[Mandy's Diary 17th years old]
As soon as a few feet were almost at the long table, Justin turned his head straight at me. His dark-looking eyes swept over my vision, causing me to spontaneously turn around and instead—changing course by walking over to George, my nerd classmate who was wearing thick glasses. Oh, shit. I was hella nervous! Even though it's only a few meters to get there!
Making small talk with George, I stole another glance to my main target. Justin had turned his face away. He moved away from his friends after patting one of them on the shoulder. In my heart, I sighed softly. He was gone before I even got to the table to attract attention.
But at least… I had a free time to taste the food at the long table. Ignoring George's ramblings, I hastily moved my feet again toward the table. Damn. The food on the plate was calling my name. Fuck diets! Regardless of my diet plans, I quickly scooped up the various kinds of food up there, stuffing them in my mouth to the brim. It's amazingly exquisite. It was not in vain that I complied with Rebekah's invitation.
"Hi."
Hearing a familiar voice beside me, suddenly I choked on the food that had not yet reached my throat, making me quickly gulp down a glass of juice that was placed there until the food managed to land smoothly into my stomach. My hands were busy cleaning the remnants of food in my mouth when I turned to the side and found Justin standing with his hands leaning on the table.
For God's sake, he was so handsome—even from close proximity like this. I wanted to touch him! What did it feel like to touch that skin? was he real?
"H-hi…" Damn it, why did I answer him like that?! I changed the look on my stupid face in response to his monotonous look. Did he greet me just now! Oh my God, I wanted to sink my head in the water to make sure this isn't a dream.
"I never saw you," he continued, reaching for his nearest glass. Even every movement made by him is so sexy. "Are you Rebekah's friend?"
Friend? Haha. It's impossible to be her friend.
"Nope. We ain't even close," I admitted.
Justin didn't reply anymore. He prefers to keep his attention straight ahead, to the place where Simple Plan was entertaining the guests with their songs. This way, I could say that I was satisfied by just looking at him. Good grief. He's real. He was a real being. Even from the side, he looked like a descendant of a God sent to earth to subjugate the girls around him.
"Oh." Justin turned his gaze back at me, which made me quickly changed my stupid expression into a big, familiar smile. I hoped the smile that I show today is not an overdose smile. "May I know your blonde friend's name? That one." His hand was stretched out in front of him to point to the place where Candice was bobbing to the beat of Simple Plan's music.
What?! What did he just ask?! Instantly the percentage of my happiness plummeted. The smile that was originally plastered on my lips disappeared. What a shame! Justin wasn't interested in me, instead, he's attracted to Candice?!
"Oh…" I pursed my lips in disappointment. My heart shattered into small pieces. Trust me, knowing someone who is more attracted to your best friend than you is a pain in the ass. "Her name is Candice." I fake smile. "Would you like to say hello?"
"Me?" Justin looked surprised, then he chuckled. The way he laughed! For Garry, the Snail's sake, the way he laughed was so sexy. I couldn't feel my heart... Where is my heart! "No need. My friend, Trevor, he's been interested in your blonde friend ever since she came here."
"Wow." At the same time, I let out a sigh of relief and smiled happily. Thank God, Justin is not interested in Candice. "Candice Fields. That girl is Candice."
Wait, I just realized that he didn't even ask my name. This is a little unfair. Come on ask my name, please, my mind whispers pitifully.
"Then please say hello to Candice, from my friend Trevor Harrison." He smiled. Again I say, he smiled at me. Looks like I'm going to die of happiness seeing his honey-sweet smile.
"Okay, I'll pass it to her." I smiled back with a big smile. Then without waiting—though I didn't want to—I turned around to say hello to Candice from Justin's friend. Wonder how someone like Candice got the attention of one of the popular guys? This was not fair.
Just as I turned around to dodge, suddenly someone hit me hard enough to make my butt land on the cement. The last sounds all around me were gasps, aluminum trays dropping, and gurgling bursts of laughter. I bit my lower lip, feeling something above my head. Guess that's something. As soon as my hand got it, I saw a grilled lobster seasoned with tomatoes. In an instant, the clothes I was wearing were covered in bits of vegetables.
My cheeks flushed. I'm ashamed. Can you imagine if you fell with a lobster on your head and everyone laughed in front of your crush?! This is pretty ridiculous. I hastily stood up while shaking my dirty skirt. I dared not look at the satisfied faces around me that make me ashamed. But I was brave enough to look at Justin's expression. He didn't laugh too, thank God. Instead, the response was a look of surprise. Then the corners of his eyes darted sharply in one direction, where Rebekah was giggling wildly along with her minions. My cheeks were getting hotter. That was embarrassing. Everyone laughed at me!! My eyes started to heat up feeling the presence of fluid gathering in my eyelids. Ignoring Candice's voice not far from me, I immediately rushed away from the place still with laughter around me.
Congratulations, Rebekah. You managed to embarrass me for the hundredth time in front of Justin.
