" I think it would be a great opportunity if Mr Sky became your partner for dinner tonight," Kevin suggested as he drove the car towards the airport to pick up Samuel Sky, who was coming from country Kay.
"You are right; his presence would reduce the pressure on Steam after the announcement by Sky group. I will find a chance to invite him later," Emily said. She swallowed her unwillingness; for some reason, she did not want him to be her partner, even when she knew it was best for the company. She secretly prayed that he would reject her when she invited him.
Airport.
Samuel's assistant pulled out his suitcase as they exited the airport. "Boss, why did we need to travel all the way for this negotiation? Given our status, Steam would have been happy to make this journey," Johnson, his assistant, said. He could not understand why his Boss treated a small company like a big shot. Even if someone had to come down, Samuel should have sent a director or manager, so he could not help but complain.
"Are you saying I don't know what I am doing?" Samuel was irritated; this was not the first time his assistant had reminded him of this.
"I apologize," Johnson realized his mistake. Indeed his Boss was not ignorant of his status, so he must have his reason.
"Mr Sky," Kevin called out when he saw them. Emily was still seated in the car when she heard Kevin. She stepped out to welcome Samuel.
"Mr Sky," Emily walked over.
"Miss White," Samuel smiled warmly as he extended his hand to shake hers. Emily returned the smile and shook his hand.
"You did not have to pick me up personally," Samuel said.
"How else would I show my sincerity? You took the journey all the way; the least I can do is to pick you up," Emily smiled.
"Alight, as long it is not too much trouble," Samuel replied. There was something about Emily's smile that made Samuel happy. The first time he saw her, she did not leave so much impression on him. But after she indirectly helped solve the shadow that had hunted his family for years, his impression of her had improved.
So he decided to take a trip down to negotiate their new contract to thank her and appreciate her ability as a businesswoman.
"Let go," Emily returned to the car.
Two hours later.
Emily and Samuel shared lunch. As they ate, they discussed the terms of their new agreement.
"I will go through the contract and see if there are any other problems," Samuel said as he got up to see her out of the restaurant.
"Sure, I will be looking forward to your reply," Emily was relieved that Sky group were willing to take over project Nabot.
Emily wanted to leave without mentioning the dinner, but she could see Kevin giving her a hint to remind her, so she could no longer pretend to forget.
"Mr Sky, if you are not so busy, there is a dinner tonight hosted by the FF group," Emily mentioned. FF group was a known intentional funding group, so she did not need to explain anything to Samuel.
The dinner this time was a small one; after all, the FF group are looking for small companies ro invest in. Sky group already had a name for itself, and since it was based in country Kay, Emily was sure that FF would not send an invite to them. Emily would not have been confident of an invite if the dinner this time were not for new and small companies. Although large companies also got invited, it was a known fact that most of the leaders of these companies would not attend
"Is that so?" Samuel frowned his brows and looked at his assistant. If the FF group had an important dinner, they would have at least invited the Sky group for formalities.
Johnson shook his head since he did not receive any invitation. "It's a small dinner this time; I heard one of the directors is celebrating his birthday," Emily explained when she saw Samuel's reaction.
"Oh, " Samuel nodded in understanding.
"I was thinking, if you are not so busy if you will be willing to be my partner, although this time Steam is stealing over their project, think it will be good for both companies if the world knows that we are still on a good term, given the recent event," Emily said.
"I am not busy; what time is the dinner?" Samuel jumped at the idea; he could not explain why but he knew he was happy to spend more time with Emily.
"Seven pm," Emily replied.
"Great, I will wait for you to pick me up," Samuel smiled. Emily was not so happy that he agreed, but she gave him a small smile.
'Eric would not be there anyway; it's just a small dinner,' Emily comforted herself. 'Wait! What nonsense am I thinking?" She soon realized that there was something wrong.
'It has nothing to do with me if he is present or not. Eric is my enemy,' she reminded herself As she got into the car.

"Boss, think, Miss White just wants ro use you to gain connection," Johnson said.
"You talk too much; I sometimes wonder how you became an executive assistant," Samuel was angry when he heard his words. Of course, he knew that the Sky group had nothing to gain attending the dinner, but he did not see why he could not do Emily such a small favour, given that he was not so busy.
"But boss..." Johnson wanted to remind him of the amount of work waiting for his attention, but Samuel caught him off. "I am not too busy, so I will accompany her to the dinner," he said in a final tone.
Johnson was surprised by those words; he knew her busy his Boss was but dared not say a word.

"Get ready; I want you to accompany me to the dinner party tonight," Eric decided to invite Olivia. Eric knew that the only reason he wanted to attend the dinner was to see Emily, yet he was self-denial, so he asked Olivia.
"Okay, Boss," Olivia tried to sound calm, but Eric could feel her excitement. He hung up the call feeling a bit irritated.
