Juliet's Diary
We used to have dinner together when Dad wasn't busy at work. Like today. We took the time to have dinner, although the one who dominated the conversation at the dinner table was Romeo, who talked about his activities at school or his very boring band. I only answer when asked.
"I have good news for you," Mom said after tapping the glass with a spoon. She looked at Dad for a moment. Dad nodded telling her to continue. "We have a guest of honor!"
Both Romeo and I looked at each other, not understanding.
"Wow. Okay. Is that good news?" I asked. If the guest of honor is like my great-grandmother who is still in good health but has an expression like an evil witch, I wouldn't call it good news. That's bad news.
"Of course." Mom cleared her throat. "We have the Earl of Ulster's daughter coming."
Romeo and I remain silent. We know nothing about the Earl of Ulster, much less his daughter.
