After she finished her dinner she went back to her chamber. The maidservants helped her bathe and prepare her nightclothes. When she was alone with a lowly lit lantern she began to doze off to sleep.
The feeling of something gently grabbing both of her wrists and pinning them down on the mattress. She felt sick like something was pressing down on her body? She swore she had fallen asleep but yet it only felt like she closed her eyes for a few seconds. When she opened her eyes she was met with bright green ones.
"Kane?" She was confused about the reason he was in her chamber at night on top of her. Without any words, there was only silence and his eyes flashed a mixture of beautiful bright colors.
"Abigail my beautiful dreamer may I kiss you?" He spoke in a hushed voice against her ear.
She had no words to speak she could only wish that he never asked and just kissed her. The words couldn't form in her mind so she gave up and just nodded.
A smile slowly formed on his lips, she gazed into his eyes one last time before he closed them and brought his lips so close to hers they, faintly touched.
She didn't know what she was supposed to do and it only seemed to amuse him enough to make him smile. His eyes were still closed but she kept hers open?
He leaned back down and this time she could have sworn he had kissed her but it happens so quick it made her doubt herself into believing it was only in her head. But it then happened one-two-three times in different patterns and on the fourth, she had realized he had been preparing her for her official first kiss by showing her his rhythm.
Her arms were still held down by one of his hands while the other pushed strands of her hair out of her face.
"Are you feeling tired you should sleep?" He began to pull away but she didn't want him to leave she wanted him to stay beside her for at least this one night?
"Please don't go." She pleaded. "You had just taught me how to kiss but what was the reason if I can't use my new learning skill?"
"If you want to kiss me just tell me and you will receive it."
She was at loss for her words once again what was wrong with her why couldn't she just speak the words? And how could she tell him to kiss her that was unusual for a lady to say?
"Please don't go?" Seemed to be all she could say.
In the dim, lighting she could see a smile curve on his lips. Her heart was pounding in her chest waiting in silence for anything to happen.
Kane did a swift turn and again towered over her "Something about you is killing me and it terrifies me." He told kissing in between her neck and collarbone.
What did he mean by that what was it supposed to mean? She was killing him but she wasn't doing anything that could harm him in any way that was unless someone had spotted Kane coming into her chamber at night and guards or her father caught them in bed together.
She was still under the covers but she could feel the heat of his body against hers even when their bodies were hardly making contact. Her arms were free from his grasp making it easier for her to move freely and do as she pleased. She grabbed either side of his face and looked into his beautiful and colorful eyes as they flash dark and mysterious colors.
He kissed her lips starting out slow until she got the hang of his rhythm then without stopping this time they both got what they wanted he wanted to kiss her and she got to experience her first kiss with Kane.
He may have been a dangerous beast but he was so very careful with her like she was a stack of teacups balancing in one's hand.
When he pulled away they were both breathless. The sound of his pants filled her left ear as he caught a breath. She had never felt what she felt at the moment her heart pounded her breathing was unsteady and she felt feverish.
"Get some rest princess." He whispered then plopped onto the mattress beside her. He touched her shoulder she turned to face him his eyes were back to normal though she was fascinated with his multi-color eyes she preferred his bright green ones.
Her body was pulled closer to his but not as close to making her feel uncomfortable. He hugged her body and used her torso as a pillow. She smiled down at him before resting her head and she dug her fingers through his hair until she felt tired.
She would have thought he would have left after he got what he wanted but he didn't he stayed laying beside her for the night she wasn't sure if he left when she fell asleep but it was his choice to leave and she wouldn't be able to stop him.
Abigail was awakened by a loud squeal a maidservant looked at her horrified like she's seen a ghost. And she soon realized why what had happened last night wasn't a dream Kane was in her bed fast asleep next to her.
She had really kissed him last night he had really said those things to her? She quickly checked under the covers just in case she had forgotten anything. She was still in her nightclothes that was a relief to know that they only shared a kiss.
Remembering the kiss suddenly brought flashbacks when he wakens she would have to speak to him about it somehow if she gains the courage to that was.
The maidservant took small steps back until she was about at the door and darted. "No! Wa-"
The door suddenly, closed-back shut and the maid yelped. She looked down beside her on the bed and then at the door. Wasn't Kane just asleep? How did he get to the door in a short amount of time?
Kane looked down at her with a raised brow. "Where do you think you're going?" He got no reply. "What you saw was nothing of yours or anyone's counting the king's concern."
"Y-your the-the beast whom everyone talks about among others. And you were in lady Abigail's bed his majesty had said you weren't supposed to be here until you gave his majesty of some sort? Please let me go I'll do as you say but please don't kill me!"
Kane clenched his jaw. "Just to make it clear what you saw wasn't what you think. You shouldn't have come in here while the princess slept as well? From now on you will not disturb my lady of her sleep and you will only take orders from her or me from now on you will not share a soul about what you may see or hear when it comes to me and my lady." He strictly told.
"Y-yes, sir you have my word." When Kane had moved away from the door the maidservant disappointed out of her sight. He had told the maid all those things for her she had never had a maid who obeyed orders like that. And the way his facial expressions changed when the maid brought up what he was. He seemed to be going through struggles, on, how people thought of him she didn't understand why they see him in that way.
When she, knew him as just a man who was gentle and kind? He had been nothing but good to her and no one seemed to noticed not even her father?
When he had sat down at the foot of her bed she debated if it would be okay if she could go up to him. Would he feel uncomfortable and push her away unlike what happened last night?
"I'm sorry I didn't mean for that to happen I meant to wake up on the first break of dawn?"
She went up behind him without thinking and put her hand on his shoulder. She lucky got no bad reaction from him and wasn't tossed across the room like what she read in novels. Leaning over his other shoulder she tried to get a good look at him and when he turned his head their noses bumped.
She met his soft gaze and couldn't help but smile. "It's okay and besides I don't think she would dare to tell my father or anyone to be exact that you are here with me?"
"And about last night that was all real and not a dream right?" She asked just in case.
"My lady I'm not sure if I know what you mean?" He said. She almost believed his little lie until he kissed her chin but she felt relieved that it really did happen because if it wasn't she would have to question him why he was in her chamber sleeping in her bed. "Your scent is different what is it?" He asked breathing in her scent.
"I'm not quite sure but the maidservants told me it would suit me?"
"I liked your sweet scent much better change it back to the original?" He told her and kissed her cheek.
She giggled at his behavior. He was the only friend she had and wished to only have when it would be hard to trust anyone in the village. She knew she could trust Kane even if he was a beast she trusted him. He was the only one who listened and what she had to say and stood up for her.
She was happy to know who he really was under the hood. It was yet hard to believe that she's dreamed about him for the past two years while not knowing he was really real. And they've only known each other for a month and already shared a kiss but haven't shared their love for each other. Though he already knew how she felt she hadn't confessed it in person and had no plan anytime soon until she truly knew how he felt.
"Okay, I'll be sure to tell them... are you hungry at all I could get you breakfast?"
"Hardly my lady but I do have something in mind..." Kane brought her onto his lap which made her feel a little uneasy when she wore her nightclothes which only was a partial chest revealing, thin white ankle-length gown.
Her heart began to race just by the touch of his thumb caressing her cheek. He then leaned in and she kissed him back even though it was short it still felt nice in a way she couldn't identify. He moved below her ear and placed kisses along the soft skin of her neck. Which felt oddly pleasing to her.
He had suddenly stopped and she didn't know why there was complete silence.
"Someone's coming this way." He told.
"Huh, are you sure I don't hear anything?"
"Yes, I'm sure my lady there getting closer." She slid off Kane's lap as he stood up and pointed to sit down at her vanity then he went and hid behind the room divider.
Not long after the door opened. "Father, what brings you here this morning?" She asked while casually combing her hair.
"One of your maids told me you had her leave are you feeling alright my dear?" The king asked with concern.
"Father I feel just fine she must have misunderstood me I just wanted a little bit of time in bed before I start my day." She lied. She never said that or even thought of doing it Kane said every word while her thoughts were invaded by him.
The king stood in a short silence of thoughts before speaking. "Are you upset with me because you are unable to see Kane until he shows me the heart of a beast?"
"Of course not father I know you only did it because you care about my safety." She told taking a glimpse over at Kane.
"You do care about him, don't you?"
"Of course, I do he is my friend?" Also, she had kissed him twice but she couldn't tell him that it would anger him.
"Tell me about him, what type of man is he, is he good to you?"
She could tell him everything she knew so far but nothing about him being a beast. "Well father he's very kind to me but can be a bit strict to others at times but that is only because of the lack of respect they give him. He's always by my side when I'm in the need to speak my mind. Father, I want you to understand that Kane would never hurt me."
