time will try to pouch her people in order to destroy them from the inside out. So she had kept those in the production department hidden.
As long as the prototype of their work remains secret Emily did not care what other secret was linked.
"You... Do you think we will not dare?" Mr. Adams was angry.
"Whether you dare or not is none of my business. You have been given this suspension so that the company can investigate you. Moreover, I have a copy of the company labor law. In the last few years, you have made come to work a habit. Even if I fire you, no labor law can save you. Moreover, your low-level mistakes that have been covered up by Gabriel can easily be used as evidence. I wonder what company will employ your incompetence," Emily replied.
"You, do you think we are fools. I will resign if you do not cancel this suspension," Mr. Adams declared.
"Me too,"
"I will also resign"
"Steam is just a small company and you know nothing about running a company, tell us how long you think this company will last if we ruin its reputation on social media," Mr. Adams threatens.
"Mr. Adams there is no need to continue talking to her, let us go and write our resignation letters," one manager suggested. They were hoping that Emily will not them all leave as it will affect Steam greatly to employ so many managers as that will affect the running of the comapany.
"That's good, drop the keys to the company house and car, we would calculate the compensation you owe the company," Emily was not afraid of having so many managers leave.
