When she awoke she oddly found herself in her bed last night she could have sworn she had fallen asleep when taking care of Kane but she knelt on the floor she wasn't on her bed unless she unknowingly walked over to the other side, of her bed?
She got out of bed and maidservants walked in to prepare a bath. Though there was a man unconscious in her bed how could she possibly bathe in the same room? It would make her uncomfortable if he woke up during her bath?
Before the maidservants put steaming water into the washing basin she quickly asked. "Wait can't I wash somewhere more private?"
The maidservants looked at her then each other as if she had lost her mind. "Why is it you all prepare my bath in my chamber why can't I bathe somewhere else?" She asked feeling uneasy from the thoughts.
"My lady it is his majesty's orders for you to bathe here? He had strictly prohibited you from going anywhere but the chamber to bathe?" One of the maidservants said.
"But there is a man I can not be naked when he is here?" I told. "And aren't you four my personal maidservants shouldn't you be taking orders from me and not my father?"
"We know you are stressed by all that's happened the past two days we only want what's best for you my lady?"
She turned her attention to the young maid who had spoken. She had to be no more than fifteen and worked as a maidservant in the castle. She couldn't figure out why she had chosen to work for her when she was so young and could possibly wed a man in the coming year.
the maid had a very unusual name one she couldn't remember so easily? But it was yet a beautiful name of the Hebrews? When she began to think hard enough the name popped into his mind. Seraphina was the young maid's name she was also one of her personal favorites to have around though she wasn't very open about herself she was still very gentle and thoughtful.
"Seraphina?" She said to get her attention. She lifted her head slightly above her shoulders. "What do you think I should do?" She asked with a gentle smile.
"Well, my lady I think...you should obey his majesty but if I may I have a request for your privacy?"
"Yes go on?" She had to hear her out about her idea especially when it had to do with her getting her privacy during her bath.
Seraphina nodded and continued. "We could clear, out a few things out of that there, storage unit then put the washing basin inside it will surely be big enough for everyone to move around in and there is even a drape to exit off the entrance?"
"That sounds like a...fantastic idea let's do that!" She grew excited with the thoughts that fill her mind. Never once had any given her ideas like that one. They've only said things that were good but not great?
She went to help her maidservant clear out the trunks from the storage but was immediately shoved aside like a baby doll that a little girl found no more interest in playing with it.
She knew they wouldn't let her do any maids, work and, possibly get hurt doing so. So she sat back and watched while looking after Kane in his deep slumber.
Kane don't you know I may seem happy at the moment but I am really hurting on the inside? Can't you wake up soon so I don't go insane by seeing you like this? I really want to speak to you about the world on the other side of the castle walls. I want you to take me to see your world and experience what you do on a daily basis. I want? I want you to be...part of my life even if it's nothing more than being a friend you have to stay with me and protect me from those horrible beings. So please wake up and when you do even if it's during my bath I'll run to you and hold you so tightly in my arms. "Wake up Kane?" The words left her lips in a faint whispering cry.
"My lady, we're ready for you now?" One of the maids told.
She nodded and stood up from the stool on the side of the bed with a small smile. The maids helped her out of her night clothes then she stepped into the washing basin filled with steaming hot water that was almost too hot to the touch.
While some put scented oils of her choice. The same scented oil that would leave a sweet fragrance on her skin that Kane liked very much. The others helped wash and rinse her hair while she rinsed her body.
When the time, gradually passed she changed into a deep blue dress and put a silk Blue Ribbon in, her hair to match. And quickly made it down to the dining hall for breakfast. When she entered her father didn't even take a glance at her but oddly kept his eyes deep into the paper he must have received today from one of the servants.
Her father wasn't one to read unless for royalty business that's what was odd about him this morning. The paper he read had nothing to do with the kingdom how she knew was because there would always be a royal marking on the back of the sheet and on that one it showed to only be an ordinary paper like a note.
"What are you reading father?" She asked taking a seat at the table.
"Oh good morning Abigail I didn't hear you come in?" He said without eye contact. "I'm reading a letter the physician left for me to read when he came by to check Kane's condition earlier today?"
"He had come by today, when? And what does it say?"
"You were still asleep when I walked in before the physician. I still don't know how you slept through the night on a stool? But that is if you were wondering why you were in bed. I put you there to feel more comfortable."
Her father put her in bed with the man he didn't seem to like much just so she could be comfortable?
"This letter seems to me to be a bit odd? Kane's condition seems to not have improved but worsen his fever has seemed to spike a little higher to one hundred and six. Two degrees higher than yesterday and his heart rate, has, also spiked to one hundred and ten. He says he had given Kane, a remedy to help him but you still need to keep an eye on him in case of possible seizures."
He has only worsened why isn't he getting better like he's supposed to? She suddenly felt full from all the news and put her spoon down pushing her meal to the side. She wanted to stay strong and have faith that anything could be possible but how much longer could she really hold back from crying in despair when all she ever wanted was for someone to understand and listen to her thoughts and now that someone could possibly die?
"Father?" The word came out in a wail. "May I make a few o-orders...from around the kingdom for Kane? Y-you see...he has this horse that he had told...me about he cares very...m-much about her and I couldn't j-just let her be all a-alone s-shes probably...worried?" She sobbed into her palms.
"My dear Abigail you can do all you want freely just to never leave the castle."
"Abigail everything will be alright I'm sure of it?" Tina reassured her.
"Yeah and I'll help you with whatever you need I'm sure lord Isaac would too? You just say the word and I'll do it?" Lillian told with confidence.
"Thank you girls I really appreciate your sympathy. Father, please now excuse me?" She then took her, leave from the dining hall and had a line of men ready to, take her orders.
She had sent out two men and three maids to Kane's home the two men would bring his horse to the castle to stay safely in the stables and the three maids will fix up anything that would need to be cleaned or organized.
And while they went off through the forest she turned away from the window and went to find her father. She wanted to get permission for at least one hour to be able to go outside by the stables. She couldn't just sit around and watch them do all the work she wanted to experience a little bit of hard labor in her life.
No one's life could be exciting with so many rules and laws, that's not how she saw her life. She could see herself living an ordinary life in a cottage with a husband and maybe two little children, and without needing to hide her identity from the world. She would give up her title of a princess just to be free.
Her father had likely moved to his study after breakfast. She knocked on the door before entering. Her father sat in his usual seat behind his desk looking through all the records of the past and present month.
"Father sorry if I'm disturbing you, I wanted to ask if you would allow me to go to the royal stables? It'll only be one hour and I'll be sure to watch out for unidentified people!" She quickly added that last, part just to be clear for a clear response.
He looked up at her with a raised brow. "Is this also about you making orders around the kingdom?"
"Yes, and I would like to see Kane's horse up close if that's alright with you?"
"Alright, but for safety reasons for your lack of knowledge in horses, do not run or flare your arms or any sort of object in the air you may spook the horse, and don't go behind the rear either, you understand?" He told in a stern tone.
"Yes, father I understand clearly!" She said in pure excitement.
"Good you're free to go?"
She happily skipped out of the castle, then ran to the stables to help out the royal stable hands who took care of the horses and the shelter. She walked up to one of the men and snatched a crate out of his hands with a proud smile.
"Oh, my lady what are you doing out here you could get all dirty?"
"It's alright I came out here to help, we're going to clear that over there aren't we?" She pointed. Over in the corner, there was a big stall that was, in no use for a horse but only supplies of grain, hay, and tackle gear for riding and for a carriage.
"Yes that is the one, but my lady are you sure you can do it? I mean not to offend you at any means but all those things can be very dusty and you're in a new clean dress?" He pointed out with a frown.
Maybe he was worried she would ruin it while moving out supplies? "Do you think I should change before we get started then?" She asked with a smile. He nodded in response. "Okay, then I'll be right back don't start without me." She walked off with a giggle.
"Seraphina can you help me find something to wear something I don't mind getting dirty?" She asked leaning down at Kane's side. "Kane I'm bringing your horse to the castle she will be safe and taken good care of now. I'm sure she will be happy to see you soon as well?"
"My lady here is your dress?" Seraphina said at a distance.
"Thank you." She said standing up straight and walked over to the maid.
