[Mandy's Diary Today]
Holding the teddy bear to my chest, I sauntered beside Justin leaving the haunted house ride. We continued on our way again ignoring the clock hands that were already showing one in the middle of the night. He helped me carry the big teddy bear, then took me by the hand to stay close to him.
He bent down in front of me and said, "Come on, I know you're tired."
Awww… The devil and angel on my shoulders rested their chin while blinking many times at her sweet demeanor. I jumped upon his back, wrapped my arms around his neck tightly, and stuck my head forward to talk to him. He held my legs, then continued on his way to take us home after a full night spent here.
"This is forever," he whispered next to my ear. "Only you, me, and us."
I bit my lower lip to suppress a smile. "This is forever." I gave a brief peck on his cheek, making him chuckle and kiss me back with the same thing on my lips, turning it into a soft kiss.
We walked our way through the dwindling crowd of people. Together, we sang the song Eternal Flame to the parking lot, ignoring the different gazes around us, and continuing to sing while giggling now and then like a teenage couple who just found out what love is.
"Close your eyes. Give me your hand, Darling. Do you feel my heart beating? Do you understand? Do you feel the same? Or am I only dreaming? Is this burning? An eternal flame."
"I believe it's meant to be, Darling. I watch you when you're sleeping. You belong with me. Do you feel the same? Or am I only dreaming? But is this burning (burning)? An eternal flame. Say my name. Sun shines through the rain. Of all life so lonely. Then come and ease the pain. I don't want to lose this feeling…"
A hand touched my hair, automatically making me scream hysterically, slid to the side, and buried my face in his neck. Justin chuckled once, holding my trembling body in fear and pressing my head to soothe.
I could breathe a sigh of relief as soon as the train carrying us stopped at the door. I opened my eyes, blinking a few times to confirm that the train had indeed come out of that goddamn ride. I tilted my head, seeing Justin's skeptical gaze directed straight into my eyes. I grinned widely, took my arms off his neck, and immediately got off the carriage with his help.
"You coward," he snorted scornfully.
"I'm not afraid," I said, rubbing the cold back of my neck. "I'm just worried they're killing me in there like in the Chucky movies. You know, right? A doll that can kill people." My eyes widen. Just the thought of Chucky's face gave me goosebumps. The ghost that made me pee was just a living doll. Just imagine an inanimate object, like your doll, walking around the house carrying a knife. Creepy, isn't it?
"Don't be ridiculous." Justin rolled his eyes. "You're an adult, why are you still afraid of such things?"
"Just ask the pioneers of the world's first ghost film that succeeded in making young children paranoid about everything around them."
"Always don't want to lose." He tapped my head, making me wince in pain and rub my head.
"Why do you always knock on my head?" my throat.
"Because your head has nothing in it."
"Otherwise it would have been impossible for me to get an award from the college and become the best graduate of the year!"
Justin sighed exasperatedly. "Okay, I was wrong. Sorry sorry sorry." He raised his hand in surrender. See, I always win when I argue with him. No wonder I managed to take Jordan's high school debaters club to an international level.
//Close your eyes
Give me your hand, darling
(Ooh yeah yeah)
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand?
Do you feel the same
Or am I only dreaming?//
Yep. This is forever.
